  1. I'm still a noob (I've only built one city, and that was as I followed along a series of YouTube tutorials by MoveTheMouse). But I've added a few mods and assets to personalize my gameplay. I was very excited to see the new release of Metro Overhaul mod 9.0 -- what an achievement! Unfortunately, I haven't been quite as successful as I'd like. I've plopped down the Metro. Depot. I've build a few stations, and I've laid track (underground). I created to lines, and everything looks great. But, I don't get any metro trains spawning. The Transport info screen shows 0 vehicles on both lines. It sometimes switches to a "1", but then immediately goes back to "0". Sure seems to me that I've done something wrong in setting it up. It looks like it's trying to spawn, but then something goes wrong and it's back to zero. Rats! I have connected the Depot to the nearest station. Because this station is part of my metro loop, the connection is a "Y" branch. Is this okay? What do I need to do to get metro trains to spawn and circulate through my lines? UPDATE: Hooray -- I managed to fix it on my own. For some reason, although I knew the Depot was required, it didn't occur to me that the routes needed to start there. But they do (both start and end there).
  2. As a newbie myself, I feel your pain. But I think you'll find a ton of tutorials, demos, "Let's Play", etc. on YouTube. There are also some great guides and tutorials (mostly on Steam). Remember, Google is your friend!
  3. I've just started playing Cities: Skylines. I really wanted to compare the themes, and see if I could tweak the settings to my liking. Here's a little web page that shows them all (Base + Winter, "plain" and with the Natural Beauty custom theme, and fiddled with using the Render mod).... http://lieuallen.mypressonline.com/CSThemes/
  4. I've just started playing Cities: Skylines. I really wanted to find good overview images of all the maps, so I could compare them. I couldn't really find what I was looking for, so I captured images from the Map Editor. Here's a little web page that shows them all.... http://lieuallen.mypressonline.com/CSMaps/
  5. Never mind! Since the example I picked happened to be included in my DAMN menu, it turns out the file that needed to be edited was in zzzzzzz_DAMN_Hidden. All is well!
  6. I'm new to SimCity 4. Having a great time! I've downloaded some plug-ins, and am liking the diversity it gives my city. But, the shopping centers and commercial stores have me a bit confused. Why in the world do they have a "plop" and monthly cost? I don't pay for "normal" commercial development. But I'd sure like to put a store or restaurant I know in my town. I've tried to read tutorials, and I've run iLive's Reader. At random, I picked SimGoober's Red Robin. On my system, it shows a plop cost of 2900 and a monthly cost of -99. In the plugin folder, there are 3 SC4Lot files (There are 2 2x3 lots and one 3x3 lot -- I don't really know why. In My DAMN listing, there is only a single 2x3 choice.) and 1 DAT file. I found the plop cost in the exemplar part of one of the 2x3 SC4Lot files. I don't see it listed anywhere else. That's confusing, but I'll press on. I don't see a Budget:Cost entry anywhere (is that why it shows as -99?). I edited the plop cost to be 100, and added a Budget:Cost entry of 0. I backed-up the original file in another directory (separated from SC4), and saved my changes. But when I run SC4, it still shows the original values of 2900 and- 99. If I reload the file in Reader, it shows my values of 100 and 0. Time to scratch my head! Any idea what this noob is doing wrong?
