Update Version 2!

==========================

- added 'streets' version - since there was no suitable street texture i had to take the closest thing, doesn't look to bad IMO :) Easy to pick out when trying to demolish them again.

- added maintence Fee to both lots - Roads version has 100 & streets 10. (thats because Simcops eat lots of donuts :)) <- this means you can't place your lots just everywhere. YOu need to have AT LEAST 500 cars (using the route query tool, double # when queryng structure itself) passing on your roads just to break even. Anything above that is your income. When you pack a road to its maximum, you'll get away with an additional 100 income a month. Though don't forget that commute times increase! Nothings free in this world :)

Streets version needs only 50 cars passing over it to break even. When this lot is fully packed, it gives you a meager 10 income a month. Though this lot doesn't increase commute times nearly as much as the 'major road checkpoint' does.

Generally speaking, sims will go out of their way to avoid a Road check point, but they don't mind passing a streets checkpoint.

- Both Lots have a DUAL FUNCTION. Both lots increase the desirability of the neighborhood by making it 'safer', they don't actually have a police function which reduces crime. I guess sims just like having a few cops around :). Basically the lots function as a small park.

*** For changes to take effect, you need to demolish old lots and build new ones on top of them! Also, delete the old plugins when installing new ones.

===========================

VERSION 1:

This lot (1x2) is similar to toll booths, it GENERATES INCOME for you, just in a different, but also realistic way.

What you have here are a few cops doing 'routine' traffic stops to fill your pockets with money! :)

Stats are mostly identical to toll booth, with exception of increased capacity. So if you need some more income, just place these on any ROAD (make sure it has lots of traffic), Even looks good in your residential areas <- better than those big tollbooths :)

"This sounds to good to be true!!!" <- your right, downside is that it increases your commute time! On a test map with 3000 working residents funneled through a chocke point with this lot, increased commute time from 12 min to 24 <- Though you can't say it 'doubled' it, because if you start out with 50 minutes commute time, you would probably end up with 62 min.

The intention of this lot is to create additional income, but in a realistic amount. So if you feel this needs some adjustment, let me know.

NOTE: This lot functions as a ROAD tile, you can't place it on avenues or streets. and you can only connect ROAD tiles up to it. You can find this lot under MISC transportation.

ALso, do to the 'randomness' of the props, the cars & sims sometimes fade in and out. While i never experienced it that everything was gone, it does sometimes happen that you only see the sims. Can't do nothing about it.

**future updates: expect streets version (1x1 lot) tommorow (12/17-18/2003) Sorry, no avenue or highway version.

So cool how they are on the shoulder like that. Could be a sobriety stop too. Is there a 'drunk' character in the props?

I love the idea; I wish that I could just plop these everywhere 'cus they look so cool, but then my roadways would be a bit clogged :P

dunno, haven't played original, so i dont know if a tollbooth was included. So if a tollbooth was in the original, then no, you don't need RH. But the best thing to do is to simply try it out.

this is a great idea, very creative. Tollboths would look silly in my rural areas, but this should fit in just nicely!

I know im kindof late, but i had a idea. This thing could also cut down on crime, with terrorism and all.

This really is an excellent thought out addition. If you ever do another version, it would be nice to see: euro road textures, a more instructive query, a small reduction to crime effect, and perhaps more animated eye candy. Good work, thank you!
