I should inform you that there is a large creek that joins the river just upstream from the town. Anything upstream along the river will only be accessible by boat. Ahhh. Charles Lord reconsiders his options, and instead decides upon lot 12 in the town, with the intention of building a home.

These really show off your amazing eye for detail. Many beautiful pics there! What I wouldn't give for half your skill... :) -

T3 - ROUND 1 - MATCH 1
Lordyboy96 commented on spursrule14's City Journal Entry in The Great ST SC4 Players Challenge
Hmm, I think I prefer the first image. It just looks more alive, and therefore more like a real city to me. The 2nd image is cool too, the ped malls really fit well, but I think it could be better if the higher density buildings were W2Ws, in my opinion. Also one thing I noticed is that both have a perplexing lack of parking, for a main train station ;) -
Horneby & Marienkirchen - The Grid Is Dead
Lordyboy96 commented on MandelSoft's City Journal Entry in Schellingen Stadt
This is awesome. The death of the grid is something we've been waiting for since literally the release of SC4. Those RHW2 parclo interchanges look great, I'll have to change some of my interchanges in my rural region into those, I think :) -
Lovely! It all fits together really well (except maybe those bus stops, RTMT defaults, ew!) May I ask what those buildings across the road (left of the station) are? I want

Wow, 9th decade, is that across all the tiles? You must be really taking your time on that one to get it perfect You can always expand it later, if you fill it I guess, so don't worry about running out of space!

Thank you However, if I'm honest, I'm not completely sure what you're suggesting. That I replace it with two 45 degree turns (one on each side of the lane it goes over)? Maybe a diagram would help? Yeah, that was kind of unintelligible. Here's a picture to illustrate what I meant: Ah yes, that's what I thought you meant, but I wasn't sure. It's certainly better than having a sharp bend that will cause all the traffic to slow down. I may be revisiting this interchange again shortly anyway, since I only just found out there's a FAR-angled ramp, so I can get rid of that S-curve on the right of the picture (which was really annoying me haha).

There's nothing wrong with it. You've got to be kidding me. As simcoug said, pretty much every single piece of custom content in the game other than an MMP has to be run through the lot editor at some point. Do you really want a vanilla pic with a single custom station? The fact that there's only been one submission each for the first two 'tournaments' should be a big red flag that something is wrong here with the criteria. The 'No lot editing' bit means that you can't go away and make your own lot (or edit something already in existance), however things downloaded from the Stex/ any other custom content site are fine. I only decided on that to level the playing field, since otherwise non-batters/editors could be placed at a disadvantage to those who know how to (who could take the trouble to make their own lots purely for this tournament). Tl;dw: Basically, the 'no lot editing', just means you can't use stuff that only you own/ can download, so Stex content ect. is fine :)

Thank you It didn't make sense to make it any wider, since the region it's in currently only has a population of around 50,000, with the two main settlements at around 20,000 each, and so not much traffic actually uses the highway at the moment. Maybe in time I'll have to upgrade it, but for now it's just fine

Just a little RHW-2 Interchange I made for my new(-ish) region. This actually took me what I would consider a long time to make (in the end 3 hours), just because I've barely used the NAM for making anything other than super-simple interchanges in the past. Any constructive criticisms/improvements welcomed. P.S. please ignore how some of the image doesn't match up, I edited something halfway through making the mosaic, and couldn't be bothered to re-do it

Demand mods are useful for if you just want growth, they're not particularly useful if you only want a certain building to grow in a certain spot. Sure, you could use a demand mod and just keep demolishing the building that appear in that spot until you get the correct one, but that's very time consuming and a plot is just easier (especially for CJs/screenshots)

