  1. Cadott Bay

Welcome again, my friends! After trying out many things in my last projects, I am starting a new one now. Here it is: Cadott Bay. This one will be rather large. A new region on a handmade map. With enough space for many cities and towns and villages of course. Whose of you who have seen my last attempts ( A UK Village and Laurence ) will know what to expect. I will keep this first post as a table of contents and as a place to put important notes. I hope that you will enjoy this project as well as I will (hopefully). One more thing: Please note that I won't update very often. Real life is important, too. But I surely will post updates from time to time. We will see...
  2. Hey, nice to hear, that it works so easily. If you are modifying succesfully some train stations - do you think it would be possible to share them with whose mac users who don't have windows? I am asking because I have the very same problem here (as well as all other mac users), but am unable to fix it myself.
  3. Hi fellow Mac players, I have a question. When I look at my cities, I always see strange, ugly lines between all developed tiles. Here are some pictures to explain what I mean: Zoom 4: Zoom 3: Zoom 2: As you can see, the lines are not the normal grid lines, as they do not appear on open grass land. And turning the grid on or off doesn't change them. They are clearly visible in all zoom stages, but most disturbing in zoom 2. These lines appear everythere, at plopped tiles, at roads, at grown lots, at farms... There are only a few exeptions: Between GLR tiles there are no such lines and as well between ped-mall-tiles (NAM pieces). Now the question is: Do you have this lines as well? Is there a possibility to fix this? I have seen that all PC players don't have them. But there are even some Mac CJs, there these lines don't appear. Does this only happen on certain computers? I have a Powerbook 12, 1Ghz, 768MB RAM, nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 32MB. The game version is the german edition of SimCity4 + RushHour Expansion, distributed by Application Systems Heidelberg. I have changed every graphic setting, but without succes. Please let me know if you have the same issue or not. And if there is a solution to it. Thank you barnatom
  4. Macintosh City Journals

You can put my CJs in your list as well, if you want to. I am playing on a Mac, too. barnatom
  5. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

Well, I have a powerbook - changing the graphic card seems unpractical. BTW, there is a GeForce FX Go5200 32MB in it, isn't that a card by Nvidia?
  6. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

Thank you very much oranger74! I tried to reproduce your settings, and many more again. But without succes. The grid lines stay. Seems to depend on your computer hardware...

Replies: Bongoswimp: Thank you, I am glad that you like Astoria. thestis: Welcome to Simtropolis! And welcome to Cadott Bay, too. But sorry, you cannot download this region. You can only look at the pictures of it here. Cjah: Yes, PEG's things work well with the castle. I wish I could use the other castles here on the STEX, but they all have the Maxis castle as dependency. And since I cannot register on their site, I don't have it . Simworld 056132: Thank you very much! You are welcome. Leini: Thank you for this nice comment! Cadott Bay, #32 regional views This time I have only a small update for you. Here are some pictures showing the region as it is developed right now: 32.1 32.2 32.3 I hope you like this.
  8. Fisk Insurance

Great!!! A real tall w2w building! I was waiting for something like this for my american style cities. Thank you so much! And it is looking great!
  9. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

Jerebannus: Thank you for trying to help, but this is not the usual grid. You can see that in the pictures I posted above. On the open grass areas there are no grid lines. And pressing 'g' doesn't change the lines I am talking about. The lines appear between developed tiles and are not affected by the usual grid. This is clearly a bug in the graphics system. barnatom
  10. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

zelgadis: Thank you very much for your answer. It is the same I got some months ago. But I still do hope (see post of oranger74). oranger74: Thank you so much! This is exactly what I thought. This problem seems to affect only some Macs. Could you post your system specs (especially video card) as well as your graphic options of SC4? That would be very helpful. Since this problem does not occure on your (older) Mac, I am thinking it could be related to the video-card. Do you have the hardware or the software graphic option checked? About the updates: I was unable to find the v101 update. However I have the other ones. Could you provide a link to the missing one? Thank you.
  11. Simtropia

JayStimson: As far as I can say (I lived in spain for some years) the olive trees are a very exact recreation of the real ones. They have that 'gum drop' at the bottom, there the trunk goes over to the roots. At least the old ones. And they have silver shining, dark green leaves as well. Perhaps the lower parts of the trunks are a little bit too bright, too much sticking out of the green ground texture... The other trees would be better without this thick base, perhaps...
  12. Simtropia

Welcome to page 54 of Simtropia (one of the best CJs ever) OMG!!! This surely are the most beautiful and realistic and detailed trees ever seen in SC4! I especilly like the olive trees, the other ones are a little bit too fictional for my taste but looking great as well. ... imagening what other trees might be done ... Great work!!!

