In reguards to my mod, I'm making the textures for the American Versions, and Scruff is doing the Euro Version and the 3 Street Replacement Mods.

The NAM Team has to make the Ploppable Version.

I will release the park version as soon as Scruffy finishes touching up my textures.

Included in the park version will be: The American Commercial & Residential and The Euro Eddition. There will be Brick on Brick Intersections but nothing else since these won't be transit enabled.

I'm going to be gone from the 16th til the 28th, so the Park Version most likely won't be released until August sometime.

I just love these streets, they are beautiful! If you follow through with them then you might just see them in my cities!

Anyway, do you think you will be making a euro-mod compadible version. The problem with the current brick street mods on the STEX is they don't work too well and put in tiny pieces of the original american roads.

Goodluck with this, I hope it goes well!

Thanks for all the motivation so far, folks (I'm gonna need it before I convert about 40 textures to FHSs)...

Choco, can I put you down as a beta tester when this is almost ready?

Oh yeah, here are the textures that are finished (huge image)

Geoffhaw sorted out an instance range for the lot textures, so hopefully I'll get my stuff done before josef gets back from NJ. Allegedly there won't be diagonals in the lot mod (yet!) so that already halves the amount of stuff that needs to be made.

Meanwhile, I think it's time for a BETA!

EDIT: Minor updates to the readme. Also, does anyone know where I can find the wealth-dependent grass textures with the reader? I found what I think is the medium one at 0x25f40004, but the others don't seem to be near it.

Wow, cool... I downloaded it now, but won't be able to test it until after I'm done work... I'll give you any feedback I can, as I come across it.

i've got an idea. with your permission, i'd like to use the textures to create a mod where brick streets appear in High Wealth neighbourhoods, unless of course it's already planned. used in conjunction with jeronij's dirty streets mod, i think it would add quite a touch of realism to the game.

Well, the plan is to make two seperate DATs - one for only high-wealth, low density stuff, and one that replaces all streets. We're thinking along similar lines though; I reckon having three different textures on the go at once would make for some really varied settlements 9.gif

As far as project updates go, I always wondered why certain street pieces weren't showing up (there's a pic on page 2 with some undeveloped zones and some HORRIBLE jaggies), so I didn't make these textures yet. However, after removing a couple of plugins, everything appeared again. And it wuz grey. I've done these now, but I should finish off the transitions to other networks before offering another beta.

I was considering doing the parking lots, but I reckon I'd need to get at the models in BAT to make them look proper. Then there's the issue of them showing up on every street... if you plan to use different street skins for different wealth levels, this might not be desirable.

Eh, I'll stop by the Street Side Mod dev thread sometime and see if there's a way around this. BAT is out of my league for now, though.

the street side props can be made wealth dependent. it requires some tweaking around, but it's possible. consult the creator of the mod and im sure they'll be able to help you.

Great work. I'm curious as to how it works (or doesn't work) with jeronij's road street mod. Is it designed to work with this or will it conflict? Thanks

jeronij's street mod just places props on the streets. this mod replaces the street and pavement textures. so, the only conflict i can see is the parts of the prop models that use a base texture that is similar to the current pavement/street texture.

prince of sims: Thanks for your reply however I tried this beta and for whatever reason it doesn't work properly with jeronij's mod. It changes his dirt road texture, but not anywhere else. The same grey street texture shows. I'll experiment a bit and see what happens. Thanks for your help mate...

oh, you meant that jeronij mod. be more specific next time, jeronij has released multiple street mods.

most likely, this mod includes textures for the wealth levels where dirt road is supposed to show up. this might be fixable if the dirt streets mod is loaded after the brick road mod. to do this, put both files in the same folder, and add a Z_ in front of the filename of the file that you want to load last (in this case, jeronij's mod). or, you could put jeronij's mod in a subfolder where the brick streets mod is located (make sure the entire contents of his mod is copied). hopefully that'll help. if not, let me know i'll download the beta and take a look at it.

    Scuffy,

Here are the textures ID's that you want to look for:

    - High Wealth = 251C3004

    - Medium Wealth = 251C2004

    - Low Wealth = 251C1004

0x25F40004 is the park grass texture and doesn't have any wealth levels associated with it. I can send you the BMPs that I extracted, if you want.

Hey Prince of sims (and everyone else of coarse). I have taken jeronij's dirt road mod out. I now have my road mods in this order. JRJ street side MOD, NAM (oct 2005), ZZ Euro road MOD, ZZZ Asphalt Highway MOD, ZZZZ Brick Street MOD. I still however don't get the brick streets to show up in my game in the high medium wealth areas. Any help would be great.

    Thanks...

Swamper77: Thanks, I can make a start on those wealth-dependent textures now 9.gif

Sorchin: Here's an extract from the readme where it sez that I haven't done the wealth-dependent textures yet...

"The new textures will only show when streets are constructed next to medium / high density zones, or when no other building is near. However, they will show while drawing streets, regardless of how they get built. This is not a bug; it's because I haven't done the wealth level textures yet. And whoa, there are a LOT of them."
