  1. Anduin Valley Revisited

Congrats John! And a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  2. Anduin Valley Revisited

Hi John. Nice little tutorial on farm fields and road access. I like the finished result with the combination of trails and fences. Interesting to see the combination of SAM gravel shoulders and dirt trails in pic 19. Great overall shot in pic 23, shows just how close you are to being done. Now I'm off to go look at Old Tom Road in high rez. Thanks John for another update and take care. Phil *edit: Hey, great hi rez shot. Something caught ny eye. Where did the guard rail along Old Tom Rail come from?
  3. Anduin Valley Revisited

It's kind of like the end of summer, and that melancholy feeling comes over you. Feels that way about the approaching end of Anduin Valley. And yet each update is its own little gem. I really like that final shot in the last update. Thanks John, I will continue to enjoy it as long as it lasts. Take care Phil
  4. Anduin Valley Revisited

Heya John. Hope your having a good summer and managing to stay cool. Broiling here in Manitoba! Take Care Phil
  5. Anduin Valley Revisited

Lovely update John. I really like the work with the streams. Your technique for hiding the edges and glitches is very useful. The streams really flesh the area out. I notice you use the rail mod (peg's I presume) that put gravel under the tracks. It seems you get mixed results with the textures showing up, depending on zoom levels and direction of tracks. I have been using pegs mod, but am not sure I'm gonna keep it in because of the mixed results. 150 pages of pure excellence! How many more do you have left in you? Plenty, I'm hoping. Take care Phil
  6. Anduin Valley Revisited

Fabulous region shot John. Very neat seeing the comparism too! Last couple of updates were very good (as always). Notice you are working in real time now (is there really such a thing?) Just looked at the animated gif Rayden posted. WOW!. I hadn't seen that before, but that is really cool. Enjoy and take care. Phil
  7. Anduin Valley Revisited

Very Nice update John. I really like the detailing around those DU ponds. As always, you make very effective use of bike paths too! Even when I don't comment, I never miss an update. Thanks for all your hard work with Anduin. Take care Phil
  8. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

Lovely closeups on the farms Bernhardt! And I agree, the Maxis farm seems to fit, in that shot. Phil
  9. Anduin Valley Revisited

Really enjoyed the update as always John! The technical shots of the railway bridge, tunnel, trails etc are great stuff. I really liked shot 18 as well. The little details like the diagonal fences and the billboard make such a difference. That's one of the best things about visiting Anduin Valley. There are always ideas that can be taken away and used in our own cj's and md's. Thanks John, take care. Phil
  10. RHW- Show us your pics!

Hi daniel01. I use one of cycledogg's terrain mods. Included in that mod is a "snowcapped" file that I modified in reader. In that file I lowered the sea level. Then a created some highways (and a town too). I saved the game. Then changed the sea level back to it's original level in the snowcapped file. The re-opened the game, and viola. The town and highway are under water.
  11. Anduin Valley Revisited

Hi John. Nice work on David's Inn. I like the effect the paved parking makes. It looks like you are getting a little more into creating your own custom lots! The results are definetly worth the effort. Take care. Phil
  12. Actually, I am using the new version of the NAM, and the two lane RHW. It seems to be working fine as far as I can tell.
  13. Nice work mjig_dudy! I would be very interested in an update. I am using the current version in my Mayor's Diary - Terraforming Teton. It works great for what I need, but the changes look even better. Thanks for the further work.
  14. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

I agree, the rural close-up are very pretty. I love the rolling farmland. It's very well done.
  15. RHW- Show us your pics!

    A little flooding issue!
  16. Anduin Valley Revisited

It's no secret that I love your tutorials. This one didn't leave me disappointed. You are the best at bridges, the hands down champ. Your eye for details, like a natural slope under the bridge ends, is what sets you apart. I have greatly benefited (sp) from your bridge work in the past and this one is quite helpful too! Thanks for the update. Anduin Valley is the best reason to visit Simtropolis!
  17. AK's STEX Tribute City

Wonderful region shot AK. That is one huge region, and the mountains are great!
  18. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

Very nice update Berhard. I really like the screenshot 15.177 A great overview of the city. The snow shots are super too. I'm looking forward to see some more of your rural work. Thanks for the update!
  19. Anduin Valley Revisited

Hi John, happy new year to you and yours! Thanks for the mention about the new NAM. I haven't tried it yet so sorry no feedback. With your mention of it though, I'll proceeed with caution. I have mostly been terraforming a region lately, with no plugins installed but cycledoggs terrain and tree mods. The game runs super fast, but when I get back into building cities that will have to change of course. Lovely update, right up my alley; lots of farms, terraforming and detailing. It seems to me like you incorporate more irrigation systems than you used to? It seems to be a neccesary "early" step in the development of your rural areas. I notice you "trap" farm zones inside of fence lots quite a bit. Your dirt trails must be transit enabled to avoid the "no Transit zots"? It seems like that is the only way you could be avoiding them. It works very well and is key (I think) in the detailing of rural areas that you excell at (the best IMO). Thanks for update, looking forward to some industrial work. Phil
  20. Rate one image.

Cjah, nice slum, neat drainage ditch. 9/10
  21. Anduin Valley Revisited

Wow, a fabulous update! What a ton of great detailing. I love it. The close in shots showing terraforming tips are very usefull. You can't have too much of that (at least it's hard to imagine). I really liked the culvert bit. And the use of roads, dirt trails and trees intregrated with the farms is un-surpassed (sp) You are the best at this; Anduin Valley remains the "how to do rural right" showcase. Best to you and yours this Christmas and New Years. Phil
  22. A belated congrats on the trixies guys. Your maps are superb. I have downloaded and installed several, and they are of the highest quality. Thanks for sharing them with the community!!
  23. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

Congrads Bernhard! A well deserved Trixie for sure. Urland has always been one of the top rural cj's, and I have learned tons regularily visiting here. Thanks for continuing to share Urland with us. Phil
  24. Anduin Valley Revisited

Hi John. Congrats from me too! A very deserved Trixie indeed. Phil
  25. Three Rivers Region

Super work! The detail is unbelievable, and considering it's HAND terraformed, well words really don't do you justice. One area of terraforming I struggle with is rivers. You appear to have adjusted your elevations to allow your rivers to be at sea level (to make use of in-game water rather than ploppable, I assume). Has that adjustment affected elevation in all other areas including peaks? Or did you keep the mountains at actual and only deepen the valleys. I'm interested to know your thinking on this subject. Anyway, thanks for continuing this project and sharing it with us. It continues to be a great read (and ride)!
