Here's the prpgress I made on the Milwaukee Club (now it has a name!).  Most of the work I did a few weeks ago, but now I've got it open again and am playing with it.  I'm adapting it a little bit to fit in the game better, but it will definitely be recognizable.

Looks great goober. By the way Congradulations jglei701, I wish you both all the best. My Dad actually went to Milwaukee and I've got a friend or two at Stevens Point. Madison's a great town as well, I love State Street and the capital is, in my himble opinion, one of the finest in the nation.

If you feel the Belfast terraces need more detail, you could add the lead flashing at the base of the chimney.

I really like the look of that SG!  Good job!

    Irish,

Thanks!  We're really excited, we got engaged two weekends ago, but we want to get married in July, so there's a lot of planning to go.

And I agree... I really like the capital in Madison, perched up on the hill like it is.  I went to a wedding in Madison this summer and I just drove around and around on that capital ring, just 'cause I thought it was cool :-)

I've always liked how you can see it from all the way on 90/94 when driving by!

Quality, more people from my hometown. What part? Oh Simgoober, if I might make one tiny request, a plopable version of the Milwaukee Club would, I'm sure, be apreiated by all on the exchange, it's nice to have some degree of control over where pieces of great architectural importance are located.44.gif

The best thing about your new BAT, The Milwaukee Club, is you have managed to capture some real character from the building. This is great.

I was born in Milwaukee, and thus I highly approve of this project. Nowadays, however, (or more precisely, since I was 1 year old) I live up in Sheboygan County.

I hope you can do the Wisconsin Gas tower, as well. Especially with some sort of glowing top...many years of gazing at the tower as I wander out of Summerfest late at night.

Is it just me, or do the windows (except for those on the corner tower) look a bit like painted onto the wall? 42.gif
Otherwise, the building is usual SimGoober quality, and I don't need to explain what that means, I think. 2.gif

The glass texture is still in progress... there is nothing inside the building yet, so if I make it too clear at this stage, they look solid black.  I added the color just so I know I actually DID put a piece of glass there.. lol.

Yeah, I will make a plop of this as well.  I made a plop of the Loyalty Building, which I modded last night.  I am running it in a city for a few days to be sure it behaves, then will upload.

On the rowhomes, I did get a good set to grow last night... Though I am rethinking the lot size selection.  I think I will add a 1x1 and 1x2 that could grow in between the larger lots.  I have many small gaps in my rows where some odd things grew instead.  Not that this still can't happen, but at least there will be a chance for the rowst o be unbroken... 3.gif

SG, you helped me out a couple weeks back with my being unable to query some of your lots...well i got the updated bsc_essentials and that worked out great, except for now i cant query your new bank, and some of your high-tech industrials...any idea whats goin on???

    p.s. the bsc_Essentials_OG.dat is dated 3/26/2005

p.p.s. these new lots look awesome im gonna have to take a trip to wisconsin one of these days

Try installing the newest Essentials file again.  Some older lots had these files included, so they will overwrite the newer version and you may lose the queries on some lots.  That is the main reason we went to a separate essentials package; but unfortunately those older lots can cause a problem .  And no, I didn't keep track of which they were, or I'd go back and update them again... 7.gif

Here is the Milwaukee club, ready to render I think.  I'll see how it looks i game, and see if any tweaks are needed.  My though right now is to make it a reward library, triggered by hi wealth sims. Closest thing to an exclusive club I think in game...

the weird thing is the two lots i cant query are the GooberGen Labs and SC4 Tech Factory, and i was able to query them b4 i reinstalled the essentials package, so in a nutshell i can query the older lots now, but not these two newer lots...just fyi i just dl'ed and reinstalled this morning

Not that I have any right to say so as I don't know the first thing about BAT, I do agree with T Wrecks, the windows look vaguely unrealistic.

But It's still a remarkable likeness. I also think you may have missed a chimeny, the main entrence is flanked by two.

Thanks for the teaser pic on the Belfast terraces. The gardens look well...love the washing line! 1.gif

I'm not sure about other terraces in the UK, but our terraces tend to have concrete yards at the back and a dustbin. Gardens are for wealthy folk!

All it needs is some bright colours on the front doors.

Rather than turning it into a library, what about using it as a replacement or addition to the private school in game?

Sorry,... been busy.. A private school would work.. though I like it as a Library.  I'll think on it. And it's funny, I have 3 pics from 3 view points, all with 3 chimneys visible.  Visible being the key word.  In each of those shots, a 4th one is behind one of the others.  After looking at them again, I can see this as they are in different places.. lol.  I'll make the edit to the model and see how it works on this version.  Should have an updated picture tomorrow.

Also, FYI.  There is a good chance you will see the Gas building soon from someone else.. Another BSC member started it without realising I was thinking of doing it.. 3.gif

I just uploaded the Loyalty Building and Stonewall Jackson Memorials.  The Stonewall Jackson one happened very spontaneously.  I was chatting with RippTide one night and he showed me a vaguely related lot he was working on.  I had just thought about the RW Stonewall Jackson Memorial, which I had visited recently, and he agreed to make the statue for me.  A few hours later.. presto!... lol

THe Loyalty Building I made a few weeks ago, and have been tweaking the lot a while.  It's a little stubborn to grow, but not bad.  I've had it pop up 3 or 4 times.  Here is a full sized shot of it.

You have created some fantastic buildings for the game.  Thanks for making it so much more enjoyable.

On the Loyalty and other buildings as far as that goes, if I use the plopable, it still shows jobs but do people really go to work there.  I haven't had too much time to monitor them.

First of all, Sim City is amazing to me.  Then the fact that so many people, like yourself, make all these wonderful additions is even more amazing.  I really like your fire stations.  I have a big region fairly well developed and it's good to have a variety of buildings, especially the civic lots that you have to have.

    Thanks again,

Aside from a constant pin in my butt about BSC , I have to say this model is very good. We need more neo-gothic style buildings in the game. I know you don't do many requests, but if you ever consider a low rise neo-gothic style building, check out the CHUM City building in Toronto . Amazing piece of work.

Also, a bit of constructive criticism, the windows on Milwaukee Club look a little flat.. I don't know if thats the effect you wanted, but it would look better if you put a little bit more modelling detail into it. Although, if that's too much work, it is fine the way it is.

Again, keep up the great work.

Here's a teaser of the next Milwaukee building in development.  It's just the area above the entrance, but I'm curious if anyone will recognize it.  It's actually very close to the last building I released.

The Milwaukee Club is almost ready. I've re-rendered it about 5 times, fixing minor things.  A couple more looks at it in game, and I think it should be ready for packaging.
