How is it that every element in a dat-file is overridden by that very dat-file?
jeffryfisher posted a topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Every once in a while, I sanity-check my plugins with Datanode. For a while now, a few dat files have been testing my sanity. Somehow, I don't know how, every element in a dat file can be overridden... by that exact same file. An example is BusSign_NYC.SC4Model.dat (attached below). Datanode claims that everything in the file is overridden, and for each and every element, Datanode says the file doing the overriding is BusSign_NYC.SC4Model.dat itself (identical path, and yes, I have only one of them). It's in my RTMT folder, possibly from an expansion pack. BusSign_NYC.SC4Model.dat -
My project today was to reconcile (edit) some CAM-patible industrial lots to work with IRM. Some I relegated to dirty medium-density development, and some I cleaned up (tried anyway). When I ran Rivit's Datanode and looked for problems, I saw a bunch of "invalid values" replaced with zeros (not all of them mine). Are there rules somewhere to tell me what values are "invalid"? The numbers I was editing were in two tags: Pollution at center and Pollution Radii. I was careful to preserve the type. I was also careful to preserve the exact formatting (number of digits etc). Broadway Cruise Terminal is missing a dependency (How do I analyze?)
jeffryfisher posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I recently installed a bunch of cruise terminal plugins. I installed (I think) all of their dependencies. I ran DataNode, and it does not show any missing dependencies (that I can see). However, when I build the Broadway Cruise Terminal, I see an enormous brown-paper wrapped box where the terminal building ought to be. When I load the city with the brown box, I get a message about a missing plugin, but it's cryptic: I'm missing package 569896208. How do I coax DataNode into showing me what's missing? Could load-order be the culprit? (i.e. Could I have the dependency but not be loading it in time?) How can I use the 9-digit number to get to my happy ending?- 2 Replies
