1. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

My work is only just rolling out upgrades to office 2010/Win 7 now and wont finish the upgrades untill half way through 2013.
2. SC4 Computer Switch-over

Yep its easy to keep all your cities and plugins, I have SC4 on my old laptop... I built a new desktop as the laptop was struggling to cope with processor intensive tasks without getting mega hot (I didn't want to fry the motherboard lol). I simply copied my plugins/regions over to the PC and that's it done. In fact today I have been working on my plugins at work (slow day) so I have been transferring my plugins from laptop (I took it to work)-PC and back again with no problems :-). Just one question though do you still have the game cds? As its easy to copy your saves and plugins but I'm not sure you can just copy the whole game and expect it to work without probs though.
3. Hopefully it should work then... The signal strength is highly variable thus effecting speed on a bad day I can get as little as 17kbps! usually it sits at around 70-150 kbps. Im thinking of changeing anyhow as its orange and its rubbish lol... I get only 3gb allowance a month for 15.99. My dad gets 15gb on three for the same price with a newer faster dongle!
4. A forty minute drive every day so I can play Simcity lol.... Then they would have to kick me out of internet cafe/where ever I am after closing because its addictive! Probably easyer and cheaper to just play SC4 without even relaunching the argument of dissapointments with SC 2013 and lack of features v SC4 :-).
5. The pain in my life... Sorting out my plugins folder lol

Haljackey

Or you can just be lazy like me and have a messy plugins folder ;)

lol... Cleared out a lot of rubbish that wasn't being used and removed unused dependencies (the worst part). But SC4 is more stable and loads a lot faster now :-).

6. Somehow out of money

I never use money cheats lol, its better to learn to build up your city slowly and maintain a balenced budget as you go along. I have only recently downloaded a money tree for testing purposes as I have expensive landmarks I need to test for missing textures/props etc. But then it depends what you want to get out of the game really. I like the challange aswell as trying to design an amazing city... I think some people just want to freely design and build a beautiful city without worrying about budget constraints. The advice that others have given is sound... start off small and build up slowly, don't try to do every thing at once! I follow a natural growth pattern starting with a village. As the demand grows I build up more zones etc adding in sml civics and services, the village will naturally evolve into a town, then from a town into a city. The main aspect that I struggle with budget wise is the sanitation dept, those landfills really eat my spare cash lol.
7. Looks like I won't be able to play this then... We live in a rural area so have to use a USB dongle for mobile internet, so my internet speed will not be sufficient for this game lol.
8. Making my own city game [+Image]

I wish you luck with your endeavour, I would love to do something like this but unfortunantly computer programing is not one of my better skills lol.
9. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

Sorry for getting off topic in my previous posts lol... Just reading up on W8 this morning its out on 26th Oct Tomorrow in UK, seems to be pretty favourably reviewed on internet. It does have a desktop mode of sorts you can get to it from start screen. Though as I said before still not keen to upgrade to it, it seems good for tablet or touch screen optimised devices but cumbersome for traditional keyboard mouse... But I will add I havn't used it or tried it, its just my observations.
10. Trouble is if you want to develop your city centre and increase the zone density you'll have to rip up all your roads, rebuild them and redo the zones its just backward lol.
11. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

Just Googled them both and they booth exist as separate yet similar games. Angband is set in/based on J.R.R Tolkien universe where as Telengard is set in its own mythical universe. I think the reason no one has revisited Tie Fighter/X-Wing is because space combat sims are not regarded as main stream enough, people are more interested in marketing the prequel Jedi stuffs. I long for a remake or update with today's graphics it would be insane! Tie Fighter one of the best games I have ever played :-). Echos whats been happening with Simcity really... until SC 2013 that is.
12. I filled in your questionnaire however some of your questions make assumptions that people go to the beach every day at a set time... i wish I could but I live quite far from the beach lol. You might want to think about adding a few extra tick boxes to some of the questions. :-).
13. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

Looks interesting may have to give it a try :-).
14. How to skip intro movie

Agreed... There is that I guess but there is nothing like a bit of corperate brainwashing to enhance your day lol.
15. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

Free weight lifting features aswell then lol... Its amazing how far technology progresses, I still remember our familys first pc with MS Dos and having to learn the command lines to play x-wing/Tie Fighter. The first computer and game I remember playing was on an old apple, i'm not sure which model even or what the game was lol, but we had a massive map on the wall and you would type in co-ordinates on the apple to go to a location on the map, then something would happen like you find treasure or fall into a pit or something. It was a good game, lightyears away from tablets and Windows 8!
16. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

Just watched the surface add... I do actually like the look of these as they offer potential to bridge the gap between tablets and traditional laptops (or the beginings of one) providing they are powerful enough for office etc. I like the portability of tablets but the functionality of a laptop... I now have Desktop, laptop, and a tablet now so my room is looking like a electronics store lol. My Desktop I built recently to replace my laptop for games as it was getting so hot I'm sure It was close to kicking the bucket trying to run games such as SC4 and other processor intensive programs, and my tablet was bought to replace my laptop for traveling and watching films on the plane. I may still need my laptop though as my tablet hasn't got a Prayer when it comes to office stuff or large hard drive storage, and the laptop is still portable even if it is like a brick next to a tablet.
17. Windows 8: say goodbye to your start menu!

I'm almost certain that there is an option in Windows 8 to have the 'classic' view/layout so you can still get your start menu/desktop etc, though it could be you have to click on one of the apps from the start screen... But even so I will not be upgrading to 8, to do this will be like sifting through an extra layer of garbage! Will probably slow down the machine with pointless news feeds/tiles on the start screen... Suitable only for a tablets in my opinion so Ill be sticking with Windows 7 its not even that old and its a perfectly fine op system.
18. How to skip intro movie

Clicking the mouse works lol
19. Matsumoto Castle

A great addition thanks :-)
20. SC4DataNode

Looks like a very usefull program will be downloading thankyou :-).
21. Get SimCity 2000 Special Edition Mac/PC for $3

Im pretty sure only the original Simcity is actually 'abandonware' Certinantly the last time I checked around 3/4 months ago the only one you could download for free legally was the original simcity. Even on the adandonware games website you still had to pay for a download of SC2000
22. All of the options bother me aswell but the small tile size is the most irritating followed by the online element... If you can build a bridge and there is a river or something through the middle of your tiny city imagine how much room you will have left. Your city will consist of Sim bridge and one sim street lol. Sorry to be so negative :-(.
23. Hui Wai Mun
Out of curiosity, in the name Hui Ts'ung Ying, does the apostrophe change the pronunciation at all compared to how I would read it in English without it? I've become a bit of a language geek in my old age. Anyways, Great pictures as usual! I like the Lee Wai Mun Estate the best, so green and leafy!
I'm not sure here but I have looked at Thai language a little and the apostrophe in romanised Thai tells you whether to pronounce the sound in high, mid or low tone. So its probable in other Asian romanised words also.
