  1. Sometimes, early in my cities, my industries goes bankrupt and it says that there was a lack of Freight in the area. Exactly what affects the availability of Freight? Residents and Offices?
  2. Buying Tomorrow, I have some questions

I believe that the mistakes you are making in Simcity 4 that causes you to quickly go bankrupt are going to slaughter you on Cities XL 2011. The number one mistake that players make is placing more services than the city can afford. Read some of the tutorials and stuff to help you.
  3. Cities XL for 360?

Forget aboutt the Xbox 360 and just get a desktop PC that meets the requirements of Cities XL 2011. They are not even that expensive.
  4. Any tools I could download to modify the Maxis power plants?
  5. What I wanted was to increase the capacity of the power plants so that it would power the region, just like in real life. It seems like in order to do this, I have to learn how to use Ilive's Reader. I know that simply using a mod would be a lot easier, but I just want to try to accompolish exactly what I want before resorting to plopping an ugly cheat building into my cities. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just pointing out that I tried to do this with the Lot Editor, but I saw no way to do it. But if anyone knows about any modified Maxis power plants, please do tell. EDIT: Ah! It was so easy! Just click on the Building Tweaker, do your modifications, then save as DAT in your plugin folder.
  6. Do you even know what you are talking about? I've downloaded the Lot Editor and I don't see anywhere where I can edit the amount of power the power plants generate.
  7. Easy, Medium, Hard

I was wondering the same thing. Is the disasters even worse on hard?
  8. I have a city of 50,000, everything seems to be running okay, but whenever I zone new residential, hardly anyone wants to move in! What gives? The demand for residential is high. I want some detailed information about how these population caps work and whatnot? How many parks/rewards do I have to build to raise it, or if there's any other way? EDIT: Is there any mods to remove these population caps?

Um, I hate to say this, but GlobexCo is dead. [Too rude, but I left part of the post - edit by GlobexCo]
  11. GlobexCo Workshop

Why don't you use MediaFire? It has no waiting times, even for free users, whatsoever.
  12. I am relatively new to Simcity 4, and I have been playing a city that is about 40,000 in population. One thing that is bothering me is that among a bunch of slums, there are big mansions placed here and there. How can I stop this? It bothers me because these mansions look very out of place in their otherwise slummy neighborhoods, and why would rich Sims want to live amongst poor Sims? There is also a great lack of middle-class sims, for some reason. Land value among my residential zones is generally high, with a few parks, adequate hospital, fire, and school coverage.
  13. Keeping the rich seperated from the poor.

Well, I got the no-Maxis-mansions mod and it works pretty well. Now my towns/suburbs look more realistic.
  14. Keeping the rich seperated from the poor.

Well, I guess that I am just so used to Citites XL's way of doing residences, but even then, I remember in SimCity 3000, you couldn't get mansions unless you put a bunch of parks in an area and made sure that it was crime-free, had high heath, education, etc. I guess the problem in Simcity 4 with the mansions being in-between the slums is because the way of handling demand is different from both Simcity 3000 and Cities XL. The demands between the different wealth levels of Sims is different. But at the same time, it's way too easy to get high land value in Simcity 4, it seems like. So it creates a problem where the $ and $$$ residents are everywhere, but the $$ residents are rare.
  15. Is SimCity 4 Dead?

It's such a shame that SC4 runs so badly on newer hardware.

Well, I have to say, is that about 500 new buildings that will be unlocked? That's really going to add a lot to how our cities look, GlobexCo. I'm waiting patiently but eagerly for this mod to be released at any time.

  20. I want to buy that game so bad!

It was not worth buying the two versions just so you can have a hard copy.
  21. I want to buy that game so bad!

Don't buy the game through Steam, buy it through Metaboli. The Steam version has lagging problems in the interface that the other version do not have.
  22. Modd Ideas/Requests

There is a bug in Cities XL 2011 that I think could be fixed with a simple mod. The building/zone button that you trigger on/off, when it's on and you click on particular things, the button disappears and you have to re-enable it. Also, when you are plopping houses, shops, offices, and factories, it should give you a preview of where you are placing it like hotels and special buildings do. That way, I can be sure that whatever building I want to plop looks right before plopping it.
  23. I want to buy that game so bad!

I'd just say screw it and get the digital version from Metaboli. From what I hear, you probably won't find a hard copy anywhere in the Americas, anyways.
  24. CitiesXL 2011 Multicore Tool

Yeah, the tool makes the game use both of my processors, but I don't notice any significant increase in performance.
  25. Cities XL 2011 Verdict so far

My verdict that Cities XL 2011 has been considerably improved from its predecessor. Even though the positive changes tend to be small, they are rather numerous and really add up. The performance is slightly improved. Sure, the game barely uses anything other than one core of your processor, but it lags a bit less and it runs smoother. The trading in-between your cities was a much needed feature that has been done properly here. The cities themselves look a bit better, the gameplay has been made a bit more challenging now that most of the "area effect" buildings have been toned down significantly. And there's a new subway system to wrap your head around in. There's more small improvements than I can think of right now, but those are the biggest ones. I am so glad Focus decided to revive the Cities XL series, even if just for one last game. Cities XL had so much potential that Monte Cristo failed to deliver upon, and while Cities XL 2011 isn't exactly stellar, it has taken more steps forwards than backwards and has effectively become a solid city builder/simulator, a genre of gaming that has been virtually left for dead ever since the Simcity series ended. I hope that the Cities XL series continues, but if it doesn't, then that would be a tragedy to gaming, because we need a game like this today, amidst all of the pointless shooters and RPG's that I am just sick of. The Cities XL series has what it takes to become not only the best city builder/sim ever made, but maybe even the greatest game of all time. Building your own world should be what gaming is all about. And Cities XL 2011, despite its annoyances, delivers, every time. I suppose the whiners on here can keep on whining, because they can never be satisfied. I am definitely satisfied with my purchase.
