That's what I had in mind. Sweeping hills with a large open plains housing the regions central commercial metropolis.

Here is my region, Megaopolis. Few mods were used. I may turn this into a CJ once I grow it some more.

Oh, I see what you're reffering to.  Ok, my large region images are taken with Region Census, reduced in size by 50% using Irfanview.44.gif

Here's an update on my region....currently sitting at 942,175 sims and growing fast...

hey cool. islands are the way to go! I made this region with fun in mind. So far, i'm liking the challenge of building on lots of little islands. I crafted it so most city tiles can be joined to the others with a bridge. So far, only 100,000 residents. How big do you think I could get the region?

Here's the region I'm currently working on. I started about 3 months ago with it, and... it's going to take forever until it's 'finished' 3.gif I've mostly worked on the infrastructure so far. Population is just under 1.9 million.

Nice cities. The max pop I've got in 1 area was 240.000 but had to demolish it because the commute took insanely long and the buildings were being abandoned, the pop. reduced 15.gif

Nice regions everyone.

Recently I expanded my region a few large city tiles to the east. Here's what I have so far.

Here's my New Liberty region. It's basically the Fort Algonquin map from the STEX, except I took some creative liberties to cut down on the amount of land mass that I didn't think I needed. As of this post, I have yet to build a city here.

Here's the west side:

NewLiberty-1282601434.png

On this side, the huge city to the north will be known as Stillwater, while the huge city to the south will be known as New Empire City. The other cities, I haven't settled on names for, and I'm not sure where on this forum I can ask for name suggestions.

Here's the east side:

Here's two shots of my region. Both are from my City Journal Wakita, OK. Check out these, it's taken two months to get to this state.

Here's the region I began today and just finished earlier – East Kentia, part of my fictional country of Kentia (situated to the east of Australia).  The basic shapes of the terrain were created in SC4Terraformer, and perfected in the game with additional terraforming and tree-adding.  Tried to keep a nice range of land types, ie. plains, hills, rivers, lakes, islands, seas, deserts and mountains all in one region, with the land relatively flat enough for decent city-building.  My favourite types of city tiles to build on are medium-sized flats with rivers running through them, so I made that the majority here.  Looking forward to finally creating a regional metropolis; I've never done so before since I've never really been keen on the Maxis regions, and I've never had the patience to manually terraform my own region.  There are no terrain modifications.

East Kentia, current population: 0 10.gif
