Mulefisk: Congrats on a good image, i like the lighting and your attempt to cover empty spaces with darkness, why should it be lit up when there are no lights  on it. good idea. i hope 4.gif, some concerns... the roundabout for one, but the highay thing, bottom right where the road has made a 90. turn then goes diaginal. did u know if u delete the 90. corner peice and the piece above it then drag the diaginal road up as far as it will go the you can drag a road from that going parrallell to mc'dsand delete the unwanted diaginals left. please try this. 7/10

    Untitled-10.jpg

ilikehotdogsalot: Again a great picture. i like the terracotter colour scheme its very nice the red paved street looks a bit strange. only critisism is the car parks are empty let your city grow for a month and they will have cars my friend. 8/10

    boredavatatar.JPG

capitol1: the first reply is the most apt. it looks dead. i have seen pice that can just make me feel right in the pic, things are moving but its only a pic, im sorry this image looks like one of those artists impressions not a busy city! so to lay into u as normally u have great pics, as well someone commented on the colour scheme of the building i dont think that matters too much becuase it doesnt look odd at all, i would love to see a red brick skyscraper pic only tho , wink wink 4.gif 6/10

    Baiken.gif

Dark_Jedi06: really nice lighting effects there and i like the lake at the top. my only concern is that underground malls look great in between big shops im not sure they are very effective in open spaces, becuase the question why not build up like next doors tower comes to mind. jus a small thing great lighting and layout tho so i will rate high 9/10

    default.gif

ChihliDog: lots of maxis lots ehre still some are nice, but some are not. i can help but think this image is 2d. add trees and make the upper and left empty spacecs unvisible is my advice. wats with the road on the left middle jsut ending? ne way good effort mate i hope to see more, 4.gif 6/10

Thanks to all my posters this thread makes me smile every time im glad i posted it, originally i didnt want to becuase i thought no one would reply, thanks to ilikehotdogs, aleking capitol1 and others for the constant posting, all the pictures from ur firsts to last are getting better, i hope this thread is benificial to you. Please accpet my advice like i would yours.

p.s alek hasn't posted in a while makes me think hes working on something big? 4.gif

Heres another shot from me... I really couldn't get any good photoshop effect so I left it au naturel.

ilikehotdogsalot: 9/10.Just in time for election day...3.gif -1, however because the area around the Capitol doesn't look like that.

El Burro: Very nice. It's nice enough not edited, but I prefer you editing it, anyway. You're a very good city-builder. 8/10

    Untitled-10.jpg

ilikehotdogsalot: very very nice a 9.9/10 is in order not a ten cos its not my type of thing but i looks very realistic explosion having been to washington within the last 6months tho i would disagree with its placing, also i found a pic similiar to this in a cj once it was a white van out side the whitehouse with an explosion coming from its roof.

    Arty-copy124%20vary%20small%20.jpg

El Burro: i like this image its wierd, perhaps too many trees around the edges perhaps a bit of rubbish or trolleys or woord or small boats int he water would be better use or the shoreline. im not sure of the effect ur trying to archieve presumably a dirty one after the cement walls u have used, if not and ure trying to create a caribian theme, try n use  a better water colour and wall slab colour and use a photo editing program to make the colours more vibrant. 8/10 congrats.

El Burro: Nice image. I have a suggestion though. To cover up the white base texture used in Cobs seavillage set (used to avoid the watergraphics bug), try to add some seaflora, stones etc.. it will look smother 4.gif 8/10

    Here's an effort from me

Yeah, It doesn't really look like that in Real life but I tried to do the best I could.

El Burro: 9/10 It's awesome! The only thing I would fix is the little water bug.

metasmurf: 10/10, I really like the ferry leaving, It gives it alot more life. I also like the piers and the Water Flora, Maybe change the parking lot a little to have a village feel.

I was blowing alot of stuff up today, so here's another picture lol.

ilikehotdogsalot: forgot to rate your image 10/10 hillarious image-editing 9.gif

ilikehotdogsalot: well the ferry carries like 1500+ workers so i added the parking lot there, i've seen such thigns in real life at busy ferry terminals.

Thanks people for the crtique on my pic... its great to see people aren't scared to point out the flaws 4.gif

I've tried to hide that water bug as best as possible, lol... not well enough!

Well, i feel guilty for not commenting on pics before, so heres a ruddy long post from me-

Mulefisk- Nice pic. Great lighting effects but Very dark towards the lefthand side and the road should be a little bit darker in my oppinion 7.5/10

ilikehotdogsalot- Good effort, i like the feel and the brick street. I think you zoomed in one too much though, the pixels spoil the picture. 7/10

Capitol- Great skyline, loads of buildings i've never seen before, yet, its pretty dead. A few cars wouldn't have hurt 3.gif 7/10

DarkJedi- Nice use of the grass lots and plaza's here, I love the green lights on the smaller building, very nice. Plus, theres some traffic in there too (extra half a point in my books 3.gif). The blue is too strong though, it would look really nice if it was a little more opaque. 8.5/10

