About This File
Improvements to BAT4Max have made this tutorial obsolete. Visit the BAT4Max thread in the BAT - Open Discussion forum to get the latest version of BAT4Max.
This tutorial shows how to replace the rendered images with other images, before they are converted into .FSH files. Since this tutorial might still be useful for that, I'll keep it up, but for the original purposes this tutorial is obsolete.

This tutorial explains how to create a .SC4Model file using different scenes for night and day.
In real life, "night" is when we are on the shadow side of the planet. There are sun rays, but they are being blocked, so we are literally in the shadow of the planet. This means that there are no sun rays casting shadows on the dark side of the planet, so there are no strong shadows, just ambient moon light. However, in the game, night is made by taking the day render, and adding a blue tint to it. The TruNite rig in this package was made by deleting the light that represents the sun, and then adjusting the light that represents ambient lighting (like the sky or moon) so that these renders are visually compatible with standard day renders.
While I made the TruNite rig included here and this tutorial, the concept of TruNite itself is SimFox's creation.
For this tutorial you'll need to have 3ds Max 8 (other versions may or may not work) and BAT4Max installed, and a basic proficiency in each.
This will not work with Gmax or the standard BAT.
Please do not post troubleshooting questions in the comments section of this upload. Instead, post your troubleshooting questions in the 3ds Max - Troubleshooting thread, and note that you're following this tutorial.
To get a better idea of how TruNite looks, download any of my BATs from December 2007 or newer and look at them at night in the game.
