Well, Carpman had to leave his position, and I just closed a thread a minute ago, so I know mine still work....

Well, it looks like my position isn't important enough to list anymore.....15.gif.....but I don't exactly show my greatness by not posting too much.

Anyway, I was also amased to see Joesocwork be turned into an administrator, just poped out of nowhere, congrats though (even though I already told ya that). Also, looks like the title under Dev is still valid, so continue the fight to improve ST dev 2.gif

You have a point, Clindhartsen.  I'm about 2 1/2 months newer & approx. 2000 posts less than Dev (for example).  I don't claim to be as tech oriented as other members either.  But I've been here long enough and participated enough to appreciate and take part in the SimTropolis mystique and culture.  We all have our styles and people and institutions continually change and hopefully grow.  As part of that ST Way I'll let the membership decide on their own what was seen in me to appoint me as an admin and I'll try the best that I can to be worthy of it.  1.gif

Thanks for your congratulations TT, Clind, and others!10.gif

No, that is really not a good point.  Post count and date joined are not major factors into the decision of who is asked to join the staff.   The ways of the Dirktator can be mysterious.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. Yes, I have noticed that some Administrartors and Moderators have varible post counts. There are many factors that go into being promoted. Almost to many to write.

Well, post count and date joined don't matter. All of our moderators, administrators and chat operators are well respected and upstanding citizens of the Simtropolis Society! All three jobs are given to members who the current staff can trust to use the powers properly.

Also, congratulations to Joesocwork for becoming an admin!

That is a good point (pun not intended), moderators just seem to appear. It's how nice and helpful the member is, not how many times he/she have posted 19.gif.

Why does one drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

Why is delivery by boat called a cargo and one by land called a shipment?

Things do constantly change, three great admins have retired since Simtropolis first appeared on the web, SimJez, Hodges & the Bunny, but life and peoples situations change.  We've also lost some great moderators along the way - Sharr, GouRou, Larsz...and I'm sure the staff will continue to change along with the community.

Right now I think we have a great team of moderators in place who are helping run this site, and remember, they get nothing for doing this, its all simply because they are prepared to give up their own time and help ensure this site keeps going and runs smoothly.  And we were also very fortunate that Joe decided to join us as an administrator, he completely understands the fundamentals this site was built on and he is just a great guy to have around.

Id probably turn ST into a smuldering ruin and id be standing in the middle of it playing some Megadeth song on my guitar and headbanging. LOL!

But the ST of my $%&^! days was a great place, and i' alwayd fondly remember it for the rest of my life, i mean it. And ST today is a great place, i have a feeling ill be here for a long time, with some others too hopefully!

And that is exactly why you will never be staff at any website. unless someday you create your own....

And as stated, post count and time of membership mean nothing to it. It really depends on your contributions to the community, and your maturity and availability to handle a position.

Me, I just hang around and post, taking part in converstions. And I'm not perfect. I have gotten postes edited and deleted. And I learn from it. Actually, there have been times where I've not really been sure at all whether something was just below or just over the line. In such cases, I usually just go a head and post it, figuring it it's a problem, the modmins will take care of it....
I'd rarther get the occasional post edited for a minor infraction than be overly conservative at what I post, in order to try and display myself and express myself as best I can. Howevere, some people don't learn, and sometimes post completely rediculous things. A certain cousin of mine that i just quoted comes to mind....2.gif

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.
If you can read this, you deserve a cookie.

I have noticed since I joined Simtropolis. But as I haden't been on Simtropolis that long so I asumed she had been a moderator for years.

    Anyway, well done guinea.39.gif
