Wow this looks really nice, I also like the brick pedestrian crossings like are seen in a lot of cities and towns. I haven't downloaded the previous brick street mod, but I might download this one.

I am looking into creating additions to the brick street, such as Brick Road, and Brick One Way.

Cobblestone street is a possibility in the future... I'll have to see if I can find a texture or make one.

I'm going to finish adding the yellow lines to the intersections that need it, then sending them to Scruffy for stylizing and advanced photoshopping. 4.gif

    Here is the finished straight

I'm waiting on Scruffy to finish the brick intersections so I can post the park versions of the bricks. These will not be transit enabled. The Transit enabled ones will end up on the NAM I believe.

I'm curious as to if anybody wants Jeronji's street mod sidewalk textures or the default maxis textures.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten! I've just been doing overtime in work :\

I also noticed that only one of the PSDs you sent saved properly, so I had a browse thru simcity3.dat and made the other intersections from scratch. I'll send 'em when I get a day off, which unfortunately won't be until tuesday. In the meantime, have a a cul-de-sac (or two)!

    0x05000304.jpg0x05000304a.jpg

So which looks better? Large circle or small circle? I thought the smaller one would look better with vehicles going around it, as the 'lane' is roughly half the width of the street itself. But the large circle has more presence, no?

If there's compelling support for a particular one, I'll redo the red bricks to form a radial pattern around it. It's all practice for when I make bends :1

    EDITs:

josef: Each PSD I've made has the pavement / sidewalk as the background, so it should be easy enought to use the 128px texture of your choice with these. I used the medium-wealth one 'cos I couldn't seem to find the high-wealth texture.

Anyone who's feeling lucky: I'm also making alpha masks if these ever come to replace any street textures...

I like the Cul De Sac, I can't wait to see the radial brick pattern you're working on 4.gif

It's ok, aslong as I can add the sidewalk in the background.

If it's not too much trouble when you get time, I'll try to send you all the other ones for touch ups and what not.

Then when that's done I will release the park version of this.

I am not sure if I want to make this replace the orignal street texture, we'll see if the NAM people decide they don't want this in NAM or if people can't wait for the NAM to come out, we'll do so.

Well, you asked, so here's an answer: I like the smaller circle more, the bigger one has too much presence... but that's my opinion! 3.gif

Hrrm. I made overlay versions anyway, because I need to learn this stuff. The smaller Cul-de-Sac circle was definitely the way to go.

I still think the bricks look a little flat, I believe taht there is a slight curve on a real brick road, we need to find out how to shade it to look like that.

Looks good scruffy, I'm going to zip up my folder and send it to you for touch ups, I finished all my work.

Are you guys going to make pieces for diagonal streets? Because that would be really cool!

I'll think about it, it'll be difficult to do make it diagonal.

OK, we've got a couple of queries that need clearing up before making lots (most of it down to my inexperience 3.gif ):

One idea is to have the street surfaces themselves as overlay textures, using a single base texture for the pavements/sidewalks.

    1) At the moment, the FSHs act as replacements, as in the tests above where the regular streets are reskinned. I want to make those a seperate download, though. How can I find some 'empty' instance slots for these so that they don't interfere?

    2) Will zoning near the puzzle pieces invoke the pavement / sidewalk textures as with the networks? Probably obvious, but I'm paranoid :1

the normal street network tiles have the texture as an overlay. the base-texture or the pavement texture is what changes with each rezoning. i remember Swamper77 (or was it smoncrie) made a uni-sidewalk mod. it made the sidewalk textures the same everywhere. all he did was replace the FSHs for sidewalk textures, he didn't touch the network textures.

    1) i didn't understand. could you be clearer?

    2) if there is no alpha-channel on the brick texture, the sidewalk texture will not show through.

i remember a mod that changed sidewalks. i just thought of your name because of the many transport related mods you've made.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that this project is splitting into two. To clarify:

While I haven't run into problems with replacing network textures (yet!), my questions regard making them available for josef's lots, while leaving the normal streets untouched. That'll be a seperate DAT for those who want it, but there are so many textures to do that I'm sure josef's mod will be done first.

Eh, I should have another look throught the Omnibus, but I'm so tir... zzz

EDIT: I found this thread which describes the problem a little bettter, but it's ancient, and it wasn't really addressed...
