Wow, some great skylines! After reading this thread I've come to the conclusion there is no 1 best skyline. There are just too many great ones.

I think that in order to properly deal with this issue you have to divide them into categories. I don't think one can compare Manhattan to Houston or London because they are all just so different. Below are some of my favourites.

**warning, alot of these pics are very large**

I'll start off with cities that are just mindboggling from the number of towers

New York City

    -panorama

    -midtown

    -downtown

Hong Kong

Chicago

Sao Paulo

to name a few

Next cities with defined skylines. I personally prefer this style.

Calgary (I've shown the pic for this one because this is my favourite

Atlanta

Houston

Los Angeles

Dallas

are great examples of this type

Finally, theres the inbetweeny downtown. ahah

Toronto

San Francisco

There are many outstanding skylines all over the world. Houston, Sydney and Chicago are some of my favorites. But, in my opinion, this may be one of the most beautiful pictures ever photograped, by one of the greatest--Ansel Admes.

ok we all love LA, but i was browsing the skylines and this really impressed me, Paris, yeah they actually have a downtown, it's beautiful, i was actually in Paris, and i didn't see any sign of a large metropolitan area...
