  1. Devon Energy company announced plans on Aug 20 to build this massive 925 footer for OKC, current tallest in the city is Chase Tower at 500 feet. 1.9 million sf of office space for rapidly growing Devon, largest independent oil and gas company in the world. $750 million dollars. Huge glassy atrium open to public with retail. Construction starts Summer-Fall 2009, complete in 2012. Model showing how this dwarfs the skyline Rendering I'm definitely okay with the fact that this is extremely tall compared to current buildings... It looks incredible. According to a very astute reporter who knows every developer in town, more highrise proposals are on the way that will help make Devon fit in.
  2. Quantity before quality? Who says that? The tower has stolen the show lately, but the real story is all of the infill- downtown covered with 4-story loft projects. Rumors are intensifying that two developers on the west side of downtown, near Devon's site, are moving forward with plans for highrise buildings. Definitely could be some more interesting things added to the skyline to make Devon seem more fitting very soon.
  3. 54 floors, which works out to 17 or 18 ft per floor, but it's because the atrium is really tall and there is a design element on top shielding mechanical equipment, so regular floors are 15 ft. It does have some character- don't know if you can tell but it's not a box shaped base, it's triangular, so it has three faces, and it's sitting in a reflecting pool so that it'll look like it's floating. Also they will go for gold or platinum LEED certification
  4. Tropical Portuario

Intriguing... How will people think about the island? A mining disaster maybe?
  5. Severnaya

    Sweet roadwork!
  6. Macintosh City Journals

Just added my CJ, created on a Macbook Pro.
  7. Cape Newenham

I really appreciate all the planning you did before you ever started. The way you space the developed areas in the city looks really natural and you're right, it will be perfect when you want to add a highway or rail system in the future without doing damage to the city's urban fabric.
  8. Joburg

Wow, you have a LOT of Wall-to-Wall buildings! And you must have a lot of patience to let them all come in like that.
  9. Saint George - rural paradis

My favorite things: The 1 sq mile farmland, the sort of haphazardly shaped growth, and the riverparks! Well done.
  10. Nasisco

Very nice suburban planning, and I think the CBD is positioned really well. Those high-wealth neighborhoods look real comfortable!
  11. Yusonia - Archipelago [Adrian Union]

I really love Yusonia! You're awesome.
  12. Third Ward Lofts I

These are amazing.. More more more please.
  13. Best photo of your city

The real personality of Oklahoma City: My favorite shot of the Tulsa skyline (neighboring city!):
  14. Chase Center in Dallas

Bank One was purchased by Chase, so most of the Bank One buildings have been converted to Chase buildings. Unless Dallas is an exception to that rule for some reason. Nice building, it looks great... I'd love to see more Dallas on STEX!
  15. The Tropics of Haalu

Just want to say, I'm usually a bit of a lurker, but this is definitely my favorite CJ of them all. Great work here, really.
  16. MacKenzie Building Suburban Offices

It's great, but I really wish you would have put all the files that "may" be dependencies for this lot on the description instead of me waiting 20 minutes to download it (56k or less) only to find I might also have to download up to 12 dependency files...
  17. Maximizing Residential Population

Dilapidated Tri-Tip Towers holds like 15,000 $ sims.... You could get a lot of folks into a city at that rate.
  18. Wagner Hotel

I got a ton of growable brown boxes. I'll have to check my plugins folder- but there was also a problem when I unzipped the file, it gave me an error prompt.
  19. BLaM UninSpire

Ever seen Tulsa's University Club Tower, or Oklahoma City's United Founders' Tower? Because this is pretty much a combination of both of those... I like it! Not enough round buildings on the STEX.
  20. First National Tower

Almost exactly like the First National Tower in Oklahoma City, which was built at the same time as Empire State Building and ended up looking rather similar to it.
  21. Official BAT Request Thread

Sorry if some of these have been requested already... I'm sure that the OKC ones haven't been. London Bridge Tower? And in my hometown Oklahoma City, Leadership Square is a beautiful complex consisting of two glass buildings. The original design might make for a better BAT, a single 60-story tower concept that was abandoned for a more "intimate" approach back in the 80s. United Founders Tower is a 20 story building in suburban OKC currently being made into a residential building. (It was originally an office tower.) So it could be either commercial or residential BAT. It's really a cool building.
  22. 700,000 in a medium-sized

My largest city is on a medium tile (I only use mediums because of my slow computer), and this is what it looked like at 650k sims... It now has about 740k, and I still have quite a bit of room to grow in my Ht-Industrial areas.
