Megatower Strategy and Problems Discussion
m72 replied to Griffon's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Disregard the power issue. It turns out that even having a Fusion Planet running at full steam is not enough when the plant is across the map from your megatowers. The power-agents die by the time they find the top levels of the megatower... I know this is a question beat down in these forums, but seriously - why is power setup just like traffic in this game? Very weird. Solution, use a power crown or plop a powerplant right next to your towers if your existing (super expensive) powerplant is across the map... in a place where your sims won't get upset about its existence. -

Has anyone else had the issue where a megatower isn't getting enough power despite having excess power generated by a plopped power plant? I have a Fusion Plant running two reactors (500MW excess) which apparently isn't enough to power a city of 90k with 2 full towers (1 x elite & 1 x standard ). I needed to add a Solar Crown to the standard megatower to meet power needs. -
Can't connect road to train station or boat service?
m72 replied to m72's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
For sure. The problem I'm having is that the tile is being set too deep in the terrain, so when I try to run a road to it, I'm getting the "Terrain too steep" message. It's really weird. Feels like a bug, or just poor level design. -

Has anyone else run into the problem of "plopping" a boat service or train station on non-level terrain - then having the issue where you can't connect a road to it because the "terrain is too steep?" I'm trying to place boat service on the coast and can't find a space that works - which is awful considering I have to continually waste $31,000 each failure. Annoying. -

I think you're correct about positioning your water pumping station next to the sewage treatment plant. I moved the water station and have a pretty consistant 24 to 26 month supply of water. This is with a population ~ 100k. Mining seems to also take a lot of water.

If this actually works - it's a great find/idea.

Has anyone gotten this to work? That is, placing a water tower or pumping station next to a water source such as a river or lake? I had a pumping station with the max pumps (7?) right on a river, and I still ran out of water.
