Hi y'all,
NoviceRedux here, taking advantage of my "coronunemployment" to rediscover my love of SC4D, which I played religiously in middle school and high school. After messing around with a few fictional cities, I decided to take the plunge, and accomplish a goal I've had for nearly a decade: build a realistic-ish San Francisco.
The result: SimFrancisco.
For expediency's sake, I've gone with the SC4D default San Francisco map, and am merely trying to resize/proportionally map out the actual city to fit within this slightly-off map. I'm dividing the city into regions and grouping neighborhoods together as necessary. So far pretty happy with the results.
Before the photos, a few quick notes on my SimFrancisco:
I am using cheats like no tomorrow -- I've been playing this game since middle school. I'm comfortable with my skill level so the focus here is instead on achieving a sort of realism, not on petty concerns like water, garbage, electricity or money
I am relying on some of the AMAZING user-made plugins -- special shoutout to Mattb325 and also to all who've participating in the BAT project, which I think is a genuinely epic accomplishment by the SimCity fan community. In FiDi-Embarcadero, for instance, you'll notice the Transamerica Pyramid, the Salesforce Tower, and several other beautiful user-made buildings
Due to privacy concerns, my region map will not show city names to avoid showing mayor names
Now for the good part! Attached photos:
1. Presidio & Richmond area
2. Sunset / Golden Gate Park area, with Lake Merced in southern section
3. Daly City
4. Financial District & Embarcadero
5. Pacifica & Linda Mar
6. REGIONAL MAP - Work in progress
7. REGIONAL TRANSIT MAP - Work in progress
As a final note, I'm striving towards realism, so constructive comments re building locations, city configurations, etc. are welcome!