Thank you very much for all your nice words, dfnva, jacqulina, aleking, Simworld 056132, CDI_spy, mudspreader and PhilsCafe. I hope you will like this one, too. Cadott Bay, #31 the castle of Astoria 31.1 31.2 31.3 31.4 31.5 31.6 31.7 31.8 31.9 31.10 Have fun!
  14. Laurence

Laurence Hi to everyone again. I have started a new project some time ago. It is, or will be, an american style city of medium size. Now some areas are starting to look like I want them to look. So I thought I could as well show them to you to hear what you think about it. Those of you who have seen my UK village will know that my first and most important goal is realism. Realistic landscape, realistic city shape, realistic transport and realistic building. It is hard to get it and takes a lot of time. But I think it is worth the efford. First, as a teaser, I will show you some details, some impressions of how this new city looks like. The pictures are in no particular order and at least this time I will not explain them in depth. Have fun! 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 1.10 1.11 1.12 1.13 1.14 1.15 Please leave a comment if you like the pictures. I will continue this CJ, showing you more of Laurence, if you are interested.

Replies: I am very glad that again so many of you have left a comment. This kind of support is getting me forward to new updates. Thank you! rooker1, Bongoswimp, magpieshooter, jacqulina, jglei701, Kwakelaar, bat, GMT, Cjah, AlexNielsen7, Nardo69, Thut, threeswept, Micah, pikatchoum, Falcon49 and CDI_spy: A big thank you to all of you! Vandy: Thank you for your long reply. I hope that the walls will be made as well. But at this moment it looks like Constantina is busy with other things, so we may have to wait some time. About the plaza lots: I still haven't found someone who is able to mod, package and upload them. If you know someone, please let me know about it. And thank you for posting a link to my CJ in your 'plopable water' thread, I am very honoured. I will surely show more images of this kind of water here... mike_oxlong: Welcome to Cadott Bay! I am glad that you like it. mattb325: Thank you for visiting and posting! I feel very honoured about it, because I really adore your own work. Oh, yes, sometimes I think about what would be possible if I could only use the LotEditor. But I do my best with all the great things that are available on the STEX. I am glad that I could help you by posting the link to mayang's texture site. Good bye till next time, here or in your BAT thread... MasterPlanMan: Thank you! I am happy that you like the riversides in Auxerre. I did my best. Simbourgeois: Thank you for opening page 11! Some things I need your help for: I am still looking for someone able to do the modding and uploading of the Kwakelaar plaza lots. If you want them on the STEX please help! If you know someone who might be able to do it, ask him or her. The issue about the ugly grid lines was brought up again at the beginning of this CJ. To resume it: In every image posted in this thread you will notice some ugly dotted lines between all developed tiles, but not on open grass land. These lines are not the normal grid lines. Some months ago, in my UK village CJ, someone told me that this is a bug of the Mac version of SC4. But recently I saw some other Mac CJs that didn't have these lines. So I would like to know how many Mac players have the same problem. I opened a thread about this issue in the Mac section of the forums, but there seem to be few visitors over there. I posted some images in this new thread clearly showing the problem. View them here . If you are playing on a Mac as well, please let me know if you have this lines or if you don't. Or if you know something about this problem, perhaps even if there is a solution, please let me know about it as well. I would really like to understand this issue better. Cadott Bay, #30 first pictures of Astoria Some of you will remember my UK village. This Astoria is a little bit like it. I will show you some randomly picked images this time, to give you an idea of the look and feel of this city: 30.1 30.2 30.3 30.4 30.5 30.6 30.7 30.8 And here is an overview of the town centre: 30.9 I hope you will like this new town as well.
  16. Rail Trestle Over Highway

