INFO: Map Installation Instructions

Hi all,

I'm new around here. So far the game is very fun but I will get down to my point. I did everything that the instructions say. But after I click ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+r and the window pops up and then click the jpg that i'm suppose to load, but then nothing happens. I know that we have to wait several minutes but I can still click things and start new cities in the empty region... anyone got an idea of what's up?

Update: I was able to get the layout of the map to come up but there are no terrains. Just a flat peace of land...

I realise this is an old topic and thread, but I have this issue also. The window for loading bitmaps comes up and I can click to the "My Documents" folder and find the grey scale image, load the image and ......... Nothing ever happens, region stays flat.

While we technically have a guideline about not bumping old threads, I'm personally not inclined to enforce it. You did find the right forum for this with the exception that it's like really almost totally unused in the past few years.

Take a look at this recent topic and see if any of the suggestions there help you. If you still have difficulty after that, reply with the specifics of your situation in that thread. (It's in a more active forum.)

Same for me. It used to work, when I had the game CD, but now using Steams digital version, it no longer brings up the BMP files window. Nothing happens.

Well, since this map install doesn't do anything, I have to terraform each city by hand, from scratch.

 

Shift+Alt+Ctrl+R doesn't do anything.

That's from the Region screen and it does nothing? Absolutely totally Nothing?

Exactly. I push all four keys together, separate, two at a time and nothing comes up.

I have the greyscale map in the regions folder and created my config image. The map came from Sim creator in here.

Phooey. It even works on a Mac (just you have to paste in the full path and filename), but they see the dialog too.

The only thing which comes to mind would be a KEYCFG override in a mod that's preventing it. Would you mind to test in pure vanilla? You can rename your Plugins to PluginsHold (or such) and then rename them back after the test.

Another way you can get to that dialog is opening the cheat box in the region view, typing RegionBitmapLoad, and pressing Enter/Return.

I can't think of a reason for a mod to overwrite that region view shortcut, most mods I know of only mess with the city view KEYCFG file.

Same. I'm grasping at straws at this point. Another rare possibility is one of the keyboard keys is dead so the game isn't seeing the full key press combo.

If the above options still won't work, the other way is let me have the grayscale and config.bmp (as well linkys to your terrain, water, rock, beach, and side water mods) and I can render it for you and send it back via a temp hosting service like WeTransfer.com.

I haven't used any terrain mods/plug-ins. No NAM mod. I use simple cheats like money cheat and pollution cheat, that's it. I do have a buggy keyboard tho, hmmm.

I create my terrains by hand and guess work, I guess, haha.
