Yellowlab has already done an Omnibus article featuring this thread, so now we don't need an excel document, and you all can just keep adding city names!

Here's a better idea, why not download that new program thingy that makes city names?  And why are you brining up a thread from september?  Also, it's not like the spreadsheats are available....so don't get mad at this guy if he has city name spreadsheets.  Geez.

Historical names also work great for me. Personally, I plan on naming cities in my region after people from the Bible:
    St. Andrew
    St. Matthew
    St. Peter
    St. Timothy
    St. Titus
    St. Steven
    St. Thomas
    St. John
    St. James

Other famous names are great too. Every culture and place has its war heros, founding fathers, patriots, celebrities, fictional characters and battlegrounds. Use your own to give some a creative touch and personality to your cities.

Hmm...didn't realize people were still posting names here.  I was wondering why nobody replied for my plea for more names...<ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/23.gif>...Well, after a monumental waste of time I think I may be able to salvage something.  I'm going to work on an alphebetized version of this still, to be sent to the Omnibus or posted at some later time.  Perhaps it can be stuck on the end of my article.  So keep posting!  I've gotten every name on here since 1/10 alphebetized up to letter M.

Yellow, how about adding the names to a database or spreadsheet that allows for alphabetization (sort) like Word or Works DB/SS? so all you have to do is type in the names as theyre posted here...

Um.....I've already alphabatized all of the names in this forum, Yellowlab.  I have a spreadsheet of it, and I have a webpage of it.  If you had just read my earlier posts it would've saved you a lot of time.  Here's a link to the site.  Yellowlab, if you want me to email you the spreadsheet, I will.  I think it will save you lots of time alphabatizing.

XConstrictor, I also have alphabetized the names on this thread, but when I checked your current name-base, it seems you have less - have you updated with all the names of this thread on it yet, but just not added it onto the website? <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif> I have 895 names alphabetized, but there should be more for more people/persons have added. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/23.gif>
     Hopefully a gigantic city-name database will be created soon! <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif> <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif> <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif>

I'm all up for figuring how to add new names into the SimCity Name Generator app posted a few days ago.
That would be really cool.  <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/1.gif>

That's easy. You just edit the text files that came with the app. The readme tells you how to do it. 2.gif

I don't know why but find whenever I have a city with a realistic name it grows best so everyone use names to make better towns lol.

Current main town is Jono Plains
    ...
Add plains to anything and it works... hehe

Alrighty then, you want city names, here you go:

Towns/Cities that I have built (in no particular order):

New Hope, San Fandango, Akumen, Solarosia, Dualin, Suburbia, Polaris, Valleyside, Hamilton, Welbornonia, Port Charles, Enterprise, Clearwater Cove, Bridgeport, and Talos Inlet.

    Towns/Cities that I will build:

King's Point, Nemanon, Gridlock Acres (no mass transit - hehe), Wintergreen, Odom Island, Gladwell, Glenn's Ferry, (can't think of any more right now).

Hope that adds to the list!

After reading though Yellowlab's tutorial on naming cities, I noticed that there was an omission that I use to name many of my cities... The phone book!

Online directories of people's surnames (and in many cases the first name as well) can prove to be goldmines of original names. And looking through different country's directories can provide you with different themes for regions... the Austrian and German directories offer an easy example of this.

I hope I haven't repeated any earlier posts mentioning this, but just thought I'd quickly add my suggestion...

Hey, using the phone book is a GREAT idea!
I never would have thought of that unless you'd mentioned it.
