Japan to commence the killing of 1000 whales including the protected humpback
joexcooldude replied to belfastuniguy's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: DanWalker8 I think we do manage whale populations by not killing them. I don't see how hunting them for food is any different than hunting any other sea creature (e.g. cod, mackrel.) What makes killing a whale any more "sick and murderous" than killing an insect?quote> Insects reproduce incredibly faster, and can survive far more than a whale can. All of this while they have a lesser role in the food chain. Seriously, I'm going to agree with the original poster and side against killing whales. Humans have killed off enough of the world's animal population; can we just leave whales alone. And no, this is not just the business of the Japanese, as this effects the balance of animals across the world and thus the food supply. Why can't we have the whalers come over to the states and kill deer: at least they are overpopulated and getting hit by our SUVs. Although that last statement is in slight jest, it is appalling that people go up in arms when people discuss killing deer but ignore killing whales. Not that I am against hunting, but there are limits to what is morally reasonable. Hunting a near endangered mammal is against those morals. -
Will buildings replace themselves over time?
joexcooldude replied to cuboctahedron's topic in Cities XXL
Couldn't this be resolved by introducing a slider bar that allows the player to choose how frequently buildings are replaced? Therefore, when the bar is lowered to infrequent replacement, a suburban city would form more easily and when the bar is raised to frequent replacement the city would urbanize quickly. -
Anyone else notice that its playing a song from SC4?

Originally posted by: Androv It does kind of look like they forgot to build suburbs in that town :-/ Just a CBD...quote> This seems to be a reoccuring problem with all cities made in SCS. As Odainsaker said, this game is infinently better...but all of the maps seem to be incredibly small, ruling out suburbs and making all cities look like the Chinese edge cities. This essentially destroys realism.

Sim city 4000 Never run on my new PC (SOLVED)
joexcooldude replied to chessmaker01's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Actually, Ive been running SC4RH on a system with 512MB RAM and integrated graphics since the beginning, so the specs you have shouldnt be the main problem. SP2 is known to not cooperate with SC4 very well, however...check all of the patches from Simcity website itself...I remember there being something to help SP2 and SC4, thus im still running SP1 and proud of it. -
Well, I prefer the Wii due to the playing style with the motion controller. However, there are times that a better graphic processor can be used...so then Id say the Xbox360 comes in second. Of course, why not have both? Its about the same price as the PS3, which cant do everything those two combined can. And yea, the Blu-Ray was a poor marketing decision, although Im sure that was Sony overhead trying to proliferate the market with Blu-Ray players in an attempt to win the new format war. The backfiring part of that is most people are perfectly satisfied with DVDs on their non-HD television. So actually, when I think about it...Ill stick with my laptop for the ultimate gaming experiance

If we can make the Earth too overcrowded, then we can use homeless people to build a bridge across the Atlantic.

Chicago, Il...that looks like one of the "beaches" in between downtown and Gary

Simtropolis will be meeting with SimCity Societies developers
joexcooldude replied to Dirktator's topic in City-Building Games
One word: Zoning. Good luck speaking to them...this seems to be a good move, something Ill keep on my list of SimCity to-dos. -
That is definitely Great Lakes/Upper Midwest...so Im going to guess Green Bay, WI; Duluth, MN; Thunder Bay, ON EDIT: I figured out what it was...but Im out of guesses. Meh, such is life.

Originally posted by: Voar Tok Originally posted by: Goldfish4209 Age restrictions are too rigid, and intelligence/capability restrictions would be better, to an extent. Since when did 14 year olds smoke and drink anyways?quote> There are kids that start drinking and smoking that early. I've met individuals who had their first beer when they were twelve and took a can out of every case his dad brought home.quote> Thus, the only people being penalized are those following the law. One of my biggest complaints is against law that everyone breaks, seeing as people are supposed to be those in power in a democracy. For example, I am a strong supporter of lowering the drinking age to 18 (and raising speed limits; its more dangerous to do 55 on I-95 than 80, and no, no one is ever going to follow the 55 mph speed limit). Back onto the subject of age, the main problem with age requirements is that there is always people more and less mature than their numerical age. Unfortunately, this can never be completely corrected as there is simply not the resources to give everyone personalized treatment. Overall, I am more on the side of lowering ages. For example, this is what I think the ages should be: Drinking: 18 Smoking: 16 Consent: 15 Mature Content: None (bah censorship, its a family issue and not a legal one) Voting: 18 Driving: 15 (for a much stricter test, the current test should remain at the age of 16...however, the earlier license would come with insurance benefits due to the people passing the test being better drivers, although thats another issue in its entirety) I am almost always against laws that are against harming oneself, due to my opinion that its a personal choice. However, at this point it would be too abrupt to eradicate drinking and smoking ages...the society needs to grow used to the looser restrictions from the beginning.

Plane problems..please help!
joexcooldude replied to POPSTAINKING's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Tommy is correct. I think you may have made a misunderstanding on the STEX, as those who are creating aircraft have attempted to use POSKY base models for their airliners. However, they are different file formats for each game and therefore a massive amount of editing would be required to tailor those aircraft for SC4 usage. -
Speaking of a razr, ive had enough problems with its durability so theres no way im going to get an iPhone...I think ill be heading to older designs so I manage to keep a phone longer than 10 months...

Was this the default train station? If not, can you post which train station it was?
