  1. This is a tutorial that will show you step by step on how to make Roundabouts. Make sure you have the October 2005 NAM installed on your computer, which is conveniently located on the home page under the Modds and Downloads. Also be sure to click the plugins option after you extracted the NAM file to your computer. This will allow you to create the Roundabouts. First thing is first. Start up Sim City 4 Rush Hour. Step 1: Select street from the menu or push “alt R”. Now draw a strip of a street like the below picture. Step 2: Draw 3 more strips of streets just like in Step 1. Use the below picture for a guide. Step 3: Make any two strips you have just drawn into a “T” intersection like above. Make sure they are across from each other. Step 4: Connect the “T” strips to the strips of roads that have not been connected. Repeat on the opposite side. Step 5: And you are done. Feel free to place something in the middle of the Roundabout in to make it more appealing. You can also do the same with one-way streets. Just follow the same steps as above but use the one-way streets instead. Just draw a 3x3 circle of one-way roads like above and connect it with roads, streets or one-way roads. Feel free to place something in the middle of the Roundabout to make it more appealing. You can also make Roundabouts with roads as well. Just zone a 2x2 circle of roads and you can make the above Roundabout by having roads or other transportation options for more realism.   2. Hey all, It's been awhile since I have been active here on Simtropolis, but nonetheless I have run into some issues that someone may help me. So I went to play GTA III (amongst other games/programs) on an XP machine and had a message popped up and said Grand Theft Auto III requires at least 12mb of video memory. I have searched around the internet and havent found much luck to solve this issue. It should note that I have adjusted the visual memory to both ends, and of course adjusted the screen resolution of no such luck. When I use the dxdiag, under the display the 3 directx features are "disabled" and can't change them. Also, when using windows media player and a couple of 3rd party dvd players that were pre installed on the computer (windvd), I can't play any videos but hear sound... Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks, Mark

    The computer could run windows 7, but its not worthwhile since its a rather older machine (2006). Plus with only 2gb of ram on it and a lot of older specs compared to computers nowadays, reinstalling windows was smart as it actually helped eliminate a lot of corrupt files that were also embedded into it. Plus I have older games that run flawless on the XP Thanks again for everyone's help.

    So it is now working, it turns out that direct x was corrupted. So I had to unforunately had to reinstall windows and got a nice "fresh" start. Needless to say SC4 is working again. Thanks for your help.

    Unfortunately nothing was found after a comprehensive virus/spyware check...after some more troubleshooting I have noticed this under the dxdiag diagnostic tool... Direct X features: DirectDraw Acceleration: Not Available Direct3D Acceleration: Not Available AGP Texture Acceleration: Not Available In addition to I cant change anything as these options are grayed out...and yes the weird thing is directx is installed

    Alright thanks for your help so far...i'm in the process of running a virus check on the computer and will update asap. Yes it is still online although I will pull the plug on the online once everything is smooth sailing.

    Hi thanks! It's funny how it was working a day before this issue happened. Actually everything was working (gta 3 windvd sc4) I've tried system restore but nothing happened. Anything else that might fix this problem without upgrading etc

