I find it strange they didn't have a consept of rivers above sea level in Sim4. They had a watter tool in simCity2 and they left it out of Sim3 untill they got the later version for it. Having Hydro dams in simcity2 was kinda fun. I guess I just miss little rivers and streems carving up your wide open spaces and then having to have lots of mini briges everywhere. It adds a sorta realer feal to land scapes. BUT im kinda bias living in Oregon I meen we got the streems/creeks and watterfalls everywhere. -

After playing with citys of various sizes I find one thing hard to do that I wish you could. I shall call it the price out push or the stedy march to $$$dum. If I want a single building to develop into something I want say to have a bunch of low welth project type structure in a given high dence aria it spawns sometimes at first but usually gets etten up by $$ or $$$ R because of my city parks being everywhere making nice naborhoods. I wish I had a way to tell a zone before it develops to only allow a serten value based development to be built there with out altering tax codes. In real life before you can take out one shovel of dirt you hafto go through a long design prossess and land use permit system. There is just so much oversight before any building gets built. In sim 4 its just a free for all. Why even have government buildings unless they have a say in sometheing? That would make for a good government addon building+mod. !CITY PLANNING BURO MOD! -

Im mad at the crashing. But I should save more often, ya just get on a rool sometimes. Something that does saden me is that you spend all this time on networked roads trains and hiways, BUT you can't take a drive accrost the whole inter-connected map. NOW that would be cool. I understand the RIC thing being so random seeming. BUT where are the people to come from from the beginning. Making a program that needs CI demand based on population/education and then making C and D demmand effect eachother and then R demand that would be hard to write and would kill the CPU trying to figure out all thoes demand calcuations. (example) Lay down farms first(farms =some low-d R and AG to allow higher pop basic farms wouild be self sufichent like pioneers), then you need people to work in C and I second. Places to sell things and factorys to build better stuff to keep farms running(tractors exc.) That basic system leads to medical need and the stuff related to that, then its up the chain to space ships and cellphones. All 3 RCI(and should be +A) driving eachother. and any short fall in either causes a shut down in improvment or even the whole up and up system would fall apart leading to a depression(disaster). Say a farm aria's production was destroyed buy a bad seson or disaster. if you didn't have surplus it could lead to shortages and big problems all throughout sim socity. Well now that would be a cool system to play under but alas I think un reachable by this engine. -
What type of Goverment does your city have?
NoviaStar replied to hobostank's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well they allways seem to want more trees. My low dense citys have lots of trees in yards but its still not enough for them. Oh and sims strike all the time if you arn't paying attention to funding levels. So do the firemen and police if you really under fund the departments. Trafic accidents and congestion or some roads allways seem to be a problem somewhere in big citys. -

I have been playing on the default zone but decided to make a new map. Its going to be total Monarchy each aria is controlled by a local lord. But the king will rule all. I don't know if there is a darkages tile set for this game but that would rule for this map consept. Any one know of such a thing and where to get one? -

Just a thought, With really small farm towns or island getaways is there really a need for education buildings? Also with buss service funding, if you drop it to 0$ will a school still have any effect?(ie. people who take there kids to school or are within walking distence.) Same with clinic's ambulance service? Oh I have been playing arround with parking garages, making a rail kinda system in town mono/elv and having a subway and buss stop all right together really increse use of mass transit with a parking garage. The buss service and subway system really jumps if allong the mono/elv system there are a few of these hubs. I went to like 5% capasity use to 70%ish with these hubs. It seems to work sorta like hands with a big palm(mono/elv rail) and the subway/buss being fingers into a community zone aria. -

Thanks for the replys. Ive been playing a lot more now and have a few other points of trouble. I got the (NAM)and thats all ive altered the game(other than the latest patch). -My bigest thing on my mind is the use off parking structures. I build them sorta neer a mix of subway/monorail/buss/highway axess arias. I dont seem to be geting much if any use of them. Are they more usuful in (dense C/R) arias and or close to the mass transit buildings? In my real big city I get trafic jam arias a lot, does adding parking buildings in thoes arias really help or is it mass transit stations are more usuful? I have a city of 50,000 that this is all about. -A nether small question involves the R$,R$$,R$$$. My question is with out zonning more R-m/d when the quary buildings say they can have more in them will lowering taxes allone drive population up or is it some other combo? Ive noticed that setting serten tax levels real high early will make corasponding development not come in. But it seems to me that not haveing C/I$ zones make it so R$ pop is allmost non existent even with low R$ taxes. It also seems that R-$$/$$$ zones hold less sims than R$ zones, contributing to lower pop potentials. I am geting the hang of this sim game though(much more complex than the others). Thankyou again for replys. I like mods that add more depth to games so if any one has any good sugestions Ide be happy to try them out! -
Im kinda a long time sim player. I have had sim city 4 Rush Hour for about 2 weeks(got the box set wife, likes the other content) . I had a few observational questions I will add more as they come up. 1. Is demand (C,I,R,$-$$$) Global or naboral. 2. I have Freight transit yards in a few citys and a decent ammount of industry (I think). 0% of capasity is being used.

My dad was a ET in the navy so he had computers and all kinds of earilly electronic gagets. Back in the 80s. I had the early PC sim sity. Black and white with the godzilla crushing every thing. I had the most time playing 2000 was still playing 2000 a year agow. My wife brought home a sim city 3000Unlimited addition 2 months agow. I got the box set of sim city 4 2 weeks agow. It is so diffrent in the micro-managment. Im having to up my mayoral skills a lot for this one.
