Billboard all over the city buildings!!
Shazlow posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Is there a mod that eliminates the silly billboards spamming all over my my buildings? Here is a pic showing you the problem: https://i.imgur.com/l2aXAGY.jpg Also, I have the seagull exterminator mod, but there are still seagulls in the game - I now have to play with no sound because of the terrible sound these gulls make. -
can't see city layout ... too dark... can't see buildings... can't see important stuff i can see in light.. how i turn off the night pls ???

Buildings level up constantly - broken cycle
Shazlow posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Hello. I have many buildings in my city which try to level up but somehow can't. It is a problem mainly with level one buildings. They try to level up, but can't reach level 2. When they stop building, they reset back to level one and build all over again - it's a cycle. How can I fix this? -
NO Botanical Garden is UNACCEPTABLE and the game is UNPLAYABLE
Shazlow posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
The Botanical garden was one of 5 assets available to those who PRE-ORDERED the game. Now I don't care for the garden itself, I care for the red/orange flower bed and fountain of the garden which has been used by modders to create new parks on the workshop. The fact that my base game is missing these two assets means I can't download these parks, meaning my game-play is severely limited. Also, the fact that the pre-ordered version of the game gave you 5 additional assets seemed a little over the top and unfair anyway, especially when sim city only gave you the launch arcology and the Mr Voo Police station. I literally can't play this game because I'm missing two small assets, the flower beds and fountains that came with the botanical garden asset. It really is too unfair. The whole pre-order system smacks of inequality and unfairness that should not even exist in 2015. And if we must have the system, then surely 4 bonus buildings is enough God Damn it. See here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/255710/discussions/0/610575007214081463/ -
This is Hjoi, a city between Norway and Sweden. It is an old fishing town. It is twinned with London in the UK.

The buidlings on the promenade/strand walkway are not default European buildings. I got them from the workshop here https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198038883961/myworkshopfiles/?appid=255710 it took ages to get them all the same but I think it was worth it Yep. The bridge was donated to Sweden by London after London fell in a war. Ughh... I do not care if it is not Swedish, it was the only old looking bridge I could find in the workshop haha. Wish a modder could make hanging street lamps like these... Would make the cities look even more European. Btw I am playing the game at 4k resolution. So the buildings might not look as clear at 1080p

Thought I'd build a pretty European town on a river with the ruins of an old castle in the middle. Here is the first stage of the town close up. Birds eye shots will come soon!

NO Botanical Garden is UNACCEPTABLE and the game is UNPLAYABLE

Your gameplay is hardly limited: Can you build cities? Yes. Can you manage a city? Yes. Can you build and manage a successful city? Yes, assuming you don't screw up. Can you use everything else, namely the hundreds of bundled assets and hundreds more of Workshop assets that don't rely on the flowers? Yes. Conclusion: The gameplay is intact. You can't play the game because you're stopping yourself, not because the game is broken, pre-order content is OP, or missing crucial game functionality. You even said it yourself, just two small assets... not a big deal. My gameplay is limited because I only play the game to build parks and recreational areas. Sure I can build a city, but it's not the city I'd like to build. Yes I did say that these are two small assets but I did not say they aren't a big deal. I don't know where you got that from. People play the game for different reasons, and I play it to build parks around a CBD. Why should I not have these assets? You think that it is right of paradox to not give them to me when I paid exactly the same amount of money to play the game as everyone else did. Why should the fact that I did not buy the game at a certain time restrict the content available to me. What an atrocious model of bussines this is! Imagine if someone could not afford the game at its pre-order time, but could shortly afterwards. Why should this person be punished for being poor in a game? It is just a game, but paradox once again, like most developers nowadays like to strip away content and remove the fun factor for sake of business and making money. If they were a decent company, they would put these two assets into the base game for us all to enjoy. Doing so will not affect their profits, and besides, they have already made enough money out of this game already. It is their greed that will stop people like me from playing the game... -
I can't play the game with sound because of these annoying seagulls. They are all over my city when I zoom in I don't even hear the seagul noise because there are so many that the noise is just one big awful screech. Modders already killed the chirper, just waiting now for them to kill the gulls. Am sure no one else wants to hear the deafening sound.

