Player not in control of intercity transport network
alex macnamara replied to Vampirovibrio's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
lulwut? to make things a little more clear...there is no single player mechanics. The game is developed around a multi player environment. -
SimCity: Multiplayer Discussion
alex macnamara replied to Vahr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
the single player should have its own game mode , not be bound by the multi-player mechanics...this is why everyone one on ST is angry right now. For a 59$ game this is OWED to us. This is clearly a case of cutting corners and developer lazyness. -
wahahaha, im going to build my next computer using a stacked coffee table instead of using a case L0o0L

Maxis Claiming to Listen to its "Core Base"
alex macnamara replied to nedal2001's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
and to think some of my wishes were "solid region play", "ability to have your streets numbered and names automatically" and freeways signs would update those numbers as you built your city.......lol what was I thinking -
Player not in control of intercity transport network
alex macnamara replied to Vampirovibrio's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
ill make this quick and short..........offline single player AND a multiplayer both having thier own seperate play styles. For 59$ thats OWED to the community. End of story. -
Blackout Simtropolis because of EA?
alex macnamara replied to colco2121's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
so we really need to be looking at the real culprit here, EA. If Maxis was smart enough they would have dropped EA as a publisher years ago. Well they can suffer the consequences BOTH of them when the game flops. Ill be modding cities XL 2012 to death -
Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
alex macnamara replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
good point ! I want to think and plan about pollution problems and jobs and traffic. Not the game telling me how to do it and when to do it. They are trying to make the game play more like "you have to build this , this , and this and that order" so this rules out us building the city of our dreams, now we must build the city of Maxis' dreams I disagree with this section. Stuff just doesn't phase out. Learn and read up on "suburban spawl" . Downtowns for example dont get phased out , they get preserved as "old downtown district" and the modern skyscrapers just get built in the next district. Housing near CBD stay housing. Dirty industry stays where it always was. Sometimes they happened to be in a suburb. Does that mean they keep rebuilding dirty industry farther out everything the metro grows another 50,000? I don't think so. Realistically that is an expensive way to go about. The main core of the city is never specialized but some of the outlying suburbs can be. -
Blackout Simtropolis because of EA?
alex macnamara replied to colco2121's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
to just not buy it is not good enough, if we let these developers screw over a franchise, it better be because they wont listen to us, not just because we dont buy it. What if suckers purchase the game and its "successful in sales" but a total POS? Who learns their lesson here? No one learns. The CORE BASE loses because they ignored the majority of the fans. WE ARE THE CORE BASE....we want a single player game mode. If we have to remind them how to make a simcity game then thats a pretty bad sign. Its like a gas station that is being built, but they decide against the core base and sell rice for our cars rather than gas. This is where the industry is heading! The point is not to let a developer run a franchise into the ground. Speak up! Email , petition , interview a Maxis rep, or do whatever it takes. But on topic a black out isnt going to do crap because Maxis doesnt count on the info here to thier needs. -
Simcity 5 and Cities Xl, Who will win?
alex macnamara replied to jebus22's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Cities XL WILL be better than sc2013 as it stands today.....I just need to get the community over at XLnation to mod stuff other that skyscrapers. And someone with computer skills to make the game utilize 4 cores. If that can be done Cities XL will be with us for a VERY long time! Mind you the XL community is full of foriegn people so the mods are bias. But that could change if I can get everyone on this site to migrate over and start modding for XL My screen handle over there is lextacy_2008 ... you can see me $%&^! about the mods lol -
Simcity 5 and Cities Xl, Who will win?
alex macnamara replied to jebus22's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The nail in coffin for me would be confirmed by Maxis themselves if regions are "faked" , solo play is nerfed ,and pulling the plug on modding HAHAHAH! So true Definitely. When I recently heard (hasn't been confirmed, but I have a feeling it will be) that we won't even be able to have seamless "region-cities," only 2 x 2 km mini-cities connected to others over large stretches of literal no-man's land, the nail hit the coffin for me and I'm sure many other potential customers. Ive seen that project tons, its always in my face on the forums every day. Sad thing is it seems its never going to get done. -
Simcity 5 and Cities Xl, Who will win?
alex macnamara replied to jebus22's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I did the same, but im a first time XL 2012 user. And boy does the game got POTENTIAL. Just someone needs to hack it give it all 4 cores, and for god sakes make more mods than skyscrapers. The XL mod community is so retarded. They think skyscrapers is all they need. Im inviting you all here to migrate to XL 2012 and we all can start modding real american works for the game. As we find out more into the Simcity 2013, ill post a mega thread that will be called "All Simtropolis modders, please consider being a Cities XL player". The game so far is pretty decent other than a memory leak. But hey SC4 had super random crashes every 30 minutes. Just a heads up on what to be expecting near SC2013 faillaunch -

