About This File

I remade my Tucson map to expand total area and improve height accuracy. You MUST use a scale factor of 9.783 (open simcity_1.dat with Ilive Reader, list all files, select the file numbered 19, change ImageImportScaleFactor to 9.783, save the .dat or make a patch) for rendering to be accurate. Snowcap mod highly recommended even though the snow level only appears to be about 3500 feet. The map is 5121x6401 pixels and takes the area of 500 large cities, or about 3239 mi^2 (8389 km^2). Takes two to three hours to render depending on computer speed (2:30 for Athlon XP 2500+).

There are no glaciers in tucson, at a latitude of 30 N. Mount lemon would have to be 15,000 ft to 16000 ft in hieght. I know that the mountain is 9,156 ft. I have been to the top many times, it has a sky area, heavly forested with pine and fir.

Changing the snow level would involve changing the in-game height at which the snow started, or making a mod out of another mod. This would benefit greatly from a modded version of the 12/25 easter egg, and adjusting the tree line in the game to what would be around 6000 to max out the realism.

setting the scale factor to 9-10 is recommended for all. That gives real mountains with greyscale maps ;-). If you set the scale to 40, an max height to 9000m you are able to make the mount everest. Ah yeah nice map ;)

people beware!!! i warn you this takes forever to render ingame!!! its a great map, but it took me more than 5 hours to render, then i went to bed, so im not sure how long it actually took to render. I have a P4 2.66 Ghz processor, 3/4 of a gig ram which is like 780 or something.

I like the terrain, however, this file needs to be tremendously smaller to actually be used. i've got a super fast computer, plenty of ample RAM, but this is just too big to handle. Can you make this smaller please? 500 big cities is also too many. I would suggest no more than 75, or whichever makes a decent size regional square. Thanks. I hope to see something soon.
