Hello, I'm interested to know if anyone has an of idea how many and what combinations make up each lot size for R, C, and I. I frequently build the same lot sizes on some maps and wonder if i'm restricting the types of buildings I get because I don't have the right lot sizes. Any ideas?

Wow, seriously? So basically as long as you have a few cities up you really never have to worry about capping then it seems? On the other hand, since it's spread does that mean you have to count your region population towards the capping? That would be complicated to go into each city and add up various populations to get a total for each category...

Hello, I've noticed that with a lot of Recreational Buildings and Rewards that there is a range listed. My question is does this apply to both the Desirability AND Demand Cap Relief? Basically does one building that provides 100k relief for Residential apply across the city or just in it's own area of effect? Thank you so much in helping me figure this game out! It's so vague sometimes!

Maybe i've done the wrong thing by only using high industry in my city now. I'm guessing not everyone wants to work there and now I can't get my RCI stable again! Agh!! This game is so difficult...I still love it though! Lots to master

Hello, I'm using SimCity 4 Delux currently with no plugins. I'm rather bored of the strict grid layouts that i've come across lately. I've seen some very good realistic cities on this site and would really like some good layout ideas to help me create one great looking city. Medium or Large map is ok. If possible please post some pictures of your sectors with road layout ideas...i'm just not very good at coming up with this sort of thing myself...which is too bad because I love this game! I guess I need help most with how to lay my transportation network so it looks nice and is effective, plus how to zone around it all. Downtoan areas, suburbs, and an industrial area. Any help would be appreciated to the highest degree!

I've enjoyed reading everone's responses to my issues. One of you mentioned that my commute abandonment could be due to a lack of jobs? Is this possible? I realize my Residential demand is negative and my Commerical and Industry is positive at the moment. Could I fix this problem by simply removing some residential zones and putting in more industry? One final question, is it possible to only download the traffic simulator and keep out all the puzzle pieces, road tools and stuff? I'm more or less only interested in this Traffic Simulator and not the other game additions.

I personally only run the game on Turtle speed, I NEVER use any of the faster modes. I honestly don't think there is a need, as it's a simulation game, I try to keep it reaslistic and have the pace slow and steady, like in real life. I try to enjoy all the little bits and pieces the game has.

I'd like to try downloading the NAM. I'm curious as to how this effects the game and is it cheating? I've read there are a few different capacity options, like classic, low, etc. How do I know which one of these to use? Also, my main city right now is abandoning due to commute issues (of course right?) will this fix the issue and allow my demand to go back to normal?

Thank you for all the feedback everyone. I think it's interesting to hear everyone's opinion on the state of the game and where it may lead in the future. Honestly I'm telling all my friends that i'm really into this 7 year old game right now and they just look at me with a weird look. I did get my roomate to buy it though! If it wasn't for everyone still playing this game and this forum I may not have kept my interest. I guess what i'm saying is that as long as so many people still have fun playing this game and sharing stories, i'll enjoy playing the game as well. I enjoy playing games everyone else is playing, even if we aren't playing online together, at least it feels like it!

Simcity 4 now available on steam

I'm not looking to hijack the thread but I thought it would be a great time to mention that if there's anyone looking for an conveniant buyable download for a SimCity 4 Deluxe version to take a look at Direct2Drive's website. The download and installation is a breeze, you don't need to install any third party programs, and you can re-download it at any time. I find it very handy because you don't need to worry about a box or have that darn cd taking up space in your dvd drive! BTW, it's 19.99 -
Hello, My medium map is composed of half equal parts industry, residential, and commercial to an extent. All my sim are very well educated now with great health. I'd like to get rid of my pollution so I raised taxes for dirty and manufacturing. The only problem that I see is that my Hi Tech does not support nearly as many jobs as commercial. Keep in mind this city is self relient...my question is can I just replace all my industry zones and put commercial in instead? I honestly think if it would work I could get a lot more use out of my city tiles! Any thoughts?

Do you change your Mayor music station?
Decaf Table replied to A Nonny Moose's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I haven't listened to an MP3 in so long. Does the game support AAC? I normally just have Itunes up in the background...my favorite so far is playing one of the radio stations they have called "Birdsong" radio, it's pretty relaxing! -
Ok, i'd say go ahead and wait for it. I generally use coal to help my city grow big. Once i'm making a big profit I switch to Oil because it lowers the pollution by a decent amount. i can only imagine going Nuclear will eliminate a big portion of the pollution so much as you wouldn't have to isolate it so much. Just my .02 cents

All my cities crash and burn when I hit the 75k mark
Decaf Table replied to TigerLord's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Subways are very expensive! I don't know if you'd need one at 78k. It sounds like you were doing great with a 5k profit...so what exactly happened? It's normal to go through phases where you build and then lose profit for a bit. You'll have to asses what's eating away at your budget. How are your taxes, did you change anything drastic? Also, for demand, have you made sure to build demand busters? A side note, you should never need to build a treatment plant for your water supply as long as you keep all your pumps out of the water pollution. Your advisors will say your water is polluted but as long as it's still pumping, you've got nothing to worry about...that will save you some big bucks getting rid of that!
