  1. NAM General Support

    Thanks!
  2. NAM General Support

On the subject where do the little tiny end of street cul-de-sac's come from? Not the ones you make like a roundabout but the little tiny ones I keep seeing around in everyone's screen shots?
  3. dont let those numbers fool you the cities are bigger than what u think... I did a little math and i figured out why it seems odds to me. The Game scale is totally out of whack in a very extreme way. For example the Largest city size possible is supposed to represent a 4 kilo square. Which would make each game tile about 16 meters (or about 52 feet) square. Not only I can fit a Nice size single family home in one of those tiles, but also a 3 story Townhouse, or a Multistory commercial Office Building... 1x2 lets me fit multistory Apartment complexes...The biggest shopping mall in the game can fit in less then 100 square yards, parking lot included. I could go on and on but you get my point I think. It would seem that "Sims" are very very small people. So given that, I guess the crazy elaborate highway interchanges in NAM/RHW are in fact very useful.
  4. So then I should probably just re-install nam (for like the 3rd time) and remove the symphony stuff? Thanks for your help! I do realize I could make some elaborate highway systems with all the new stuff, but TBH the fact that the Biggest city size possible is 4km square it seems silly to me to have this huge highway system to do what something simple should be able to achieve. Edited: Thank you that did the trick and is exactly what I was looking for.
  5. Since I have NAM31 installed apparently it creates issues using what looks like generic Maxis stuff(MHW?). So I'm trying to place a generic, elevated highway. Not a problem. until I try and find on/off ramps that work with it. There are none for what looks like the Default maxis stuff. So I decided to try some of the RHW ones that come with NAM. I just can't figure out WTF I'm supposed to do to make this stuff happen. I'm now trying to place a 6 lane elevated highway with a simple on/off ramp. I cannot find an exit piece at all anywhere in the mod. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I get so frustrated at how non intuitive NAM is. It's a great Mod, I just hate that I end up having to spend HOURS figuring out how to do the simplest things with it. Any suggestions?
  6. I've noticed one of my cities doing the same thing lately too. I also have NAM installed. I thought it was supposed to prevent "long commute times" but they are everywhere lately and my my city is starting to crumble in black because of it. (around 700k POP is when it all started happening for me)
  7. 'Disabling' region mechanics?

I would think that just creating a 4 x 4 pixel (255) blue config.bmp and dropping it into a newly created region folder with blank land, should be pretty easy. Unless for some reason the game rejects it. You'll probably get non stop spam about how making neighbor connections are helpful though.
  8. Once you get familiar with the basic functions of the extra transport stuff the default install of NAM provides and all it's quirky behaviors(there is a learning curve), the go ahead and relaunch the installer, from there you can do a custom installation, and start adding a whole host of other fun toys that they packed into the mod. I too wanted to play strait vanilla at first to get a handle on the game, but was forced into NAM's basic functions. Lately I've been playing around with it's more advanced features and it's really opened up a whole new slew of gaming and planning options which I quite enjoy. It's still my only mod currently. I've actually not needed the high tech fix for some reason. Whatever it is I'm doing on my own seems to be working OK in that regard. Have fun with NAM! I just hope they get 31.1 out the door soon because I'm currently using 31, so far without any major glitches, but am worried of running into so big problems down the road.
  9. If you can get someone to pay for it more power to you. However the spirit of a Modding community is typically that of a Hobbyist. Once you start charging for services it kind of changes everything goes against the spirit of the whole thing. I voted no, but if you do decide to charge I wish you the best of luck anyway.
  10. GLR Avenue Neighborhood Connection

Even if the NC doesn't work, I'm pretty stoked about being able to split avenues like that and yet keep the Median garnish with a space in between. I've been wanted to do Elevated rail(raised not tram) in between avenue for awhile, and having to fake it with 1 way streets wasn't quite the same.
  11. GLR Avenue Neighborhood Connection

    That's a sweet work around!
  12. I just opted out of the trams and went with the 6 lane 2 tile wide Median less avenue and lots of well placed buss stops. I liked the Idea behind the Tram, but in the end there was just too many problems to enjoy it.
  13. I find the Roads method seems to work better then God mode /leveling tools.
  14. Creating regions

I have a region with 2X2 (4) Large Tiles, which is pretty fun. I'm not sure you can make a region with less cities then that, but I could be mistaken. I posted this elsewhere but here it is again. I used this tutorial to get started with custom regions and it's super easy and quick once you understand it. No need for extra downloads or signing up for anything. Hope this helps: http://www.sc4ever.com/knowledge/showarticle.cfm?id=1103
  15. I noticed that too, so I ended up dumping my trams.