Yes, I think the main thing to give me that impression were the 2nd and 3rd images, since there seem to be a lot of Maxis Two Storey Houses. But still, they look good man, and fit the scene well. I think I've just been spoiled by the likes of Paeng, Forthwall, Yoshi and others, who take great pride in using absolutely nothing that actually came on the install disc (Which is also massively time-consuming!) Thank you for the kind words If I remember rightly, I started with the only R where there is now a little bit of Mid-Density on the south side of the river, with farms surrounding it, and expanded the R zones into the farms as demand increased, and added more farms on the west side of the south bank. Most of the R on the north bank was previously empty ground, as I didn't feel it was realistic to build a bridge across the river for farmland, as there was still plenty of space for that on the south side. I did build off a single main road of both sides of the river, and I generally plan very little out in advance, I feel I get more organic growth by being as short-sited as real property developers are In terms of terrain mods, I think I'm using the LK Starter Set (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2752) and LK Appalachian Terrain Mod (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2753) by Lowkee33, and the trees should be Pacific Northwest Tree Controller () by Blunder. The reason I say 'should' is because I've had these installed for a very long time, since I love the earthy, more muted (and IMO more realistic) colours, and all the textures are HD, and so look awesome at any zoom level Thank you! I really love how the trees break up the development, but it also draws everything together and so makes everything fit together really well. I wish you'd have kept it!

That blend between Fifth Ward and Homeacre is impressive! If you didn't have the city boundary lines on, I wouldn't be able to find it by looking at it :) Definetely a lot of potential here :D

I personally use GIMP, which is a free image manipulating programme (like PhotoShop, but not as good). I think you can use paint, since you can make the canvas bigger by dragging out the bottom right corner, and then just copying and aligning the different screenshots. However, it seems like it would be darn fiddly, and difficult to correct if you do it wrong. Very nice shots, of course they could be improved if you got away from the Maxis stuff, but it depends how much time you have on your hands

I really like this, especially the way the roads wind and have a lot of smooth curves. You hide the grid very well. I think this would look even better with some custom bats or themed buildings. Perhaps we could see a few close-ups/ mosiacs? Some very nice natural scenes there (that lake looks awesome!). I think a smooth slope mod would improve the shots (especially the 2nd image, that road on the top left shouldn't do that!). I also think some smooth curves on the road in the 3rd image, rather than the regular jagged ones would make it look more suited to a rural environment

What Music are you listening to right now?--The Second Verse
Lordyboy96 replied to Livin in Sim's topic in General Off-Topic
...Like Clockwork by Queens of the Stone Age. It's actually not been released yet, however there's a free stream of it up on iTunes (http://search.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZContentLink.woa/wa/link?path=qotsa), at least for the rest of today. Well worth the listen, especially since this will be their first album in 6 years -
Remember that certain people in ST do not have a monitor of this resolution (I have a 1024x600 netbook monitor... there is no way that I could do a 1920x1920 picture unless I assembled it into place like a mosaic). No one has that resolution, perhaps it should be 1920x1080. ??? ....Or perhaps they deliberately asked for it, as they wanted a mosiac?

There really is some beautiful stuff in here Alex, those all look very cool, I like the mix of W2W buildings in each of those pics. I feel you could improve on those by using a slope mod, since some of your railways seem to take some very steep, sudden changes of incline that a train wouldn't be able to handle Anyway, now for my efforts. All of the following were taken from one town (Northshore, population 19,009, on my region based around Lake Annecy). It's a little bigger than the others posted here, and is the largest settlement in the region currently, but I still think its more of a small town than city First off, a general overview: As you can see, its still not done (I'm looking to take the low density housing at least up to the railway line), and then will likely make a kind of CBD in the centre using mid-density buildings. Next: The market. The centre of trade for all local farmers to display their wares. Then: The Church Built shortly after the first farmers settled on the shores of the lake. Thankfully, a peaceful history means only a small graveyard is necessary for the town. And lastly: One farm still survives in the middle of what is becoming prime residential land. (Also, it gave me an excuse to make a small mosaic ) That's basically all I've got for the moment, apologies if this is a little too much for one post, I felt the urge to share it all at once! Feedback, of course, is always welcome
