While not really French, it was named so for use in my City Journal"Celeste", which can be found here:https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=61716 It is an Army Base with a size of 10 X 10, reduced from the original's12 X 12. It generates $1000 per month for your revenues. While notterribly realistic, It's alot better then the original. It does notneed to be unlocked. UPDATE 1.1: Ooops. Forgot to lower demolitioncost. And for some reason it has a dependency for one of Peg's kits. The industrial dock one. Don't ask. it'll probably still work withoutit. -
Make historical is not working
Stormscape replied to sarcosis's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
SWAT it has always worked for me in both versions of SimCity I own, both the original I bought here in Canada and the European Deluxe my friend bought me while he was visiting France. -
If you want to pony up the additional money that would be required to host images on the site, be my guest. Those of us who live in reality know of many free image sites. I can think of 5 without even checking Google.

I wouldn't recommend using any NAM simulator except for Z, that's your main problem.

Eliminating "no road" zots in residential, commerical, and landfill zones.
Stormscape replied to chris0101's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Keep in mind SimCity 4 has an entirely different playstyle than all the previous SimCities. You need road access. In the typical urban area in real life around 40-45% of landspace is just roads/streets/highways/various forms of asphalt. -
How do you get Power Plants to last longer?
Stormscape replied to bioduck42's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Here's a silly question: Is your power grid all connected? -
Now I seem to have run into a rather interesting problem; the rail system in my central city is TOO popular, and I need a way to take the strain off of it, as approximately 200k+ trips are made per day on it, in a region of just over 400,000 sims. Of course I'm dealing with rising commute times and I need some sort of way to get the Rich Sims to their jobs quicker. I was thinking I could put in Monorail, but do you guys have any suggestions on how to route monorail? I seem to remember something about certain wealth levels being prediposed to take Monorail but I don't know if that's fact or fiction in Simulator Z. I also have a fairly good running subway system, sparse enough not to bog down the Traffic Simulator but still exetensive enough to cover the downtown core. Would Monorail be my next step or would large scale urban renewal and avenues as far as the eye can see be the solution? The entire residential sector is a spaghetti mess of winding roads due to me making an honest attempt at realism for the older part of the city. Course that worked fine until the 60 story condos came. So I guess it boils down to Monorail project that'll displace a few thousand Sims Large scale Urban Renewal Project in residential sector that will displace 100,000+ sims. Which one would have a greater result?

How do you get Power Plants to last longer?
Stormscape replied to bioduck42's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Have you increased funding on the power plant? You shouldn't even need a 2nd power plant yet in a city of 40,000 unless it's all detached houses. -
From what I understand it's generally accepted large city square = 16 square kilometres

Money doesn't mean anything. I get stupid amounts of money monthly from my very profitable mass transit system. Mass Transit and Residential Taxes pretty much funds my entire city. Once you hit 1 million you can pretty much do anything to your city and not go broke, or sooner if you have a large surplus.

1025x1025 786x786 and other requests
Stormscape replied to Tysons4's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Tysons, it's actually really easy to render any custom region size. The only reason to use the terraformer is if it's not a jpeg. Just create a region folder before you even load SimCity in the Regions folder, put the custom config in there, then load SimCity 4. It'll have that region already at the custom size, and you just have to render it at that point. -
An old Italian man lived alone in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament: Dear Vincent, I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days. Love, Papa A few days later he received a letter from his son. Dear Pop, Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried. Love, Vinnie At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son. Dear Pop, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances. Love you Vinnie

Name something helpful about twitter that I can't find out easier by just visiting Google, Slashdot or BetaNews.

Well so far I went with Urban Renewal first, with no transit improvments besides an Avenue right down the centre of the Residential Sector. Population went up by 40k even though around 50% of the re-built sector is still Stage 5/Stage 6 buildings. Traffic Skyrocketed. Rail Usage surpassed 100k on some stations >.> I think my city is just too high density to not need Ultra, as 300k sims live in a single square kilometre. I'd make Hong Kong proud.

There's no point in using elevated rail as it takes up valuble real estate. The only ones I consider using are Subway, Heavy Rail and Monorail. I'm just not sure if Monorail would actually help this however. EDIT: In Simulator Z at least, Monorail speed is 250, the highest availible, which is why I was considering it. Passenger Rail is 200 at no congestion. Subway and El are 150 each, making El pointless eye candy imo.

Really lost after years of not playing - main downloads
Stormscape replied to Bizzaro's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I think another mandatory mod is the one with the very nicely done hospitals available on the STEX by LBT Makes the ratio of hospitals to Sims far more accurate, in addition to having far larger radii at the expense of large ambulance bills. https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=20035 this one. -
Mine's currently at only 660mb but growing. Lots of plugins will slow your load times but that's about it.

You'll have to tear down most of your subway lines, mainly any lines that duplicate each other. Otherwise Simulator Z will get too bogged down and you'll be spending most of your time watching the pathfinding engine compute commute routes. Water should be supplied to your industry ALWAYS, no matter what it is. Give them water and they'll start changing to high tech.

Are supersized cities supposed to run very slowly in the simulator?
Stormscape replied to Shlarin's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Not only that an oversized subway system will slow a city down right quick with Simulator Z as the pathfinding engine will be spending too much time calculating subway routes. -
Are supersized cities supposed to run very slowly in the simulator?
Stormscape replied to Shlarin's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Since you're using Simulator Z, I'll ask a few questions: How extensive is your subway system? How much monorail/elevated rail do you have? Could your bus system be described as large or excessive or extremely excessive? -
I'm kind of a loser compared to you guys. I work at a grocery store. Throwing boxes. T_T

What Music are you listening to right now?
Stormscape replied to GingerBlokey's topic in General Off-Topic
Fallen Angel by L'Ame Immortelle. Great band. -
However using the Boston Big Dig mod you can make a tunnel. Because these lots convert the road traffic to subway traffic you can then drag the subway tunnel across the water and through the two tiles of water and end up at the other city. Wether the sims will actually use the tunnel is another story.
