  2. fun screen shots

What is going on here? LOL there are 3 problems here! -The Rural highway (RHW) has disappeared! -The bullet train line has disappeared! -There is a subway train stuck in the ground
  3. Avenue Roundabouts Development Thread

Unfortunately, it is not transit-enabled, and won't function with road/pedestrian traffic. If that was to be pathed (had failed in the past) , it would work great! The pathing problem is caused because an avenue is a two tile wide network and has unique pathing issues. I suggest working with a one way road (see my last post above) and that way the one tile network would have more flexibility. One ways have been successfully pathed in the past, the one way 3X3 roundabout being the most notable example.
  4. Awesome job tarkus! Keep up the great work! EDIT: A little update with the Big Dig/RHWMIS partnership: (taken from Big Dig thread) Originally posted by: blahdy allen_kuan: may be.. if there's some additional free time available; i'll consider it but the focus right now is to provide a transition piece exclusively for 2-lane RHW (3-lane RHW to follow later; Charles River Crossing will use 3 lane RHW pieces at transition). Model is now 95% completed. All tunnel boat sections are now complete, including lane markings. The road surface under tunnel roof need to be completed. The modelling is expected to be complete by beginning of next week for hand-off to RHW modding team -- if things go as scheduled: quote>
  5. RHW- Show us your pics!

Nice idea for a thread! I won't overwhelm this, but heres a bunch of my pics! EDIT: I use widescreen format, and I was not able to resize some pictures, as these may look odd compared to the ones I had sucess with. RHW and Big Dig lots in newly constructed city artery RHW used as the city's airport expressway, along with Big Dig junctions. Intersection with an avenue in the city's Olympic area RHW east of residential area RHW as urban throughfare near a major train station 8 lane collector/express style RHW Parclo B2 RHW interchange (4 ramps). Construction is widening the overpass to avenue, as it will be released in the next RHW version. -This picture is also intresting because it allows for a future 8-lane RHW to be built in the median and room at the sides can upgrade the interchange to a Parclo A4 (6 ramps). RHW and regular highway used near major, multi level interchange. Hoped you liked it!
  6. Lookin' good here, Tarkus. Nice to see the ramp improvements and the elevated sections. I, too, am pending about the NAM-compatible version of the RHW (V 0.17). I know that you cannot answer the release question, as qurlix is working on it. We haven't heard a response from qurlix in some time, too. Qurlix has changed his display picture recently, so that tells us that he is still active here. I'd bet that the next reply from him will be the new release... keeping us on the edge from his absence and then suprising us with the next version. Anyways, as always with the RHW team, best of luck with this stuff! Eager to play around with the version 0.17 stuff! -Haljackey

  11. Toronto VS. New York

Although I do agree with these comments of Toronto and New York City falling into different categories, I do have to rebuttal. Look beyond the classification of these cities. Toronto is a minor (2nd) class global city and New York City is a major (1st) class global city as stated above by others. Look at things affecting city life/culture etc. For example, Toronto has the Skydome (now Rogers Centre) and the Air Canada centre. New York City has Madison Square Gardens and Yankee stadium. Compare things like these and also geographical features like Foolilo stated. Things like these. Based on things like these, I'd have to go with Toronto. Its a inland waterfront city (rare) with a more modernized skyline than New York. It is the world's most multicultural city and is known just as well as New York City for tourism in the International Community. New York City was very modern 'back in the day', but Toronto has since overtaken this. The internationally recognized CN Tower is a major landmark that makes the city unique and has been growing at a healthy pace over the years with no signs of stopping (the suburb cities are growing too fast). Honestly, this is very tough to compare, which makes this a great VS. thread. Having been to both New York City and Toronto, its even more difficult for me!
  12. SamJam, I do recall Tarkus has stated that parclo-class interchanges will be part of the RHWMIS several pages back. Using various jughandle or loop ramps as well as curved/diagional ramps will allow for the design and construction of these. If they are not ready for the first release, you can still use one ways to make the interchange, but to a lesser realistic and functional extent.
  13. Awsomeness! I Cant believe it works! Congrats and best of luck completing the interchanges!
  14. Simtropolis Roadgeek Union--Requests

Wow, that sucks about the crashes! I have one request and one request only. I think it is the most needed sign in game, because it happens at every highway/ave/road transition! Would you also be able to make it really big so it is easy to notice in game??
  15. NHP Our Mini Earth Pack

    Wow! Best map ever!
  16. Your worst traffic jam pics

Well there hasn't been a good traffic jam photo for a long time... But I just captured some of my own and I'll post it here! The pictures may look a little werid, because I use widescreen and had to fit it to 800X600 somehow... Before.... You can tell that a crash is going to happen.... After! Smoke plumes! Zoomed out Cloverleaf is full.... everyone is stuck forever. Hoped you liked it !
  17. SimsZone presents: The SimForum BAT Team (SFBT)

