Map This! - Cartography Services is please to announce its newest fantasy map, Silver River Valley.

The Silver River Valley was discovered on the island of Phoenicia in 1934 by American forces scouting the land. There was a need to find strategic areas to use for military operations. After discovering a silver reserve in the valley, it was quickly declared a strategic area. The US military built the Aching Airbase, the surrounding military residency and established a silver ore mining facility. It became fully established as part of the Pacific military strength when an additional five bases were built. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, the valley became a major hub of military deployment.

In 1959, the island was opened to the public and communities quickly sprang up in the Valley. There were a number of people who came to the island determined to mine whatever remaining silver was still in the surrounding mountains. However, by this time, much of the precious metal was already removed. The mountains gave up very little silver and the valley’s communities suffered a small setback in 1963.

In 1965, Phoenicia Island was admitted into the Union as an officially recognized state of the US. Silver City, being the largest and most established city in the Silvery River Valley, became the major stopping and trading point between the state capital and the southern coast, where the island’s supplies were received and from which the island’s supplies were distributed. By 1975, the city surpassed the 1 million mark in population and became the largest city on the island. Today, Sliver City and the Silver River Valley both play an important role as an economic giant and the central hub of Phoenicia. Map This! – Cartography Services is proud to release its newest fantasy map – Silver River Valley.

This region is 1537 x 1153 pixels in size with a 24 x 16 pixel city configuration made up of all large city tiles.

The original drawing and concept for this map was created by Simtropolis Member SIMplMn9.He also wrote the original storyline, above.Using the SC4Terraformer application, Vandy created the actual map based on the specifications given to him by SIMplMn9 as well as did the final edits on the storyline.Silver River Valley will be the map used in a new City Journal being produced by SIMplMn9.The City Journal will bear the name of the map, Silver River Valley.

SIMplMn9’s config.bmp is a 6 x 4 pixel all large city tiles configuration. This config.bmp is available in the download archive and is named config_24x16.bmp.If it is desired to use this city configuration file, copy it to the appropriate region folder and rename it to config.bmp.DO NOT use it with its default name or the region will not work. The file named config.bmp file which is included in the download archive was created by Vandy and consists of a mixture of small, medium and large city tiles.

The map consists of a large river valley surrounded by stepped mountain ranges with soaring peaks in the corners and edges. There is a river winding its way through the middle of the valley with sheer cliffs along two areas of the river.

There is ample opportunity to develop a wide mix of rural, small villages and towns and large cities within its landscape. The river complex will afford a great deal of development – both industrial and commercial – as well as offer many opportunities for recreational development.

Dependencies: SC4Terraformer or SC4Mapperapplication by woanagaine. Registration is required to access the SC4Devotion LEX.

Download and save the zip archive to a temporary sub-folder. Extract the files from the archive using the "Use folder names" option in order to properly reconstruct the file structure.

Please read the Read_Me file for installation instructions for this map.
