Back in another era, the mode for long-distance, intercontinental transportation was aboard the great ocean liners, and among these was the French Line's stylish SS Normandie. This liner only sailed on the regular trans-Atlantic run between Le Havre and New York City for four years between its maiden voyage in 1935 and the outbreak of war in 1939, but within that brief time it became a legend as the most stylish art deco palace of the seas. Normandie burned and capsized at its pier in the Hudson River while being re-outfitted as a wartime troopship. The 2005 television documentary À bord du Normandie gives us a wonderful period glimpse into this romantic lost world, from the direct train connections and boarding at the terminal in Le Havre to the arrival at the Midtown piers of towering Manhattan. Travel like this is very elegant, but the color footage of the departure and arrival terminals, with their busy queue lines and concourses, seems oddly familiar. The film is narrated in French, but just the imagery alone may still amaze non-French speakers.

Legends have been around since the dawn of time. Some famous, and others infamous but all are immortalized and forever ingrained in the fabric of history. Even in recent history, stories like the RMS Titanic are still remembered through the centuries. But sometimes, the fable can overshadow more of the past. Launched before her ill-fated sister, the RMS Olympic had a fulfilling service life making countless Trans-Atlantic crossings and earning the nickname Old Reliable. She survived the first World War before returning to passenger service and ultimately scrapped in the mid 1930's. But now the Olympic is ready to make a port of call in SimCity 4. What say you? Is your city prepared for the arrival of a once-forgotten legend? About the upload- This file adds the RMS Olympic as an additional cruise ship. It will appear alongside another cruise ship without replacing it. To differentiate between the Olympic and Titanic (for those using the latter), the Olympic has all-black funnels and a darker superstructure similar to how she looked in the year 1915. Dependencies? None required. -

In 1912, a shipping company known as White Star Line would make history. Their pride and joy was the RMS Titanic, the largest ship in the world at the time. With furnishings to rival the finest estates of the old world, passengers were offered unrivaled comfort on each voyage. The Titanic was to make her first Atlantic crossing from Southampton to New York City via Cherbourg and Queenstown, leaving port on April 10th but four days later at 11:40 PM, Titanic hit an iceberg and as a result of a major design flaw, the ship sank in two hours and forty minutes, taking 1500 lives with her. More than a century later, Titanic's legacy lives on through books, movies and memorials around the world. Plans have been made to build full scale replicas of the ship. This upload brings the original Titanic to the waters of SimCity 4. About the upload- This file is a replacement for the Maxis Cruise ship. The ship will spawn at, and sail from the Cruise Ship port or other lot which generates the ship. Dependencies? None required. This project is sponsored by TBM In memory of those who lost their lives in the Titanic Disaster.