Oh, thanks T Wrecks! I feel so embarrassed Thought Andreas Roth made it, but I guess not... Sorry for disturbing this thread!
  18. SimsZone presents: The SimForum BAT Team (SFBT)

If I am not mistaken, I think SFBT made this train station a while ago. Front: Back: (images may be disorted because I use widescreen format and had to comply with site image regulations) For some reason, it is not on the STEX anymore. Any reasons why? This is my favorite train station and I use a ton of them in my cities. However, I removed the the file by accident when I was doing a little cleanup of my plugins folder. I thought I could just download it again, but its gone! Can anyone help me find the station file? Thanks, -Haljackey
  19. Avenue Roundabouts Development Thread

Originally posted by: Andreas Roth IIRC, puzzle pieces actually were in the discussion for roundabouts a long time ago. The roundabouts should be drawn like the others in game, creating a box that turns it into a roundabout. The problem of this, like mentioned before, is the pathing issues and the occupied space in the middle. How about NOT using the avenue??? Instead, you could use a one way road to draw the network. Its only one tile wide and has been pathed before with the one way roundaboutes in game. To get it to work, drawing a 4X4 box (or possibly 8X8) would create another roundabout opposed to the 3X3. It would be as wide is it could, squeezing 2 lanes in the cornors as best as possible. This would leave a 2X2 centre piece, used for... anything, really. It would be a way around this problem, and the tighter network would be easier to path and would elimate the need for a puzzle piece as Nardo 69 stated. What do'ya think? -Haljackey
  20. Shanghai vs. Dubai

I'd have to say shanghai myself... it has a 22nd century skyline compared to Dubai's 21st century skyline. Besides, Shanghai is in a better location, near major Asian markets and has acess to the Pacific Ocean. Dubai is located in the middle of nowhere and it is a desert, having to import everything from food and water to supplies like wood and materials. Shanghai does not have this problem (for the most part) because of its location. Both cities have their major ups and downs, but this is just my 2 cents. I hope Shanghai wins in this "something vs something else" thread.
  21. NAM: Requests

Not sure if this has been requested before or if its even possible, but... How about a diagional gradual ground/elevated highway puzzle piece? I know that diagional textures are different than their counterparts, and may be more difficult to model, but it would be a useful puzzle piece in game. (Image may look a little crazy because I use widescreen format and had to compress it to comply with site regulations) What do you think? -Haljackey
  22. NAM General Discussion Thread

Speaking about the asphalt highway textures, the new highway to elevated road ramp in the newest NAM is missing an asphalt texture. The other Euro-styled T-road ramp looks perfect with the asphalt texture, but the tile closest to the elevated road is still concrete. Does anyone else have this problem??? (Image may look a little crazy because I use widescreen and had to compress it to comply with site regulations) Would there possibly be a way to fix this? I tried loading the asphalt textures after the NAM, but still there was this problem. Would there ever be a patch to fix this, or some texture override I could do to solve it? -Thanks! Haljackey.

I downloaded the newest version of the NAM and I can't even play the game anymore without the RHW! This is some amazing work Qurilx! I actually like the road/RHW intersection because it kinda works more like a ramp than an intersection, kind of like the new Euro T-road ramp in the newest NAM. Even with very little accel/decel space, (which has to be on a 1X1 tile,) at least there is some extra room there compared with nothing at all. Like you mentioned stoplights on a highway are very rarely seen, at least in most areas in the world. Now you mentioned that avenue/RHW intersections will not be ready for the next version (ver. 17), but will there be a avenue over RHW (and/or RHW over avenue) puzzle piece included? And about the sidewalks on the left that appear when something is placed next to the RHW, would it be possible to expand the RHW so it completely covers up the tile, with a shoulder/emergency lane on each side of the two through lanes (like the 2 lane each way RHW)? This would avoid the sidewalk from appearing, and the extra space, as Tarkus/Ryanb_SC4 mentioned, could be used for other purposes in the future. Anyways, best of luck and take it easy... I can't wait for the "new" RHW!
  24. NAM General Discussion Thread

It looks like that because you are using the Euro Highway mod, rickmastfan67. That is what happens to the interchanges when you use asphalt highways, as all the interchanges have been made for the euro road textures mod. By getting rid of that plugin, your interchanges will have US textures again, but your highways will be concrete instead of asphalt. Its a tough choice to make, either having an Euro line at inerchanges or having a concrete highway. Personally, I like the asphalt highway, so I sacrifice the interchanges for it to to stay with the US textures. I am Canadian, and there are no Canadian textures yet on the STEX, so I alternate between US and Euro from time to time.
  25. Avenue Roundabouts Development Thread

WOW! ScruffyDeluxe, thats amazing! Just Transit-enabling it would make it work!! Its too bad u or I have an idea how to do that though. Awesome job on it!
