Nice I'd like you to discuss more about the GEMs with them...specifically whether it requires having to go to the online version and interact with other players. See, I'd be more than willing to buy their GEMs if I could use them to have interaction between different cities that I create and not have to deal with other players online.

I like the graphics and being able to put things down just where I want them but there aren't enough transportation or terraforming options, the maps are way too small and it runs like a tortoise once you pass a certain size. I've already taken it off my hard drive...unlike SimCity4 which has been on each computer I've had since it was released.

Beginer: i cant put anything in "plugins"
cirugo replied to Yellowpostitnote's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Sometimes the map you download may have more than one layer or is not a greyscale. I'm not sure how familiar you are with working with any sort of graphics program but the map file MUST be a greyscale and not have more than one layer in it or it will not import. Also for the custom content, it helps to put everything into a separate folder that you name in the Plugins folder so that you can easily find it and take it out if you need to. -
Okay, I am the first person to say how disappointed in the direction they took this game but how can you say you bought this game expecting all of the things you did when all of the pre-publicity and talk on different sites made it clearly known that none of this was going to happen in this game?

No curved streets. No multilevelled streets...only two kinds of streets..period. No zones...everything is plopped from a menu of building choices. City maps are not very large. I don't think it would be possible to achieve a city of more than 100,000 population. The scale might be off a little but I find it to be graphically quite nice although I don't like the architecture of a lot of the buildings...but that's just a personal opinion. Yes it's fully 3-D...no I wouldn't buy it just for that. Beware of the performance. I have played it a total of about 8 hours and it's crashed only once on me and I haven't noticed much slowdown but I've only gotten a city of about 10,000 population. A lot of people seem to be having technical problems with it however.

If Battlefield 1942 had been Sim City

Well, any more comments about it can't be dismissed as "the game is still being developed" now.

We can't. They've stripped out all the tools that would've enabled us to do so. The "energies" would've have been an excellent ADDITION to what we've all become accustomed to and truly made the possibilities endless like they hype. What they've actually done is limit us more than we've ever been.

From what I've seen so far, this game as definitely captured my interest. I will definitely be reserving judgement until I've seen a more complete picture...I was really very disappointed with City Life but it appears that you're taking the criticisms of that game to heart so I am definitely encouraged.

No, because I won't be playing this game.

They've been getting our feedback for months now. It hasn't made any difference.

A hearty agreement to Jedi's post.

Absolutely agree with everything North Country Dude just said

Will reserve judgement since I absolutely hated City Life and will need to see how they have implemented the feedback they got from it but judging from they have to be learning about the reaction to Sim City Societies and what they are saying I will definitely be following this one with interest.

It's not just this site. Check out the comments on ANY site that is allowing comments on this. Google SimCity Societies and check it out. The commentary is pretty overwhelmingly negative. Does that still speak to a MAJORITY? Perhaps not...but people who are interested enough to actually be following it and commenting on it don't seem to like it. That does not bode well at all.

Here's objective for you: everything we have seen and heard so far ( and there's been far more than just one screenshot now) indicates that the gameplay we have all enjoyed in SimCity is gone...replaced by something that might be a nice ADDITION to what we like about SimCity. So what are we supposed to do? Wait patiently until the game comes out and, as everything seems to indicate so far, discover that it sucks and tanks, thus killing SimCity? Or voice our objections in the hopes that they can still take it in the direction that we have come to enjoy, albeit somewhat simplified with some interesting addtions? If no one complains, nothing gets changed.

Originally posted by: beebs This is definitely an interesting concept that they're doing for this game. And despite (seemingly) popular opinion, it could work very well in a SimCity game. Having your city's soul and overall feel shaped by the way build it (the way I understand it... and if I'm wrong, it's the way I think it should be ) is a great next step for the game to explore. They just need to approach it correctly.quote> I don't disagree with you. However, they would be great IN ADDITION to the variety of transportation networks, region play, terraforming options, etc. that we all enjoy. Replacing all of that with this is quite underwhelming, to say the least.