Speculation & Discussion
alex macnamara replied to waybig's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
guys... Is there an element of user-created content and sharing in city customization? We’re not committing to any of that at this time, but we know that is part of Maxis. In SimCity 4, a lot of those tools were released pretty much a year after launch. So, definitely on our minds, but I can’t promise that we’re delivering on any of that right now. source http://www.gameinfor...spx?PageIndex=2 -
Discussion about City Tile Size
alex macnamara replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You cant build your own International airport?! WTH! So I come back to my thread only to discover more possible confirmation of regional play to be a joke. Clearly now Maxis only has multiplayer in mind and gave single player the bench warming position. I could live with 2km x 2km if the regions could be stitched together. But I guess we are gonna receive a Feb 2013 release of.............. Sim City: Large Neighborhoods Connected Using Highways That Won't Sprawl Development- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
alex macnamara replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Looking at the new gameplay trailer it shows that 2 different (and distant) cities are being displayed in "pan view". Just look at how far the airport is from the skyscrapers! Its about a good 3 to 4 miles away! This could confirm smooth city transition gameplay- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
alex macnamara replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
IF they have U-Drive it in this version Lets hope if we are ultimately stuck on 2km, Id like to see these few things -Progressive saving (game saves constantly in the background and i mean ANY TIME the game is idle) -Progressive tile loading with ability to see neighbor tile so we can see what the heck we are building a road to I had a huge problem in SC4 lining up the freeways and pipes between tiles! Grrrrr- 1,284 Replies

Discussion about City Tile Size
alex macnamara replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I agree with this as what may be happening here. Ill further explain....this new Glassbox engine (i read the slideshows) seems like the CPU hog of the century. They are working the game AROUND the engine. Lets check some possible scenarios. 1. The worst case scenario is that this game is nothing more than a resource simulator rather than a urban planner/city builder simulation that we all have loved in the past. Might as well have this game be DOS command line only game and ditch the GUI. 2. Best case scenario is alot of what you guys mentioned in my thread.. Progressive region loading which allows you too see your nieghboring cities on the edges so you can match the roads up.Possible scaling to bump the city sizes up to way larger than 2km (trust me this can be done if they scale back the Glassbox)And its hardware possible still to not change the glassbox at all and bump our tile sizes up using some new form of efficiency method, of course this would be discoved not too far into the dev cycle, 30% could be too early to tell. Now someone here mentioned the airports, DAMN Also the cartoony look doesnt bother me. Why? Because I have faith in you modders that can crank out high rez goodness!- 1,284 Replies

Is it feasable to start modeling base 3D for SC5 ?

I dont know much about the glassbox tools or even the BAT, but isnt it possible 3D models made in C4D or 3Ds max would be used in the new game? -
Discussion about City Tile Size
alex macnamara replied to alex macnamara's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I can live with a large tile in a new simcity game because you can fit a whole downtown and the spur loops of freeways around it. Its the medium size that prevents any meaningfull traffic flow (worse when you have a downtown river going through). Also consider this size is the same as the old SNES Simcity. So far it isnt looking good unless the devs are too early in development and may squeeze larger sizes out later in time. Time will tell i guess.- 1,284 Replies
