  1. WienerSchnitzel

    Version 1.0

    3,285 Downloads

*Whew*, sorry for not BATing for awhile. It's just been real busy lately. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy my newest lot, WienerSchnitzel. The classic restaurant was a triangle shape, but this is the exact same building from down the street where I live. I personally don't like their food, but the building looked like something that I'd want to BAT. However, they do make the best corn dogs! Anyways, I haven't done this in awhile, so I hope there weren't any errors in making this. I included what was supposed to be and hopefully is a ploppable and growable lot. Also, it appears the SC4 Tool doesn't work very well in Vista, so I couldn't really scan for dependencies. Sorry, but it should be the same as my other lots, unless something snuck in there. Dependencies: BSC MEGA Props Vol. 1 Enjoy!

Hey guys! Living here in good ol' Texas my whole life was great and I hope I'm stayin' here anyway! For those of you who don't know what an H-E-B is, it's basically like a Winn-Dixie. They sell groceries, have a small pharmacy, and maybe a florist. They are only found in Texas so, that's probably why you don't know about them. Please leave your comments, they are well wanted and loved. lol. Well, maybe not "loved". Just appreciated. lol. This is my first grocery/shopping center so I hope you enjoy it, and be sure to tell me what you think! Also, as some of you may have seen, I have released my 3D model of my cart collector or whatever they are called, so that you BATers can use them for your own creations. Please don't change anything but the color and name. Thank you. When installing, be sure to read everything for extra fun! Dependencies: None. Enjoy! Check out my thread here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=42&threadid=75098 This lot can also be downloaded here: http://www.freewebs.com/daddyo117272ver3/simcity4downloads.htm Be sure to check out my site: http://snooplegaming.wetpaint.com

  9. Daddyo117272's Official BAT Thread

Actually, it's very interesting to see this thread unburied from its depths. I have not BATed in awhile because I have been building up my skills in 3D modeling, and I have learned a lot. I will soon start BATing again, and I appreciate your liking for my BATs. I will hopefully be alive again here on ST, posting buildings of a newer and higher quality to better suit its users. I will officially re-open this thread to post all new content and open up all requests. It's been awhile, so please remember that when this is posted, all posts before this may or may not be irrelavent. Thank you, and hope to see you guys again soon!
  10. Project FreeWaves

FreeWaves is a game project that will revolve around the creation of a virtual world. Imagine a game where you could type in an address, and you would end up there virtually. If you've ever used Google Maps and its "POV" function, it's almost like actually being there. But, what if you could do anything once you got there? Meet new people, build a house, blow up a house, buy a car, get a 'job', etc. The best part, is it would be completely without consequence. Truck Driving Simulators, Madden Pro Football, The Sims. All of these games are great simulators, but what if it was all wrapped up into one HUGE network of people living in a virtual world, where you can be whatever you wanted to be? And it doesn't have to stop there, what if it moved on to even more games, like fighting in wars, traveling to other planets, building civilizations? A game with endless possibilities where you would be free to control, dominate, and create without cause or limitation. And the best part, it would be completely free to use. Right now, that's the idea. There are a few people on our team willing to work towards the creation of this game, but it's not nearly enough. We need recruits to help make this dream a reality. If you have ANY talent related to programming, modeling, music composition, etc., we may have a place for you. Any help would be very appreciated. I know right now my idea may not be as clear as can be, but feel absolutely free to ask questions. In fact, the more questions asked, the better. Thanks! Please visit Freewaves.net for more information!

  12. New Horizons [New Update11/28/09]

The above pic reminds me of a scene from the game, 'skate'.
  13. New Horizons [New Update11/28/09]

Just my opinion, I think downtown is a little too under construction. A lot of cranes, and some of them too brightly colored. Not an insult though, just my opinion. I personally like the crane over the hexagonal building because it looks the best, butyou didn't make these cranes so I know you can't do much about it. The stadium with the big parking lot looks cool. It's very realistic to have it near the waterfront where the fireworks could give a big finish or beginning to a big game.
  14. Community Segregation?

You know how there's the blue collars and white collars and rich and poor? I don't remember what they're called and don't have enough time to look it up, but will this separation be in Cities XL as it was in City Life? I never liked having to provide separate jobs and housing for these people. Makes the game much less fun. In SimCity, anybody could live anywhere (except SC5).
  15. Community Segregation?

I would love to convert some of my models for Cities XL. It might be fun!
  16. Community Segregation?

*whew*, that's a relief. I think that's what made City Life kinda off-set of being cool. Otherwise, I did like the new way your made roads and such. However, there needs to be railroads, subways, bus stops, etc. And probably a kick-start on custom content. Do people already make content?
  17. Shilito Tower

How did you get night-time to be so dark? Is it a mod?
  18. BAT Videos Forum

I don't know how popular this will be, but I think it will be a great idea to help people learn how to BAT, and learn new methods of BATing. Here, you would post a video of your PC Screen (you could use HyperCam, it's free). You would BAT as normal as HyperCam (or another program) video-tapes you BATing. I think this will greatly benefit newcomers or current BATers. Sorry, I do not have one, but I will post one soon. For hosting the video, you could use imageshack, (also free).
  19. BATs Currently in Progress

Scipio: The stained glass windows look really neat. I would assume coming up with a design for the windows must be pretty tough, in addition to making them. Delija21: The mixed glass shape is really neat. Did you use separate glass shapes or boolean? illTonkso: I know in reality the different glass textures are different, but I think the subtlety in difference is better that way. However, you should post a side-view.

