Well I'm very much opposed to Creationism and Intelligent Design. I think it is an insult to my intelligence and to many educated intellects who choose to believe in it. I mean there are these Young Earth Creationists who think that the Earth is only a mere 6,000 years old! Yeah, maybe in SimCity 4 but not in reality! According to Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins, 6,000 years ago was the Agricultural Age. The fact is Evolution by Natural Selection has piles of evidence to support it. The annoying thing I find as a scientist is that many schools in America ban the teaching of it in biology class and those who are opposed to it conjure up ridulous "proofs" refuting it and supporting ID or creation. Thankfully, I live in an enlightened country where science has freedom to be taught properly. Well, that's just many opinion on the whole thing.

What does YOUR nearest motorway/highway interchange look like?
greenlemon44 replied to wallasey's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Hey. I would like to show you some of the interchanges here in Dublin in Ireland. Motorways are only relatively new to Ireland and aren't as sophisticated as those in USA, UK, Canada, etc. due to the lack of development (British colonisation, The Famine, political messup, Civil wars, etc.) Although, sometimes simplicity is better, eh? The motorways have only two lanes and are ground level. Don't forget we drive on the left also like UK, Japan, Australia and New Zealand! Under construction!!! The interchanges here are like large elevated roundabouts connecting the motorway in two on-ramps and two off-ramps. Rather witty might I add. This one is a favourite of mine. It's like the above but the roundabout is ground level. I think it's nice because it's green and very new. This is again a roundabout one but gives a full picture. It's very interesting though, as if you look at the photo you will see a pipe and then two bridges extending over the road. The first is a railway bridge but the second is in fact a canal! Yes, a canal going over the motorway! Cool, eh? http://www.n2finglasashbourne.ie/intersections/cherryhound.jpg align=baseline> And here's a very useful drawing to put this interchange type in perspective. align=baseline> This one is a dual roundabout intersection - a variation of the others. These ones aren't built yet but are quite interesting> http://www.arup.ie/images/news/M50_2.jpg align=baseline> http://www.arup.ie/images/news/M50Upgrade.jpg align=baseline> Hope you like my Irish motorway gallery! Comment if you wish. Sl
