  1. Well, I'm close, but unfortunately I'm still running into a small issue. This lot is "BSC_Park_5x5_CeruleanTower02" however, when I Save or Save As from the LotEditor, it just seems to create a new file in my plugins. When I plop the building in-game, it does not contain the edit I made, so I'm a little confused as to what I'm doing wrong. I located another folder in my BSC Parks folder in my plugins, called "BSC_Park_CeruleanTowers_models.dat"
  2. Mission success... I think. Time to load it in game. =p
  3. Oh, wait I found this thread: I think this will help me!
  4. Hiya Jack, this is working, but seems I can't seem to figure out how to elevate the prop I add. Here is a lot it's working on. You can see the prop says 47 next to it. I'm guessing this must be an elevation of some kind. When I add the lightbeam to other lots, it seems to want to add it to the ground. I need to figure out how to elevate it to like 47 or maybe even higher now.
  5. Holy Mount, The garden of virgin Mary

Looks really nice. You did a great job on the paths.
  6. Oh thanks! It's been good to be back! I can't believe I let the pandemic and politics get me so low that I stopped playing for as long as I did.
  7. @Scribosilyn Hello, thank you for the reply. Yes, I agree neither style of gameplay is better than the other. I've come to refer to them as the "Natural Growth" style and the "Natural Look" style, and here is sorta how I define the primary focus: Natural Growth Style - Player does not pre-plan that much... they kinda go with the flow, the enjoyment comes from the element of surprise as they play, and as cities, railroads, highways, and downtown sectors seem to just form on their own... because they haven't planned anything, and it's just the region coming to life on it's own. Often times you'll hear writers describe this about their stories... the story just took on a life of it's own. That's sorta how Natural Growth style is to me. There are maybe some things you plan in the moment, but that's like any city. Humanity tends to only do/change things when they need to. The focus is really about the unplanned growth, and the wonder of it. Natural Look Style - Player plans a LOT ahead of time. They tend to perhaps meticulously craft together some of the most realistic and mindblowing looking cities, or nature scenes, or really any scene. Some of the best CJ's tend to suggest that much planning has gone into them, and "hand-crafted" placements of MMP in order to have the scene be almost like a painting. Like I said, neither style is better than the other, and there is definitely some crossover. Cities that use Natural Growth style as their primary focus can still end up having a very Natural Look style feel... on the flip side, players that primarily strive for Natural Look style can still do so while considering what would happen with Natural Growth. It really just comes down to player preference, and what their focus and primary source of enjoyment is. For me personally, I've just always loved the wonder of starting a region and not knowing where my first freeway would form... where my first skyscraper would sprout up. It just fascinates me, and the region takes on a life of its own in my opinion.
  8. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

Thanks @ulisse! I'm in the process of some map tweaks after chatting with you and @Lucario Boricua on the discord. XD
  9. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

Yayyy! We can't wait to have you back Cori! We are here for you! I hope you take it easy due to your injury, and get some friends or professional movers if you need any help with moving. Please let me know if you need any donations to help with moving costs or anything.
  10. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

@CorinaMarie Ohh, thank you so much for reading the CJ, and voting! I'm the luckiest girl in the world right now! I better get working on the next entry for you. <3
  11. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

Thanks everyone! I hope I can make it entertaining and also end up looking great like many of the works of you ST veterans. I talked to CB about a few possible hidden secrets.
  12. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

Hey, thanks CB. I appreciate that. It's funny you say that, when I made it... I was thinking like "Hmm I wonder if I build this here now... will it become something that stays here as the town gets bigger and bigger? So it was a little experiment, and I was actually thinking of that same San Fran curvy street. It's interesting to think streets can become famous like that. It's why I'm naming some of my paths as well, I wonder if they will turn into big highways and/or freeways one day? Ohh, haha thanks, I might take you up on that. I'll let you know.
  13. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

FYI: If votes stay tied, I'll end up doing a random selection of the options with the highest votes.
  14. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

    Thanks @Cyclone Boom!
  15. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

@Cyclone Boom Hey sorry to call you here, but there is an image I keep trying to delete at the very bottom of my CJ. It shouldn't be there, but it seems to stay there even after I edit the post, remove it, then save. Any advice?
  16. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

Ooh, every single poll question is neck and neck.
  17. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

