mambomumba: Yeah... thats the one, but I'm only using part of it.

Wish I could remember who made it, it's a brilliant map, in my opinion

Pixelrage:  I know what you mean, i almost cried when it happened, but... no, I don't want to tell you the name of the mod, it was never the mods fault, it was entirly the users.

I mis-read the read me, plain and simple. Basically, every single city tile is covered with a layer of hundreds of invisible trees, and when an invisible tree gets destroyed, either by my building something over it or a zoned tile containing an invisible tree grows a building, the game crashes. But here's the stupidest part... I managed to paint each and every city tile with three diferent brushes before i figured out the problem!

The lessons to be learned here are: >Read carefully the read me files with mods , and

                                                                >Back up your cities when trying something new, especially a global mod.

Although, I must admit, I'm still a bit timid when it comes to terrain and water mods

Battlecat, are you using a terrain mod? It looks a lot greener than the default texture

What you see there is Cycledogg's Olympic Terrain mod, one of the three new ones he released.  Plus there are a lot of trees on top of it all.

Oh and yes that is from my city journal Mambomumba, the link is in my signature.

It looks nice!! I'll have to try it out. I hate sacrificing the colombus terrain, though.

wow ! these are really greats regions views. serious work over there...

Dusktrooper, Battlecat, ThePeoplePersons could you tell what is the size of your region in term of pixel for instance in config.bmp ? they seems very very big.

Mambomumba, your config.bmp is 32x32 isn't ?

I've thought we have to stay under 16x16 in config.bmp.

thx

My config is 64x32 (Yes, its an absolutely massive region, took about an hour to render on my fairly powerful computer). Mind you probably about 1/3 of that is water surrounding the island.

Spa: AFAIK, the sprawl will just keep going and going and going... 2.gif

Mightygoose: Thanks, and I shall see about that..

Shivsood: As a matter of fact, I do.  Search for Montaukshire.

_Enzo_: My config .bmp is 100x125.  It used to be larger, but, I cropped it, to reduce loading times.  Most of the image bck then was empty space.

SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

I always grab the great regions made off the stex, and then do minor terraforming as I go. I find the maps on the stex can be awesome templates, and there's so many that you're bound to find one close to what you're looking for. Then you can just add mountains, rivers, lakes, whatever you see fit to suit what you're going for.

As for my computer I'm using P3.4, GF 6800, and 1gb of ram.

I couldn't see loading a 100x125 region, especially when a 64x32 took my computer 1 hour to render. Must have left it overnight lol.

It's a good way to go. There are some awesome maps on the STEX produced by some very talented people and it'd be wrong to just leave them there. 44.gif

With my region (shown somewhere back on the first page), I actually started with about a dozen downloaded maps, and created a frankenmap out of the bits I liked. It's not exactly easy to match up all the seams, and there has been significant in-game terraforming to make things look right, but I was really pleased with the number of different landscapes I ended up with in my region.

Maybe something for those with photoshop and some spare time to try sometime...

I thought psteverific's farm region was cool. Lots of impressive curved roads.

Terra is a very large region, sized about 80x80 or so.  The screenshot I showed earlier is less than 1/4 of the region.

My new region, Isthmusthi is much smaller at only 32x32.  Here is an early region shot:

just some classics here, but with a major difference, for a long time i've always wanted to develop these regions and with this mod, its now possible.
fairview11513695761xn.jpg
now a 4x4 large tile region, in my opinon, much more playable than before
maxizland11513695247va.jpg
now a 16x16 region, the increase of size, actually makes it easier to appreciate the terraforming in the region, quite impressive in retrospect.
newcityjan210011513694630rb.jpg
this tile for instance covers 8 times more than the original maxisland (in mayor mode)
i pulled this one off using the sc4terraformer and some new config files

Here's my region, New Alexandria (pop 6,092,328). I've been working on it for quite some time. A lot of work still needs to be done still, mostly the suburbs and the farms.

Hi SimTropians:

Here's a couple of pics and larger images of my region, Three Rivers Region, as it stands today at the end of my most recent SC4 session.

Clicking on a pic will bring up a much larger verson of same (the first two run about 250-300kb, the last is almost 870 kb).

3RR is on hiatus over the next few weeks, but you are welcome to visit there in any event by clicking on the link in my sig.