The European buildings are a disappointment
Shazlow posted a topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I am very sorry for saying this, but the European buildings don't look European at all. Only some of them do, and even they look Northern European - Swedish and Finnish. The rest just look like a horrible mix of different styles that looks quite bad. Where are the German,. French and British buildings? I also don't like all of the flags flying outside the buildings. It looks so fake. The only thing truly European in my city are the mods. I'm sure the devs worked hard here, but I feel like they should have stuck to different European styles of buildings as in SC13. There are just too many different styles of building mashed together in my city. It just looks so soviet and Russian too. It looks fake and annoying... -
Cities: Skylines - Community Modding Requests

OMG! Please can someone make a mod for the European street lights. They would look awesome with the EUropean buildings. They are found in Scandinavia and Central Europe - Germany, Switzerland (They are not in the UK or France AFAIK). In game, they would behave as power pylons - but really they just be aesthetic... -
I'm playing in the European biome but they are not spawning. At what level / density do they spawn?
-
I have lots of mods under the parks menu. None of them have an icon - just a grey icon - no image telling me what it is. The menu is way too small. How can I expand the menu and see more stuff without having to scroll along all the time?

Hey guys. This is my first city journal for cities Skylines (In fact, this is my second one ever). Introducing... Aåsnai Aåsnai, an old Danish town on the border between Germany and Denmark, was forgotten by the outside world until its discovery 5 years ago. This town is unlike any other because it was once the home for the German royal family. Long ago, this little town was the most important place of both countries, as it was from here that a long line of nobility ruled the land with great power, strength and wisdom. While traces of their ruling can be found in the many old buildings of the old town, the town has recently established links with the outside world and is growing rapidly. Agriculture, once the only economy, is quickly being replaced with high tech industry and commerce. A new multistory car park, thought of by many as blighting the pretty landscape, has been built by the mayor who is more interested in the wealth that tourism to the old town can bring. Some people fear that the old town will be replaced with modern buildings, but the mayor has turned all of these royal houses into museums for the tourists.

Is there any way to change a building level? Maybe in the assets editor. I have a building I'd like to spawn at level 5 (max wealth) instead of at level 2 - It de-spawns due to high land value you see.

Hello. Can a modder please make Georgian English houses please? As they are very symmetrical and proportionate, they should be very easy to make (Just a copy and paste job I guess).

Sorry I didn't see that thread.

is it possible for the game to have different types of weather like snow? is this too hard to mod, or maybe too hard for dlc even? it would sure be cool if my city could take on a lot of snow, disrupt transport and make the city harder to manage. different seasons would be nice too... what do you think?
-
awww ok. maybe one day it will happen. what i don't understand is this... how did you manage to make a game better than sc13? your company is not as big as maxis-ea and you said you only had 12 guys on your team to make this game. why did maxis make such a bad game when they had more money and resource than you is there a lot of dlc to come for this awesome game? i really hope your sales are high so that this game is just the first of many in a new series, better than simcity. i don't think EA/maxis will put out another city builder again. looks like that job is yours now!
-
Really, a great game guys. It's hell of a lot better than SC13. But... I wonder if there will be any DLC for this game (as it's a great success so far). If so, I'd love to see some european city being put into the game. All the city simulators out there are based on American (USA) city designs - everything is so straight and square! I'm a European and I'd prefer to create cities I'm more accustomed to. Maybe there's some European mods out there? Great!