Ooh and the Moonshiners Pier I think was also included in with the batch of mods removed by the author.
  18. Generations of Early Expansion ~ Part 3

@TogaMasterJohn Hiya, and thank you for the compliment. Here are a few of the windmill lots I use. My favorite is the Deadwoods Aussie one, just a cool 1x1 which actually generates power. I think it does at least. There are another few windmills I use, but actually I believe I was lucky and downloaded those just a few days before the mod author removed their uploads from the STEX and started up a patreon for their mods. I'd need to dig to determine the name of that mod author.
  19. Hi all, I hope nobody minds the self-promo, but I've restarted my CJ with some of these natural growth philosophies in place. I'm really hoping this time I stick with regular updates!
  20. How to backup my work?

Oh wow, this seems amazing. Thanks!
  21. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

Hi @CorinaMarie! Thank you for the chat to us, it's really good to get to hear from you again. I'm really sorry you're enduring what you are. Moving can be such an overwhelming and stressful, and depressing situation... especially when we classify that move as a downgrade in our living situation. I'm so so sorry you have to endure a stressful move soon. I've been through some similar experiences, sometimes after traumatic breakups (those are the worst), and even recently due to covid I ended up losing my very own awesome apartment... the same apartment I lived in when I met all of you a few years ago here on Simtropolis. For awhile I was very down about needing to move back in with my folks... but now things are much much better. With some luck - admittedly - I landed a new job and can finally afford to soon get my own place again. I know in my heart that even though you have to go through this non-ideal move at this point in your life... I promise you with all my heart things will one day improve again, and you'll find yourself once again in a great living situation that is ideal for you. Please feel free to reach out if you ever want to talk more about these things. Really really glad to chat with you again Cori. Please keep being kind to yourself and taking things nice and easy. I'm glad you have some friends helping you out with the moving things. Have you considered opening a gofundme or anything, if that might help with any moving costs? I know that might be hard to want to do, but something to think about if it might help.
  22. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

Yayyy! Thank you for sharing your experience @TheMurderousCricket! I can relate to this a bit as well. I had a dead-end job for literally like 11+ years, and I never ever thought I was going to get out of that situation. It was one of the biggest sources of depression in my life for years. But then just this past April, I got a brand new big-girl job at a world renowned ad agency, Publicis Groupe. I can finally think about getting my own place and starting a new chapter of my life. So I whole-heartedly agree with what you said:
  23. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

I just want to extend the offer I made to Cori earlier as well, to anyone else part of this community. I am not a doctor, but I have struggled with some traumatic life experiences of myself many times unfortunately, and I too have had suicidal ideation. Pain and stress and feeling overwhelmed can induce many terrible emotions in us. Luckily I have always had a great support system IRL, and as I've gotten older I am much much much better at managing my emotions and my responses. I have truly come to know that no matter how bad it gets in life... it's just temporary, things always change. And by surrounding yourself with people whom genuinely care, things become better to manage. I now know that life is something to cherish, and it's worth living even if just to see what surprise awaits us and the human race around the corner. Ironically one of the things that helps me the most when I'm really low.... is matters of space research and space exploration, like the James Webb Space Telecope. One day I realized that even at my lowest of lows, my saddest of sads... I was curious to see what new discoveries awaited us in the cosmos. So I made a deal with myself that I would always press on, even at the very least just to see what discoveries were out there among the stars. Anyways... my point it... I can sometimes be very relatable in matters of emotional trauma in life, stress, anxiety, feelings of being overwhelmed, etc. I extend this out to anyone that is ever in a low spot and feels like they need someone to just talk to (sometimes even just venting about what is bugging you to others helps tremendously), I'm here for you as an understanding and non-judgmental ear. Was there mention of another thread on mental well-being starting up somewhere?
  24. How to backup my work?

I wanted to circle back on this topic. I have a region I want to make some terrain adjustments too, but I'm worried I might mess up and botch my whole region. I've already started building in this region, and the current region view is great... it just doesn't really have some features I might want. So I'm thinking I just need to save a backup of my region folder with all the actual city files saved within there. Then I can proceed to make my terrain adjustments. Then after I'm done with terrain adjustments I can keep as is.... or, if I'm feeling like I messed it all up, I can just load in my backed up file. Is that really the best way to go about it, or might I be overlooking something?