Simgoober has the same building on JayStimons Orthogonal Jetty Walls Lots. He posted a picture of it in the Jetty Walls thread. Perhaps this could give us a clue...
  17. Rail Trestle Over Highway

jeronij: I don't have the plop mod. So it cannot be the reason for the building to appear. But it is definately a Maxis building.
  18. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

Well, I cannot update my game, because I cannot register on Maxis site (the serial numbers of the Mac version don't work there). However, as far as I know, there are no updates for the Mac version. Only a small patch (168 kB) fixing some minor problems. I have installed that one. I have allready installed the game twice, but without any change in this issue.
  19. Graphic Problem in Mac Version

Hi again, I would be very happy to get some replies here. Even if you don't have this problem but are playing on a mac - please let me know about it. I would really like to know if it is only my problem or if there are some others who have the same graphics bug. Thank you very much... barnatom
  20. Corrina Bay - Rock and Water

Hey, I like your region very much! It is so detailed, has so many different aspects - great! Did you download this region or made it yourself? The first developement is looking nice, too. But I can't judge it better until you show us some closer looks of your cities. Keep going!
  21. Rail Trestle Over Highway

Hey, really good idea, and it is looking fantastic! But I have a problem with it: A building appears on top of the bridge and I am unable to bulldoze it. Here is a picture: http://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/StrangeBuildingOnBridge.jpg. Does someone else have this problem?
  22. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

I already used all of your buildings in my cities, but never came here to have a look at your current work. Now I am very impressed! Finally we will get some wall to wall buildings taller then 5 stories! Great!!! And I really like the way you do them. The details are amazing and the textures as well. The 'photoshoped' image of your wall to wall buildings completeley blew me away. I always wanted to have such blocks in my cities! Can't wait to see this buildings in game, please continue your work!

Replies: jestarr: Thank you for posting this image. Yes, I was aware of the issue with the height of the wall segments. However, I thought it was best to limit the height to perhaps twice the height of the NAM pieces (Ithink this will be 30 meters). This wall is not supposed to function everythere. And I think it won't look good if the height is too large. One thing about the test lots you made: I thought of making the straight wall segments 1x1, with a wall prop only slightly overhanging, but without any slope tolerance so that the lot would raise itself and build a foundation. But this foundation should be hidden behind the overhanging wall. topcliff: Well, thank you. But I think it would be better to have one person who is able to modd, package and upload the plazas. AlexNielsen7: Thank you very much, here is the next update. I hope you will like it. jacqulina: Thank you for your nice post. I am glad that you like the images... Kwakelaar: I am very proud that you like Kwakelaar Square. Thank you. bkmh88: Welcome to Cadott Bay! I am glad that you like it that much. And I am always happy if someone is able to get some new ideas off it. And now I will show you something completly different: 29.1 29.2 29.3 29.4 29.5 29.6 29.7 29.8 29.9 29.10 29.11 29.12 29.13 29.14 29.15 To everyone: I am still looking for someone who is able to check the plaza lots Kwakelaar made for me and to modd them and to upload them on the STEX. It would be nice if we could include custom menu icons - I will make them. So, if you know how to do this, please leave a message here and we can get them up on the STEX.
  24. Cadott Bay

Page 10 !!! Here is another sketch of the orthogonal wall segments: The blue areas are overhanging. jestarr and jeronij, do you think this will be possible?
  25. Cadott Bay

Replies: rooker1: Thank you. I hope I will find someone to do all the things needed to upload them. bat: Thank you again! jestarr: Thank you for giving more information. I am not sure if I understood all you said. Perhaps you could post some pictures to explain it better? AlexNielsen7: Thank you, I am glad that you are exited about this CJ! I will try to release them. topcliff: So you would be able to do the modding? Do you know how to add custom menu icons as well? It would be great if you could help us. DragonAnime: Thank you! So, your tunnel is a transition from rail to subway? Can you plop it on a slope as well? Here is another sketch of the new walls showing how I imagine the top part: What do you think? Constantina is going to make this new walls. She has posted some images allready here: Constantina's BATs . Have a look!
