Hi choco! Long time no see and green depra is as green as before! Haha. And, yeah, like many others who've pointed out, you can use the brick streets very well in your CJ, making the pictures look very colourful! Great use of PEG trail parks and the cycledogg trees! Oh, and I've noticed you used the PEG's alternative railway textures, which looks very nice in your green cities (I bet that the blocky look of the original maxis textures will mess up the beauty). Your updates never fail to impress me! Keep it up and I can't wait for the next update

Wow! I seemed to share the same interest with you Dedgren! I love browsing through street directories and maps. This sounds very very weird indeed but it is very veyr true too. Everytime I drop by some bookstore the first thing I go is the street directories and maps section. I love "navigating" through the streets of Paris and New York with my fingers running all over the road map... and I trace them to far away places Maybe because SC4 is not a real life city growth and development simulation programme that's why the optimum transportation layout is slightly different, e.g. highways tend to be denser and the scales are quite weird indeed. But who cares? SC4 lets me build, play and even destroy (hehe) my cities... and thing that we can't really do in real life unless we become mayors (and mayors rarely go destroy their cities). Have a nice day and keep it up!

The NDEX St Paul's Cathedral looks nice and the use of Marrast's trail parks with the cathedral is really good! And this CJ has a very heavy tropical feeling... from all the palms in your city. Great job and keep it up.

Omigosh. The highway made up of two one way roads look really nice! And with all the sprawling suburbs, generous placement of open spaces and random trees planting makes this CJ a very realistic region indeed! The suburb layout simply blew me off my feet! They are griddy, but not ugly. I mean like, the main throughfare (the two one way roads) are meadering around the place while the suburbs are laid out in a grid - just like in my countries I've been to! So realistic Keep up the good work!~

Nice looking pit!!! And not to mention the breath-taking view of the wetlands. Well, it is not actually overdone, because they look so realistic! It looks like the swamp near my childhood home, the rocks, the underwater plants and the dead trees. Wow! Keep it up!

Hihi jeronij... I am totally impressed with the bridges over the valley! They look awesome, and the scenery is simply stunning... the great choice of trees, the flexible use of ploppable water and the style of the bridges you use makes a really nice picture! And street bridge looks lovely! Looks like you doesn't only have talents in making suburbs and downtowns, but also in making wonderful rural areas and natural landscape. Keep it up!

I'm simply amazed by your map-making skills! And it is surely wonderful that you can use real life examples to compare and evaluation and critically comment The last few posts of yours are surely jam-packed with nice stuff which I've never seen on Simtrop before! Take care!

Wow jacky nice choice of buildings! I've been long amazed by your ability to craft out a nice looking farm town with meandering rivers and misty waterfalls out of nothing! Wow! The mediterranean style buildings look awesome too... and a nice blend of trees and farms in the screenshots. Keep it coming!

Hello there!!! I'm proud to announce that Botania is officially back. Just a little explanation why I've been away for such a long time - I gotta prepare for exams and woohoo, they're just over today! And what makes this CJ revival act so special is that today is alsy my birthday - I've made a wish that Botania will be revived, and poof, the dream came true! Okay, so we'll have a good look at the region after such a long hiatus Click here to view the larger image (302kb) Click here to view the larger image (289kb) And a comparison between the region shot from last update (Hoglaria) and the current one: I've expanded the suburb sprawl into a few more cities and have developed some of the mountaneous regions... we'll cover those hilly cities in the next few updates, so do look forward to it! This update will be special - involving 2 little cities seated near the north shore of Lake Botania, namely Estelia and St Bernard. Let's take a look at them! Here is the mosaic for Estelia: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the two mosaics for St Bernard Hope you've enjoyed this update!!! [Edit] Oh whopps I nearly forgot to post my personal replies: wouanagaine: Thanks for your concern! jacqulina: Thanks for your support Jacky! bullet413: Thank you and see you around! And last but not least, the Botania Update Forecast From 2/10/06 to 8/10/06 (including this update): No. of updates available: 3 No. of mosaics: 5 Cheers!

Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
teddyrised replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Great job blahdy!!! You've paid loads of attention to details... and wow, you even took real life pictures of the sign posts and add them as textures! Thanks for your devotion everyone gets to enjoy the sprawling highway system of boston And at a closer look, the transitions can never be never better than those!!! NICE! -

Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
teddyrised replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Sorry for breaking the double-posting rule... but the latest screenshot of the testing is simply... breath-taking!!! On a closer look, I've just realised that blahdy used the original maxis road side walkway texture at the start of the slope, beside the arrows. Omigosh blahdy you are just so detailed in terms of making these lots! Thanks! Although you said the LODing needs to be corrected in a few areas and re-rendered, it is already near perfect (like 99.99%) to me I just can't keep my eyes off them! -
Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
teddyrised replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Thanks a lot for these wonderful lots Blahdy! You're a machine!!! An awesome machine! I was actually qutie satisfied at the first version of big dig lots... since in my country the tarmac and cement are of distinctly different colour and hue... but thanks a lot for catering to the needs of others. superb!!! All the best! -

