@ zzsim: Yeah, Canada Day is pretty much the same thing to Canada as July 4th is to the US.

It seems to be the same idea.    Glad you guys get to play too  39.gif

    Happy Canada Day

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

^Fireworks, Parties, and a big festival on Parliment Hill in Ottawa (was there in 1998).

Those were good times. 39.gif Speaking of which, there was a big concert going on a block from our house.

I'm vacationing in Calgary, so I got a taste of Calgary's Canada Celebrations (I live in Winnipeg). I went to Princess Island for the all-day celebrations and then went down to Cochrane for a rocking good concert! 44.gif

Thank you to all those non-canadians who celebrate Canada Day with us!  It's greatly appreciated.  And yes, you better be appreciative... Canada gave you Simtropolis!!! 17.gif

All I got in front of my house was a bunch of drunk guys shouting, etc. at 1:30 in the morning. Oh fun. 34.gif45.gif I could hear the fireworks clearly from my house though. 3.gif

Canada Day is also my birthday. I turned 19. I know that very, very few of us Americans know which day this is, as it is fun to answer the question of my date of birth with "Canada Day".

I guess I'm a couple days late, but Happy Canada Day
(and to the older Canadians out there... Happy Dominion Day)

Sure was a celebration here in Ottawa that day.
went downtown to see the crowds in the morning, then went home and had a few freinds over.
Basically, I put on some Jamaican music, cooked up some polish sausages, on Italian rolls with French mustard, drank some German wine and some Spanish port... oh yeah, there was a Dutch beer in there somewhere too, and more or less celebrated the Cultural Mosaic that is Canada.

@ beebs: Canada Day in Ottawa is indeed bustling. They close al lthe roads downtown and peope swarm parliament hil lfor the fireworks and concert, etc... Cool huh, a concert in front of the parliament buildings. At least there was a few year sago, I don't know if they still do that. The one draw back though is that every year for the past 7 I think it has rained or thunder or hail or something on Canada Day. This year they were calling for storms so I didn't go downtown... But every year until now I did. And I got rained on... oh boy did I get wet... might as well have jumped in the canal. Oh did I mention the hail? Good thing I was inside. Indeed this is the time of year for storms. Other than that, it doesn't dampen the fun too much and people continue partying despite what the weather is doing.

Yeah, it's sad and disrespectful. I would like to say more, but I have nothing more to say that won't get me edited or banned.

EDIT: There is always someone who stands out in the crowd in the wrong way.

Ugh... don't get me started on those idiots...

Skyfire2275: Not much over here in Edmonton. Pancake breakfasts, stuff at the Leg/City Hall/Hawrelak Park and stuff. Then the fireworks at around 11pm (which this year was apparantly really good). Didn't go watch them this year because every other year, they end up being terrible. 15.gif

I was in Regina during the fireworks, but didn't go see them. I must rather go see the fireworks at teh Casino de Hull this summer. It's an international contest between many countries.
