A few patches ago (August?), fire helicopters worked fine, but I am noticing issues now also. Like what tnemelkfoo said, try turning off all fire/ hazmat truck modules and only leave helicopters on. This will force the game to dispatch the helos first! Hopefully that works for you. -
Hey all, I am playing a lot in sandbox mode to create and test some new city layouts and city specializations. I'm running into this crazy issue where I can't get any tech level buildings in my city. I've nearly maxed out education, 100% enrollment, colleges and universities, high land value, low taxes in my cities across two sandbox regions... all the prerequisites that are required in normal mode. Because this is sandbox mode, all electronics buildings are unlocked, ploppable, and work just fine. However, for the life of me, I can't get any medium or high-tech industry at all. Any thoughts? Not sure if this is a bug with sandbox mode, but let me know if I am missing something or if anyone has seen this before also. Thanks!

Great information, Yaffle! I had no idea the export trucks spawned in the region -- I'll be deleting my truck modules on my export only trade depots. As for trucks changing their cargo, my experience is that Trade Depot trucks can morph from, say, an ore truck into a coal truck, but I have yet to see a truck from a coal mine change cargo ability. Regarding your issue with disappearing trucks, this has plagued me too. Maxis claims this has been fixed/corrected in the patches, but the problem may still exist if a pre-patch city has an existing trade port and recommends bulldozing and rebuilding. I have tried this, and it seems to work marginally better -- worth a try? Thanks again for the detailed reply.

Has anyone seen the blimp that hovers over the stadium during events? Does this actually happen? I would love to find out. -
[MOD Pack] Plop Outside City Box & All my others

Just noticing this same issue after the recent patch -- it is limited to the normal plop mode, though, not the anywhere-chain plop menu option via the mod itself. Example, I was upgrading my power plant and demolished the 4/4 existing generators. However, when time came to plop new ones down via the standard plop men, each generator equaled 2/4 of the total module limit. The result is two generators maxing out the four allowable modules! One can by pass this by using the mod's anywhere-chain plop menu, but it's tough to align plops to your lot, especially if it is facing a different direction. ckrock04, you can uninstall the mod and plop modules normally, then go back and flip on BOC -- not ideal though. Anyone else experience this/ thoughts? -
I am getting this issue almost every game session, right around the 1 - 2 hour mark. Sometimes, it's a constant fire truck siren that doesn't go off, a constant car horn, or another building sound on repeat or "broken record" state. The worst of this bug is sometimes when I query a building, like the trade depot, and the game plays the loudest, volume to the MAX, ear-piercing truck horn. Even when I have volume for the entire game turned to low, this bug somehow overrides this. Very annoying, and even dangerous, if you are playing with headphones on, like I do. I wince, each time I query the trade depot. There are a few open tickets with Maxis about this issue, but most blame the user's setup/ sound card...

Leptooners, great job crafting the poll -- it's difficult to evaluate the love/hate relationship with Sim City right now in a binary yes/no question, so kudos on well-worded Q&A's. I definitely stopped playing once the initial excitement and joy wore off from the bugs, the crashing, the connectivity, ... However, I am slowly, with every subsequent patch, enjoying the game a bit more and returning more often. In fact, just yesterday, I was so happy to have played an entire session with only 2 crashes! But that's the problem, right there: I should not be glad this game -- three months past launch -- is only now just meeting my bare expectations. What's more, it pains me that Maxis is whoring out development time on at-cost DLC, when there is so much still to be done with this game. Just look at the airships DLC that is 1/6th of the original game cost... what an insult. I love(d) this franchise. After waiting so long after SC4, it's really tough to hate the game, but at the same time not possible to love the game in its current state, too. SC had so much potential, and in many ways, still does, but it was squandered away by an unfinished product. The only word I have for it is tragedy. -
Below is a graphic from the Maxis blog showing happiness gain/loss from tax rate, by wealth class: According to this, to attract High Wealth residents, lowering taxes to 6% would not give High Wealth residents any more incentive than 10% would. Anybody going to purchase the Airships port?

Supposedly the Airship Port also spawns an advertising/media blimp that circles your stadium when there's a game/event. Anyone succeed in doing this? Though I want the DLC, my opinion is that it is overpriced and will most likely be discounted in the future, especially when you compare the Amusement Park DLC. -
I think its the money/tax cheat/mod you talked about earlier. That's really the only thing that stands out... you could just piss off the citizens so they'll appreciate the life they had... And where's this riot mod I've heard about? I've scoured STEX and I haven't found it... Good luck, mate. Any updates on the city?
