sanantonio, although the train is quite unrealistic, its cool. amazing teraforming job and one of the best uses of the sea walls i've seen. bus station to the right doesn't make sense though, and the maxis bus stop is just... ugh, you can do better. speaking of which, yeah, as far as my work goes, thats nothing. i understand the 6 now, you were basing it on my other work, which makes much more sense. thanks for the clarification 3.gif

save yourself the agony of simtropolis uploads. get an account at photobucket.com. then you upload a picture from your album, it shows up, and copy the line in the box next to "img" and paste it here. be sure to open up your picture in MS pain though (under the start menu, accessories) and save it as a .jpeg so it doesn't get shrunk. basically just go under file, save as, and go down to the bottom by the name and select "jpeg" instead of "png". might have to resize it to 800x600 too, but play around, i'm sure you'll find that one out. 2.gif

I'm still pretty new at this, this place is quite the inspiration. Those NYC Rowhouses have kindof taken over this part of the city. 4.gif

coultharda very nice did u use ps on the pier? 7/10

Nightshiver00 lovely attention to detail 7/10

marcszar 0/10 i dotn rate more than 800 x 600 thats why the thread is called rate one image, and the rules are max of 800x600

Waz_Up_Tiger very colourful, i like it the only critism is the housing has lots of car parks maybe join them up or somin 7/10

sanantonio: its colourful not sure i like the train to very cross over 6/10

sanantonio that is like nothing i have ever seen that is extremely realisitc, i give u my 5th 10/10 ever on this thread, well done

Terrence very nice image the only thing to say is, the beach ruins the effect 7/10

HuskerDude very realisitc, like the area alot, the only problem is the elervated rail, maybe use a older looking station

Arronperry: The mosaic is a set of several 800x600 images. I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to post mosaics. They don't break any Simtropolis rules, and form one picture even though they're made up of several. Hence, one image. If that still doesen't make sense, maybe you could just give a rating to one of the parts, or all of them seperately? 3.gif

HuskerDude: Nice feel to the image overall. However, I think if you used a few more different buildings it could be alot better. 7/10

rate one image, the maximum size for 'one' image is 800x600, so i will then only rate the first 800x600, and the reason i dont rate mosaics is becuase it isnt fair on people who dont know how to make them and the rules do say for the poster to post one image only.

please dont take affence i love the image just it isnt in the rules

i still find it hard to beleive that the first 80x600 section of that mosaic is worth 0/10, come on aaron, dont be reticent just let the topic take iots own path, remember you dont own the topic, it belongs to the ST community, you should be grateful that so many people post images in a thread you created.

aaronperry: Ok so you won't rate mosaics but you will rate sanantonio's image, which is obviously different screenshots stitched together. Are you trying say that if take some screenshots and stitch them together in Photoshop you will rate, but you wont if i post them separately. This is stupid.

Many people on ST use mosaics in CJ's and other 'show us your...' threads and it is stupid to not rate them, it ids not breaking ST rules. I know this is your thread but if you continue to enforce unrealistic rules people will no longer post here

mjig_dudy: I think he was rating my ferry/bridge/train/tunnel pic...

aaronperry: correct me if I'm wrong.

I have posted a mosaic in this thread before, and got the magical 0/10. I was trying to skirt that "rule" by posting the image in the reply at 800xwhatever, then giving the option to see a zoomed version if one so desired. Yeah I cheat...big whoop, wanna fight about it?

PS mjig_dudy: what the heck is mjig_dudy? and apples of doom? I've never seen/felt/smelled/tasted/(heard?) an apple and thought I was doomed.

I've been a mod in this forum for a few weeks now (little under two months) and I have to say that watching the evolution of a thread is quite fascinating.  Almost like watching a child grow up.  Like a child, a thread can start out looking like it's going to be one thing, and then somewhere down the road, the thread "changes its mind" and decides that it's going to follow a different path, for better or worse.

