I bought SimCity 4 a while back, and was part of a (brief) conversation about the game and some of its options. I have been swamped with work and life-related situations, but I am more than ready to dive right into the fun!! I just tried to access the notifications from that conversation, but I understand that it's been too long to read past comments. I have tried to read my emails but am getting an error screen. Not sure why this is happening, so I figured I would post this thread. Can anyone help?

Hey everyone! It's so great to be here in this SimCity community! I am new to SimCity - I played the original eons ago, so honestly, it's like starting fresh and new to the game! I would love to dive right in and share on the fun, but I wanted to make a quick post here, saying "Hey!" to everyone, and to ask if you guys have any advice for a newbie...? I am playing SimCity 4 Deluxe - looks like an amazing game! Also, I heard that SimCity 4 allows players to make their own icons, buildings, etc. Which I think is cool, can anyone shed some light on how that works? Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!

Cyclone Boom, thanks for your help!! With the basic fix download, do you recommend that I download all of those individual files, or is it just that one initial file? Also, when downloading the DLC, where should I save those files? And can you explain more about the mods, mainly where to find them and how to install and use them? I plead ignorance, I don't know much about this sort of thing. I just want to get the maximum experience out of SimCity 4.

Hey everyone! I know I have been away for a while, life got complicated and snowballed on me, but I am back! I have been watching a multitude of SimCity 4 videos and everything, and am really psyched to dive right in! A few more questions – first, I was looking at screen shots of the game, I saw some pictures of buildings including a “mayor’s mansion”, some high rises, and even the Eiffel Tower! Are these buildings in the original game, or are they part of mods that other players have made? Also, I know that there is so much downloadable content with SimCity 4, would it be recommended that I download those files before playing, or start with the original game and move from there? I saw a gameplay picture with a mansion next to a waterfall – how was that made? I would love to have a city with a setting like that!! The gameplay videos that I have watched have shown different ways to start and maintain a successful city, but cheats were used in a couple of them. Honestly, I don’t like using cheat codes for any games, unless it is a game that I had previously completed and wanted to use codes to facilitate gameplay options. Are there any more suggestions before I dive right in?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question - I was doing a bit of game research and looked up SimCity in Wikipedia, and apparently SimCity 4 is not the most recent version. Apparently, there was a game released afterwards in 2013. My question is - what is the difference between that one and SimCity 4? Can you guys recommend one over the other? I am not a lunatic when it comes to most games, but when I come across a game like this one, I usually want to have the most recent version. Sadly, SimCity is no exception. But I wanted to ask everyone on their thoughts on SimCity 4 vs SimCity (2013)?