The BAT4Max only works on 3DSMax 4-6. I have 9, so where can I go to get a more recent version?
  21. BATs Currently in Progress

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I'm planning to start my modeling in 3DS Max 9, and I was wondering what the differences are? I know there are quite a few, but also if I'm going to do this, you mentioned a script that allows me to export straight from Max? Where is it, and how would I install/use it? Also, I usually model my nightlights by hand. Every single window, which can be both good and bad, bad being that it takes a while. Good being that everything is how you want it. Anyways, this method has gotten me pretty far in high-quality BATing, but I would like to know how this randomize textures thing works. This is how far I've gotten with hand-made night lights: I did the same thing to the other side. The reason one wall looks darker than the others is because of the way I re-made it for the nightlights. I'm going to do the same for the other walls.

Jayo: I would add some kind of roof-access, and maybe some pipes.
  23. Invisibility Cloak

DailyTech has written several updates on "cloaking" technology of different kinds. The first reports involved a Russian professor who devised a new method of invisibility by redirecting light around objects. Later, U.S. and British researchers were able to use similar techniques to cloak a metal cylinder from microwaves. Next, University of Maryland reported successfully cloaking small 2D objects from all light waves. A recent overview on the topic of cloaking provided more insight. Now a new breakthrough in the art of illusion has been achieved. Researchers at the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center at the University of California, Berkeley have for the first time found a way to cloak 3D materials. They did this with not only one, but with two different materials. One approach uses a nano-fishnet of metal layers. The other uses nanoscale silver wires. Both approaches make what is known as "metamaterials" -- special manmade materials with properties not seen in nature. These materials have a negative refraction index, meaning they can bend light around them. The materials were developed by two separate teams, both under the leadership of Xiang Zhang. One team will be reporting its findings in the prestigious Nature journal, while the other will report in the journal Science. Both materials currently can only work with limited portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Researcher Jason Valentine who helped with the projects states, "We are not actually cloaking anything. I don't think we have to worry about invisible people walking around any time soon. To be honest, we are just at the beginning of doing anything like that." He explains the typical positive index of refraction saying, "In naturally occurring material, the index of refraction, a measure of how light bends in a medium, is positive. When you see a fish in the water, the fish will appear to be in front of the position it really is. Or if you put a stick in the water, the stick seems to bend away from you." What would a negative index of refraction look like? Mr. Valentine explains, "Instead of the fish appearing to be slightly ahead of where it is in the water, it would actually appear to be above the water's surface. It's kind of weird." The key to achieving such strange mechanics is to develop structures smaller than the targeted wavelength of light. Mr. Valentine's team targeted the near the visible spectrum, in a region used in fiber optics. Past methods have focused on using single-atom layers, but these have proven too hard to work with. The new method from Mr. Valentine's team has taken those designs and thickened them, by using multiple layers with nanoholes punched in them. He explains, "What we have done is taken that material and made it much thicker. We call it a fishnet." The other team used an oxide template to grow silver nanowires inside porous aluminum oxide. The spacing between the wires was smaller than the wavelength of visible light. This device works in the visible spectrum, refracting light. Despite his belief that cloaking is "not quite there", Mr. Valentine says both technologies could soon allow for a cloak of invisibility. He explains, "However, cloaking may be something that this material could be used for in the future. You'd have to wrap whatever you wanted to cloak in the material. It would just send light around. By sending light around the object that is to be cloaked, you don't see it." Professor Zhang is similarly enthusiastic, stating, "What makes both these materials stand out is that they are able to function in a broad spectrum of optical wavelengths with lower energy loss. We've also opened up a new approach to developing metamaterials by moving away from previous designs that were based upon the physics of resonance. Previous metamaterials in the optical range would need to vibrate at certain frequencies to achieve negative refraction, leading to strong energy absorption. Resonance is not a factor in both the nanowire and fishnet metamaterials." The research was government funded as the Defense Department has great interest in developing invisibility cloaks for its fighters, soldiers, and warships.
  24. HTML Problem!

I've already tried Google, Yahoo, and the sort to search for this, but it's almost impossible to find one that works for my situation. I need an IFRAME that resizes its width based on the document it is showing. Here's the website: http://www.freewaves.net On the home page, (after the enter screen), there's a NAV bar, a side menu, and some time/date widgets on the right. In the very middle is an IFRAME, and the menues change the document shown in the IFRAME. I want the IFRAME to re-adjust its height accordingly to match the height of the document displayed. Here is the current IFRAME tag associated with it: <iframe src="homesrc.html" width="750" height="1865" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" name="homebase">Your browser does not support this page. Please use Internet Explorer if possible.</iframe> Anyways, I really need your help! If at all possible, try to have a solution that doesn't involve the <head> tags, unless unavoidable. I've had lots of problems with them. Thanks.
  25. HTML Problem!

Ok, thanks! I'm still learning PHP via www.php.net, and I'm learning a lot about databases and SQL etc. It's very confusing, but I'm sure I'll get it soon.
