I'm slightly confused as to why the ability to join a multiplayer region is so difficult, when Maxis and EA have raved about how much better it is to have Simcity as a multiplater game. The Join Game screen in the Main Menu, lists regions on the server, but there is absolutely no way to filter them. Every Public region I click on is full, so why can't I filter these out so only regions with free cities are displayed? Why can't sort them by wealth, or population? It's very frustrating and I hope Maxis addresses it. I hope they bring back the SimCity World features back soon, too, again because this is something they've been going on about for the past year saying how fantastic it is, and right now I can't judge for myself. If you're going to turn a single-player game into a multi-player experience, you'd better do a damn good job, and Maxis has failed massively in this regard, I feel.

Exactly the same problem. I've uninstalled SimCity now, had enough of it.

Currently In Development (patchnote from the official forum)

This is so so strange... in over 200 hours I have just one rollback, I never lost a city. Why a lot of people have all these problem and others not? I've had countless rollbacks, very frustrating. -
Anyone else lost interest?
RyanMorgan95 replied to Lakenstaken's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'm pretty bored too, I have an city in a Public Region which makes about 10 million Simoleons an hour; nothing to spend it on, and all the other cities around me have Mayors that haven't played in their respective cities for over a week now. Could start a private region but there's nothing I really want to do any more. I guess £45 isn't bad for 48 hours of playtime and BF3, but I got SC4 for £10 and have played that at least ten times as much. -
I can't decide what game to get! Mass Effect 3 looks good, but I have Crysis 3 for that sort of genre. Dead Space 3 seems interesting, and I haven't got a first person shooter on my PC yet either, so maybe Battlefield 3 is the way to go? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Details on patch v1.6.1 released this morning:
RyanMorgan95 replied to mendi80's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
They need to fix garbage dumps! The info box says I have 12 collection trucks, and that the dump is "Collecting Garbage", but on the bottom-right, apparently no bins are being collected, so my city is ruined with 80,000 people! It is probably a very limited issue - I'm on Europe West 1. -

Lucy Bradshaw Answering Questions via Twitter
RyanMorgan95 replied to jacksunny's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Lucy is doing a surprisingly good job if I'm honest. Doesn't look like she's skipping over the tougher questions either. Good on Maxis for striving to sort out this fiasco! -

Metacritic user score 2.0 based on 1274 ratings
RyanMorgan95 replied to Tramwhet's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The Metascore for Simcity now stands at 82 - "Generally favourable" - after several "Mixed" reviews. This is two points below SimCity 4 (vanilla). User score is also down to 1.7 - "Overwhelming dislike" - presently. This is hilarious. -

The Reviews on Amazon.com are trickling in...
RyanMorgan95 replied to bipolarzebra's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
just as reliable as anywhere else i suppose. Like most retailers you can rate/review a product without owning/buying it. All you need to do is create an account to review any product you want. this is why Xbox 360 has higher reviews than PS3 and Wii. I'm almost certain you can only review a product after purchasing it Amazon; does Amazon allow you to review once you've pre-ordered but prior to release? That's pretty silly if so. -
The UK launch will be pretty strenuous on the servers, because it's a relatively large market. Plus, we're going to be using the Europe West 1 server, which everyone else in Western Europe (e.g. France, Germany, both large markets) will hop on tomorrow. I'd expect some issues, but not to the extent of the NA launch.

What's up with all the hate?
RyanMorgan95 replied to Cybersite_Builder's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Well, have a look at here. You have to buy the game from Amazon before you can review it, and a vast majority are 1/5. Not because people are whining about DRM, but because people can't play a game they've just spent $60 for. That it is a pretty good reason to be upset if I'm honest. When you're asked to review something, you review the entire experience, not just the game once you're playing. Just like when you buy a desk from IKEA. It could have been a pain in the backside to put together, taking you hours, but it looks great and functions just as you expected once built. Would you rate that highly? -
Is SimCity that bad?
RyanMorgan95 replied to monsterjamp's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Ouch, that is an awful user score, and the disparity between the critics' rating and the users' rating says a lot about the whole gaming media - not a single Mixed or Negative review. Or, people are just really, really mean, but probably not. You obviously have no idea what Metacritic is. I know that it is an aggregator that weights critic's reviews based on the "credibility" of that critic. What else is there to know? -

Ouch, that is an awful user score, and the disparity between the critics' rating and the users' rating says a lot about Metacritic - not a single Mixed or Negative review has been included, despite the fact there are several from credible gaming review sites that aren't so praising. Or, people are just really, really mean, but probably not. -
This is utter heartbreaking.
RyanMorgan95 replied to Trekker4747's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The fact is the online elements should work without any hiccups from Day 1, if EA wants to offer this a credible, reliable way to play games. They haven't done this and instead have proved why cloud computing isn't a good idea, just yet. -
Dont want to buy Digital deluxe?
RyanMorgan95 replied to RedRobin09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Nope...Just bought the limited edition Physical copy from there for £33. Thanks for the link! Was never going to pay the £45 origin is asking for! I am talking about GameFanShop not Zavvi here - I know about the Zavvi offer for a physical Limited Edition copy for £33 but that one takes 3-5 days for delivery. Whereas the GameFanShop one is an instant download Basic Edition for £33. The best deal for a release day physical copy of the Limited Edition is Amazon, where you add 1st class delivery so it is received on the day of release and that costs £37. Damn that's a good price, glad I cancelled my Origin pre-order; I'll probably by from here! -
So, who is calling in sick on release day?
RyanMorgan95 replied to Towel's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I hope you're joking! And if the Yanks on here do not understand "innit", do not I repeat do not bother to learn what it means! -
So, who is calling in sick on release day?
RyanMorgan95 replied to Towel's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Well, I've pre-ordered from Origin (Limited Edition) and I can't wait. I'm at Sixth Form on release day (the 7th for me) but I'll be dying to get home! I got a £15 off voucher for pre-ordering, so I'll use that to buy Crysis 3 tomorrow! -
stuck at loading screen
RyanMorgan95 replied to zanderb18's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
They're having problems with the servers, so don't worry it isn't you or your computer. As for the language options, it does ask you when you install it, so I suggest uninstalling the Beta and reinstalling it, in Origin. -
I hate how the text which scrolls in that white box is off-centred both vertically and horizontally, you know, where it says "Herding Llamas" or "Reticulating Splines".

A bit dull but I guess it's more realistic that way.

Yellow cabs are the most recognisable in the world, you see a yellow car or mini van you automatically think Taxi. They are just trying to tell you information through visuals, just what the glassbox aims to do. Yellow cabs only really exist in North America. And I must also agree with SirChick^; I also recognise taxis as black vehicles with a unique body shape. More broadly, I recognise any colour vehicle as a taxi if it's got 'Taxi' somewhere on it. Most players will however be North American (probably) so it makes sense that cabs are yellow, but taxis aren't yellow everywhere!

Discussion about City Tile Size
RyanMorgan95 replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That's great news! I doubt it will come as paid DLC because introducing larger city sizes is more to do with fixing a shortcoming in the game rather than adding bonus content. Surely EA can't be that evil!- 1,284 Replies