What tools do I need to mod Sc13?
Shazlow posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
I'm a $%&^! modder. I don't know how to do it. I don't want to mod if I have to pay for software but if I could do it with free software then I'd like to mod the game. Any advice? -
A Random Parks Mod for small parks besides buildings - OPPIE PLEASE
Shazlow posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
For oppie and the others modders, as you see in these pictures, there are small parks in the game that we cannot use. They randomly fill the small gaps between buildings and are a lot smaller than the walkways we can use... As you can see they lie outside of the zoned building. Can you make a mod that puts these parks and there are others, on the park menu so we can use them? Is is impossible to do? -
Will EA release another iterate of SC13 anytime soon?
Shazlow posted a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The forums are dead. I remember taking part in the monthly challenge but MaxisGeorge (the guy who features the winner) didn't even show up in the thread until weeks after the deadline. Sadly, I think the devs have given up on SC13 but at least the modders added some degree of versatility into the game and so I thank all of you guys for bringing the game back to life. I just hope that you guys don't follow the Maxis quitters and give up because there's still some potential for some awesome mods in the future. So now that EA have deserted the game, do you think they're working on, or have plans for another city builder game, which builds on the strengths of SC like the agent simulation, graphics but without the months of bugs and small city tiles? I don't like the glass box engine in SC and I wish that they come up with a SC4 version, in which greater diversity of gameplay was possible like terraforming and laying pipes for water. It's small details like this which allow our creativity to flourish. I hope SC13 wasn't the end of the EA/Maxis city building genre because there aren't any viable city builders out there that come close to what SC4 was or what SC13 could have been. -
'Hjoi' is a North Eastern Canadian City located on Baffin Island. Its northerly latitude means that the city experiences arctic winters but reasonably mild summers. 'Hjoi' is a name of unknown origin, though it is widely believed to be a strain of 'Old Norse' spoken by Vikings of the 3rd century A.D. Nothing is known of these Vikings however, it is thought that they embarked on a voyage of discovery and so the predictable Atlantic winds carried them westward towards Baffin island, though the environmental extremes proved too costly on their resources and so, no official trading outpost was created. All that remains of their voyage are two bones of two Viking men in a sacred burial mound beneath the church and buried with them two engraved wooden Amulets depicting what is believed by some to be their Viking Gods, though the identity of whom remains unknown. The church, it is believed, also dates back to the 3rd century and its spires were created in the style of Viking architecture as a homage to them. In modern times, 'Hjoi' is experiencing rapid growth as the peoples from Scandinavia seek to reclaim 'Hjoi' from Canada and return it to their nearest government of authority: Iceland. Although the people of 'Hjoi' are Canadian natives, a recent genetic censuses estimates that at least 25% are of Scandinavian heritage. The average Canadian has only around 5% Scandinavian heritage and so, the people of 'Hjoi' are considered by some, 'immigrants' in Canada. Scandinavian Airlines offers its cheapest fairs exclusively for 'Hjoi's' people so flight times from 'Hjoi' to Oslo have been cut to 1 hour when flying directly over the North Pole. This makes Scandinavia a popular location for many given that the nearest Canadian city, Halifax, is a 2 hour flight away. Now the rate of development of the Downtown area has increased by 200% in the last year alone. This is largely due to immigration from Scandinavia but also the cities excellent health and social system. There are two city schools, one elementary school and one High school, both of which are equipped with baseball fields, tennis courts and volleyball courts and were awarded 5/5 stars in the recent inspection. The clinic, though small, offers free health insurance and a second ambulance has been ordered to relief the cities growing pains! Ambulance response times are estimated to be the lowest in all of Canada. 5 new high end stores have recently landed in the city as well as a 'Mc Donalds'. By next year, however, the downtown area will be 200% bigger as more companies pour their investments into the city and this will mean the jobs created will ensure 0 unemployment rates across the city. The biggest question in the news at this time is, will the Canadian Flag be replaced with the flag of Iceland, Norway, Sweden or Denmark. Will Canada give up 'Hjoi' to Scandinavia!? How different will 'Hjoi' look with all of this city 'change' that's happening?
