The Macquarie Region (2)
!First of all I would like to warn people with slower internet that this file is very large, so if I get enough enquires I will put on the Image file!
The Macquarie Region is a realistic map based on Macquarie Harbour, on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia. It is a large Harbour, fed by the Mighty Gordon in the south and the King River in the North. It is named after Lachlan Macquarie, governor of New South Wales, for until 1825 Tasmania was part of that state. It is protected from the storms of the Southern Ocean by Cape Sorell and Wellington Heads. Convicts sent to work here called the narrow entrance to the harbor Hell's Gates.
The harbor gained in importance in the 1880s, when tin and copper mining began on the west coast of Tasmania, and this led to the development of Strahan, in an inlet at the north end of Macquarie Harbor. To the East lie huge mountains and the West Coast Wilderness Area, making it one of the most pristine areas in the world.
I Made This Region simply because of its natural beauty, and anyone who has been there would know. I also thought upon looking at the area that it would probably make a good place for a city, but since it is Zoned World Heritage Area. So I thought building it on SimCity would be the next best thing! I also had to redo the Eastern Mountains but they are pretty accurate.