I'll admit that I haven't been around for the entire time of this thread, nor have I been moderating this forum both before and after mosiacs became popular.  However, from where I'm sitting, it seems as though things have changed some in recent times; it appears to me that we seem to be having a disparity over what constitutes an image.

From what I can tell, there are presently two sides to this discussion: the side that says that a mosaic is composed of more than one image, therefore it is multiple images, and the side that says that because the multiple images are "cut and spliced" together to form one big image, they should only count as one image.  I'm not going to say who is right or wrong in this debate; I have my personal opinions, both as a member of Simtropolis and as a moderator, but I'm not here to unnecessarily inject myself into a discussion that I have thus far stayed out of.  (Bear in mind that I'm not saying that I won't step in the issue gets out of hand.)

My question in all of this is:  "What are we having here?"  Are we discussing the issue, and not the individual, or are we using the issue at hand as a vehicle to make jabs at the opinions of another member?  If we are discussing the issue, then we can have a meaningful conflict resolution session here.  If we choose to use this issue as an opportunity to make personal attacks at a member, then we'll have nothing but trouble come from this.  I'm just as interested as anyone else in seeing if we can find some resolution on the issue of mosaics in this thread.  However, we all need to keep cool heads if we are going to truly succeed in that goal.

I don't know if we will or will not find closure on the issue at hand, although I sincerely hope that we do so we can get back to the real purpose of this thread, showing off our best work and providing honest, constructive feedback on the pictures.

Ok lets get this thread back on track.

The_sanderson: I like the effect you used on the image. However it is perhaps a bit too small. Also, the 2 rows of snack bars are abit unrealistic. 6/10

    Here's one from me:

    Wiki says:

In our example, a mosaic is a tessellation [rectangle] made up of non-overlapping images [not to exceed 800x600px].

    Its a multi-image tesselation.

EDIT:  Mulefisk, you are quick and your image is great.  And 8 (point 8) is great (point great)

    REEDIT:  Mulefisk, i was wrong...have another .8

Lemme just say one thing and then this can be dropped, I might find this posted deleted or edited but oh well... AK and myself have posted multiple mosaics on this thread and they have been rated...I don't understand as to why that one was not rated....aaronperry is right though One Image is 800x600 a mosaic is mutiple images that are put together then broken down into 800x600 segments or w.e...and just cuz some people can't make mosaics doesnt mean its an unfair advantage, it just means the degree of difficulty is higher and therefore in my opinion should get a higher rating, anyone can make them they just need to learn...soo with that said my opinion is on the table...and I will now drop the subject...

Mulefisk Your pics are simply amazing in my book 10/10 Good Job!

marcszar: Outstanding mosaic! Seriously, that's amazing, it really looks like an industrial city on the move. Amazing photoshopping skills. 9.5/10

Waz_Up_Tiger: Really cool asian city. I like the effects but seems a little bit flashy. 8.5/10

sanantonio: Oh wow! This one is seriously freaking nice. This is a theme park I guess. But the photoshop effects are nice and looks really greeny. 9/10

Terrence: I have to say that you worked hard for that. The Venetian feeling is here, but I simply don't like it much because it's too flashy for me. But, I understand that lot of people would love that kind of city. 8/10

sanantonio (again): The tunnel is cool, I like it, but it's kinda normal. Anyway 7.9/10

HuskerDude: Cool pic, but where's the animations? I like the NY rowhouses. 7.5/10

The_sanderson: Nice effects, but a really normal SC4 pic. 7/10

Mulefisk: WOW ! I Love your photoshop skills, maybe one day you could tell me how you did thoses special effects ! And the river ! Amazing ! 9.5/10

ilikehotdogsalot: Mhhh... The city's on fire ! Why not ? Looks really good! Bravo. 8.5/10

And here's mine, a picture of a area of poor buildings, near a highway cloverleaf, in Novaya Tulsk.
