Rail Traffic Controllers  1.0

About This File

*** Updated Jul 28, 2008 *

This plugin contains two simple rail transit-enabled lots. By plopping these lots you can restrict rail traffic (and automata) to passenger- or freight-only. So you can have separate lines for your passenger or freight trains.

The installer copies all necessary files under your plugins folder. You only need to remove the left-hand- or right-hand driving version of the lots (which are identical, except for the placement of the signal prop).

The lots have no dependencies.

* Jul 28, 2008 Update: Added the rail signal prop that players have asked for. The prop is optional (delete the prop file if you don't want it). Lots plopped before the update don't need to be bulldozed, only they won't have the signal prop.

Great work Cogeo - only an 8/10 for now until you re-release it with something to distinguish it from a normal section of track (others have suggested lights - what about a simple lineside sign or something ?) - great idea though - need something to make my lines freight or passenger dedicated. Also is if bi-directional ?

Thank you (well, most of you) for the nice comments and/or the constructive criticism. Unfortunately at least two members rated these lots as little as 1 or 2, and this is far from fair rating, as such ratings are given to lots with no pic, bugged, spams, plagiarised etc...

...I made these lots identical to the rail track so that they don't disrupt the tracks' appearance, but as some members said it would be hard to find them after they are placed (and this IS constructive criticism). So I'm going to reupload them with some props on them, in a week from now or so. Suggestions on the props to be used are welcome.

Great job ! For the props, maybe have a sign, because in real life there would be a sign if a certain type of train is not allowed through. Just an idea, but great bat !

@danurve: There is no point in making these one way (though this might be technically feasible), as there are no one-way railtrack networks in SC4 and NAM. Even if someone makes these one-way, this won't save you capacity as actually railtracks have two paths in opposite directions (each track is one-way).

...If the NAM people make single tracks, yes this might be meaningful. Btw what do you need this for?

cogeo; though it might be possible to block freight inbound to a harbor city while allowing it to come into the city, in an effort to utilize a seaport.

Very useful. I have kept my sets of tracks seperate until now, but this will allow me to have some shared tracks in some areas to save space for extra zoning. Thanks! (I do look forward to the distinctive seperators though)

Great idea!!! I think you should add some sort of marking to help display which tile is the controller! Prehaps a sign or something? 9/10-Excellent Work!

any chance of following suit of the "no trucks" mod for roads, by putting a symbol on the track?

Exactly what I searched for! A must for my city with urban sunken passenger line and raised freight line in rural area. Great work.

Has anybody ever managed to get these to work? no matter what way I plop them, automata of the blocked type just passes straight through... I have the rh (American) version installed with RH automata? Great idea, but doesn't seem to work for me which is a shame