  10. Hi all, I have run into a small problem with SC4 that hoping someone could help me. Basically I load a city and start playing. When I want to zoom in or out I use the 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 keys on the keyboard (not the calculator side). I have no issues with zoom 2-6 but when I hit the 1 key the game just crashes. I have attached he exception report to this message from the last crash moments ago. As i'm not sure if this will help anyone or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do admit, zoom 1 I don't use as often but it would be nice for it work again and also it should be noted I havent had a problem like this before.     The Amazing Race: Simtropolis Style I would like to announce my new game here on Simtropolis. In order to make this work and successful I will base this off my favourite reality TV show. If you’re new to the TV show then I will explain the basics. All you need to do is race around the world and get to the finish line first without getting eliminated. However since I’m not a millionaire your prize will be just bragging rights and possibly a JavaScript icon that says you have won the Amazing Race. However that is not in my jurisdiction and is up to the Administrators here at ST. Ok let’s begin. First thing is first, is that who would like to join in? However there is a max capacity of 22 people. First come, first serve. After I have the max number of people I will pair everyone up completely by random in 11 teams of 2. Then we will begin the race around the world (well the internet/Simtropolis). How the game works: It will require you and your teammate to work together and find stuff. Each leg will ask you different questions. Some examples include, providing pictures, possibly answer a certain question about the city or country your currently in and so on and so forth. This will be required to move onwards in the race. What will be asked will be completely random so be prepared for the unexpected as it will vary from each leg of the race. We will start off somewhere in the USA working our way around the world until we have a winner. However teams will be eliminated as the race progresses. If this game gets very popular we will start again with 22 new players allowing different people to race. A Typical Leg: Fly from City A to City B. From the airport find the “tower”. One team member must provide a picture of it. From the “tower” drive yourselves to the City C. Once arrived in the city, head to the city hall to find your next clue. If I don’t announce what happens next, then all teams will be required to wait until I post the next clue before continue racing. This also gives your team a chance to “catch up” as you will have some time preparing for the pit stop without falling too far behind. On every leg there will be roadblocks and detours. Also fast forwards and yields will be included but more sparingly throughout the race. Roadblocks: One teammate must contact me by a private message to receive the roadblock. The player who decides to do the roadblock must post this answer when the team checks into the pit stop. Failure to do so will result in a penalty. Detours: Will be a choice of two tasks. You and your teammate must choose and agree on one. These will have there own pros and cons. Once agreed upon one teammate must provide the answer at the pit stop. Fast Forwards: There will be only 2 of these during the entire race. These will allow you to skip everything in the current leg and head directly to the pit stop. Once I have announced the fast-forward on the particular leg any team member must contact me by private message to receive the question or a task. If multiple teams have gone for the Fast Forward then I reply to the earliest one first and so on and so forth. Whichever team answers correctly first your team will receive the fast-forward and you can head directly to the pit stop. Be forewarned that your team can only use one fast forward during the race. Yields: There will also be 2 yields during the race. This will allow you to force another team to stop racing. Once I have announced the yield on the particular leg you must contact me by private message (from your team) to let me know which team that your team wishes to yield. Once the deal is done I will post announcing the team that has been yielded. The first team who contacts me will receive the "yielding" power. As the same with the fast-forward you can only use the yield once during the race. If your team has been yielded then there will be a penalty for your team. There will also be 2 non-elimination legs during the race which allows your team to continue racing if your team finishes a leg last. However your team will be issued a penalty when you check in at the pit stop. The Pit Stop: After you have accumulated all of your answers (with the exception of the fast forwards) you may check in to the pit stop. To check in each member of the team must post the required answers (that you have been designated for) to the forum. If you are correct I will announce what position you have placed. After everyone has checked in then we will take a break for approximately 1 week and then you will see the next leg of the race posted and we will resume racing. All teams will leave at the same time regardless of where the finish the leg before. All teams will also be asked the same set of questions however to make it more difficult and challenging you will be required to provide a different picture or piece of information that I ask for each question then the other teams. Penalties: If you or your teammate edits his/her final answer post will receive a penalty for their team. The penalty will be a dice roll by me. The same rule will apply if your team gets yielded, or you answer your teammates question. The outcome of the roll will correspond to how many teams may check into the pit stop before you can check in. On non-elimination legs if your team finishes last you will be required to finish 1st on the next leg of the race or the dice roll penalty will be the result. Final Notes: Once I have all the players, I will announce the teams and will provide the official starting time. Also I work 12 hour shifts at my job and I do realize that we all live across the world therefore you can expect to see each new leg during random times throughout the 24 hour cycle. I will be generous though and announce to everyone who is still racing when the next leg will be posted (only the specific day) once everyone has checked in. As I said before this game will require a lot of participation and of course you and your teammate must work together in order to succeed and win the Amazing Race.     if you go to the omnibus, I created a roundabout tutorial that should help you out. Keep in mind it doesn't have any mention of the avenue roundabouts as it was created prior to the June release of the NAM. If you have any questions please PM me.
