Some lower income housing form Velsen-Noord this time. Whole suburbs in bigger and lesser Dutch towns and cities have areas consisting of this kind of housing, which was very common to build in the late 1950’s. Due to shortages caused by WWII and driven by a vast demand of new homes, these building were erected very quickly and display a simple design. -

These buildings are located across the centre of the Dutch city of Haarlem. The yellow brick one can be found along the River Spaarne, and the very right one near the central station. In the game, these houses are residential buildings with the name ‘Raaks’ – a busy building site in real-life Haarlem where new apartments and a parking garage are being built as we speak. The buildings are growable and have night windows. -

These houses are located in the very heart of the Dutch city of Haarlem. The left one has a prominent place along the River Spaarne, whereas the right building is situated at the Nassaukade. In the game, I’ve renamed them to ‘Korte Veerstraat’. The buildings are growable and have night windows. -

This is the old church of Spaarnwoude, a small village near Haarlem, Holland. The tower dates back to 1200, whereas the church itself was rebuilt in 1764 after a fire destroying the old chuch building, leaving only the tower as a witness of the church's past. In SimCity, the curch is a ploppable Landmark, 1x2 with nightlights. Use it to lighten up your villages during Christmas! -

@ Tinkerblinker: 1 Amsterdam (7.380 national monuments), 2 Maastricht (1.661), 3 Leiden (1.364), 4 Utrecht (1.360), 5 Haarlem (1.182). In national monuments per capita, Haarlem occupies the fourth place: 1 Maastricht (13,6 per 1000 inhabitants), 2 Leiden (11,5), 3 Amsterdam (10) 4 Haarlem (8,0), 5 Dordrecht (7,5). Source: www.leiden.nl However, I miss Middelburg in this list. Maybe the list is only made up of cities with over 100.00 inhabitants?

These historical buildings all originate from the Dutch city of Haarlem and can be found along the River Spaarne (corner), Burgwal (small middle building) and Groot Heligland). There are many buildings like these left in the city centre, making it the fifth Dutch monumental city. -

This corner building is from the town of Purmerend, North of Amsterdam. The town has been appointed one of the ‘new towns’ with a lot of new urban areas being built, called Vinex areas. But, in the town centre, some older houses can be found as well, such as this corner house, near the railway station. -