Chihilidog- Nice effort, think I should give you a 10 for putting up with so many Maxis buildings, lol. I really like that spire near the gazebo thingie, but I think its abit overkill on the plazas. I guess If you haven't got much custom content, you can't really help it. 8/10

ilikehotdogsalot- Niiice explosion, i've always wanted to post one but theres always the decision of what to blow up... im very indecisive. Its very crowded for the Capitol bit though, I don't live in DC, or even in the US, but I do have a National Geographic map of the area... and its not that crowded 3.gif 9/10 for being original... lol

    El Burro- 0/10 you suck

Metasmurf- Very nice, very realistic. Love the water flora and that old looking ferry terminal... plus traffic (half a point!). Can't say much in the way of critique but you could remove the stone from under the ferry... i'd hate to be the captain, it'll be brown trousers time when it comes to docking. 9/10

ilikehotdogsalot- Another explosion? Whats you CJ called, "Life and the times of Baghdad?"... hehe, kidding, I love explosions, you don't see enough destruction in this thread 4.gif Did you photoshop the red in the bottom right? If not, iv'e never noticed it before... and i've blown a lot of stuff up. 8.5/10 (-.5 coz of 2 explosions in a row 3.gif )

LP- Wha... amazing stuff, very seasonal, very realist, love it loads. Doesn't seem to be very much in the way of traffic, ad the toolbar gets in the way but amazing pic all the same. 9/10

Phew... excuse me while I pass out...

My pc is coughing and choking under the load of that city right now. My new cpu will hopefully allow me to turn up the traffic.

Also... I don't know how to take pictures with the toolbar hidden... 3.gif

    LP

Firstly i press num lock to hide and then print screen. and paste in paint then convert into other format and edit.

Secoundly ur image, i loved following the train tracks seems quite realisitic. trees are good too. i like the high speed rail perhaps the station needed taller buildings around it. is there a rotating bridge in the water or a glitch? overalll a nice iamge, 9/10

    Untitled-10.jpg

ilikehotdogsalot: thats extremely dark for such a white explosion :s maybe ti jsut me tho. 6/10

    simtropolissweden.jpg

metasmurf: one of the nicest transitions i have ever seen. the carparks could run directly off the road an still not look too stupid, they look ok i agree with u but its the raod layout next to them that i dont like, 9/10

aaronperry, thanks, I really like the rail there too. I'll remember the ctrl-S thing next time. 3.gif The bridge is rotating, didn't mean to catch it like that though... I'll probably end up redoing it. I actually want to knock down those 3 white buildings and that med-rise skyscraper by the station. Its suposed to be a small shoping district, no offices and such.

    PortCapircorn-May.jpg

Thats the station you might be able to see in the upper left hand corner of my last shot. I belive that was the first thing to go into the entire region. 4.gif

LP, how did you fill in that area on the right with dirt so perfectly? (also, the gap in between the tracks is all dirt - mine has a thin, ugly layer of grass)? I'm guessing this has to do with some kind of rail texture mod?

    LP  - Looks great, 9

Thundercry - Nice use of trees, 8

    metasmurf - awesome detail, 9.5

Here's another one from me... a housing edition in Port Evergreen, none of the houses are plopped, and the picture is un-edited. (I changed and made more occurrences of those type houses in the LE, and then made them historical after they were built.)

    simtropolissweden.jpg

metasmurf nice image love the bridge on the water front ho move the edge up one square so it is flush with the other type of embankment and it would look better.  other than that very nice indeed 8/10

    Back once again!

LP: That's a very nice station and railyard 29.gif !  I like the way the dirt fills in the gaps very well, but I don't know if there'd be that much dirt for a rail.  It'd probably be an empty grass field if anything, I would think.  I like that canal, but I hope that road's a draw bridge!  7.5/10

Thundercry: This reminds me of greater Houston, for some reason...just a single street surrounded by miles of woods.  Great job! 8.75/10

metasmurf: Dirty Industry!  Finally it gets some love 2.gif !  I like the way the industry rolls down the hill to the water while the bridge stays level the entire time.  And there's stuff under it!  The only thing that seems wierd about this picture is that dock on the bottom left corner, just because it seems too tourist-y for that picture.  That's about it, though...so 9/10

seemurray2: Nice suburb!  I like the look of that commercial area along that avenue...it seems like it would be a good-looking suburban commercial area.  I also like what you did with those corner houses.  That avenue looks like it would be hell on your car (but definately not as bad as some stuff I've built...3.gif).  Nice picture!  9.25/10

    Keep the good stuff coming!

Metasmurf and everyone else who doesn't like my dirt. Thats how railyards are done up here in new england. Well, usually gravel... but that couldn't be done because of the game. Easier to maintain than grass, and nice and open so you can see where your going and if theres something in the track. Thats the main switch point in the entire northern area of my region anyway.

Anyway... yeah, not too sure about that house in the middle, but, it looks worse without it. The mansion, well... that didn't always used to be a urban center. The station was always there, but the large shops was a small little 2 story thing, and the apartments behind the mansion used to be a high wealth estate. Things just grew up around it, and I like the history its given. Also, yeah... like I said its a swing bridge so the ships can go by. The whole city has loads of history built into it, most of which if you knew would make a lot of sense. For instance, the rail and canal system is in place because it used to be a huge factory hub in the victorian era. After the factories left, buisinesses poped up in the cheap empty land. When the region began to expand the HSR line was put in for commuting into the city. After that it just became a popular tourist spot.
