Getting rid of Brown Boxes
Grand Fromage replied to Simtropolis Help Squad's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I have a related issue I've never been able to track down. Some of my low density houses have Paris buildings pop up in the yard, presumably replacing a prop that's supposed to be there. For example: I've tried removing the Paris buildings, nothing. I've tried to search for the names of the lots these show up in, and they don't appear either in my plugin folder or on the exchange. I cannot track this down. Has anyone had this and what do I have to remove to get rid of it? -
No demand in new cities

The only mod I have is NAM, all my other plugins are just buildings. THIS CAN HAPPEN TO YOU! -
No demand in new cities

Well, I seem to have solved it though I'll be damned if I know exactly how. I deleted one of the problem cities, rebuilt the terrain from scratch, refounded, and it grew a little but still wasn't working right. I founded a new city next to it, which itself was next to an existing city, and the demand there was fine. Made a neighbor connection, went back to the original, and in a couple months demand shot up. It seems like founding a city in the middle of nowhere, with no bordering cities, might have been the issue. Once it shared borders with the developed part of the region it seems to have recovered. Bizarre. -
No demand in new cities

I do zone and neighbor connections don't make a difference. Demand stays at the base near-zero and nothing develops no matter how long I let it run. I thought I'd seen everything in seven years of playing this game but this one has me baffled. -
As the topic says, I'm having a bizarre bug. I created a city a while ago and didn't do anything but name it, went back to get it going, and there was no demand at all. Nothing would grow. I wiped it and re-founded, same thing. Now I tried a city on the adjacent square, which hadn't been named yet, and there's no demand! I've also created another city in a different part of the region and it functioned normally. What is going on? I've never seen this happen before.

I don't use cheats, so I'm confused what this is. I do tend to build a small, profitable city first and run it for a while to build funds for expansion, which I did here. I got this in year 50 with about 600K in the treasury. So, uh. Why is it accusing me of cheating? Is this going to affect my game? And what did I install that had this thing riding along with it?