Hi there everyone. Firstly, I must say that I am extremely grateful to everyone that helped me keep this CJ standing for the past few months. Unfortunately, I am weaving an extremely tangled web in real life, and there is no way I can escape the academic pressure. Here is the things that I will do for this CJ in the next few years (wow!): Now to Oct / Nov 2006 - Nothing. I am having promotional exams that mean a lot to me. FYI, I am on scholarship and studying in a foreign country. If I do not get promoted, there goes my scholarship. Oct / Nov 2006 to Jan 2006 - Some really big big big big big updates (accumulated over the past few months). Jan 2006 to Nov 2006 (the whole year) - Sparingly a few updates as I am taking my A Levels next year. When the A Levels ends, yay! I will have 3 months of free time to play SC4. And this implies more update. Nov 2006 to .... (the time when I get into university) - Loads of updates to look forward to Actually I am quite shocked that there are many recent comments in this CJ although it was somewhat hibernating since a few months ago. Thanks for everyone for your support. That's the reason why I love Simtropolis and that's why I must proudly declare that Botania will be my very first but also ever-lasting CJ (most probably unless my computer cannot compute the SUPER BIG map size decades later). Actually I am lurking around Simtrop although this CJ shows sign of dying. I am very apologetic about that, but there is no way for me to get around the who RLS. Yup. I still play SC4, but only when I have free time. Botania is still growing, and I'm sure that all of you will be stunned when I publish a brand new update after my exams. Here are my personal replies: crazychickensc12: Thank you so much! Hope you love the trail parks like me, since I use them frequently in my cities. pickled_pig: Thanks for your wakeup call. I should not be so selfish that I post my ramblings on this forum. But yes, it is hard to imagine how tied down I can be in RLS, but yes it is true that I am stuck... But thanks for your advice. jacqulina: I am sorry that I can't be there to support your CJ, Paradise Falls. But all the best wishes from me to you in your Simtrop life as well as real life. But undeniable you're really friendly! Pleasingly friendly GMT: Gosh 1487 posts... I would take 100 million years to reach that mark. The palm that is chopped off in the middle is actually a error during the photomerge of two screenshots. Sorry for that glitch. Anyway, the tower you asked for is actually a Cobb tower (give me time to check it out), but I think it is accidentally left out during the Simtrop migration earlier this year. RushHourFreak: Thanks for your comment! I greatly appreciate that Take care! salut221: Thank you! rusty_777: Your favourite CJ? I am so honoured. But I am really sorry that this CJ doesn't seem to live up to your expectation... it is somewhat in hibernation mode. But sooner or later it'll surely make a comeback... remember to check back wouanagaine: It is actually quite amusing to see how you're amused to see how my trail parks are laid out in an amusing manner. But thanks a lot for your support! I've downloaded your SC4 terraformer but yet to use it. Cjah: Thank you so much for that comment of yours! Charles Rodulfo: Broadband... I use it too! That's why I don't feel the effect of my horribly large image sizes until one day my internet connection broke down and I'm forced to use my cousin's 56kbps connection. The page took eons to load! All the best to your CJ, and I am so honoured that my CJ is a source of inspiration to you asturianu: Hi there, Cristian! Sorry for not replying your PM because I am far too busy to do so. All the best to you and your CJ. Take care! Yoman3: Botania isn't dead. It's hibernating. Thank you for your comment~ take care! Thank you all for your support. Botania is not dead. It is sleeping. When it'll be awake, hopefully by October / November. But fret not! I will try to post some gimmicks along the way... hope that I'll have the time to do so. Are you guys willing to wait? Sorry to keep you all waiting and waiting and waiting...

gurrgkud: Thanks for your shwveeeeeet comment! And it is always my pleasure to add good CJs into my signature... including yours! RUshHourFreak: Thanks a lot for commenting! The roundabout is part of the NAM, for your information anyways, it'll surely take some time for me to list out the biggest to smallest (or vice versa) cities, but do look forward to that! I will tell you once it is done jacqulina: Thank you Jacqulina! You're always there to support me thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks!!!!! owneluby: Really? You love them? Thanks! Hope you've enjoyed this update! pickled_pig: Thanks a lot for your contructive comment and suggestion! They really meant a lot to me For the image size, I've decided to cut them down to at most 150 / 175kb per picture especially for mosaics! I've used my friend's dialup connection to view my CJ and the speed was horribly slow. Sorry for being such an inconsiderate CJer... Thanks everyone for your comments! Well, here is the reason why Botania is left unupdated for a week plus. My school teacher rang up and told my guardian (since I'm studying overseas) that I am not performing academically well (as expected). So my guradian banned me from using the Internet! Gosh~ so now I'll have to stick to my school's computer lab and update secretly (since my school bans this type of activity. They say computers should be used only for studying and emailing purposes only). So this also means that I can only update this CJ on weekdays, but I'll try if I can sneakily use my friend's internet over the weekend. Okay, so the next update will most probably be up by Monday! Sorry to keep you waiting...

picked_pig: Hi there! I am really sorry that pictures in this CJ are comprseed by only 25% to 40% (making picture qualities 60% to 75% of the original ones, by the standards of photoshop CS2). Sorry! Omigosh I am even more sorry to hear that it took you 30 minutes to load the last page! Just tell me whether should I cut down on the file size suggestions needed on this by other users too. Thanks for dropping by Botania, anyway. I hope the tutorial ain't too wordy (since I feel that it is really a STEP by STEP tutorial)... hope it is of great use to you! For the one way stuff, yup, I use them to make most of my one way highways because the split avenues require too much labour and time. Haha. I always choose the easy way out for things. See you! Okay, so here is the 3rd mosaic I promised enjoy! Sorry for keep flooding you guys with mosaics. I have little time a week to play a city, so this CJ is probably going at a rate of one update or two per week with some mosaics. Hope you like it The next update will probably be out by this weekend! Yay!

Hi there! Thank you for your support! asturianu: Thanks a lot for taking some time off to comment here! Great to see you around. Hope the tutorial is of great use to you dedgren: Hey dedgren, thanks for your compliment! Thanks for being a supporter of Botania RushHourFreak: Thank you! See you around! Well, I will post the 3rd mosaic as soon as possible, probably by tonight (+0800 GMT). Stay tuned!

jacqulina: It is always very encouraging to see you around my CJ! You've given me more support than any other people would do thanks!!! Sim shady: Thanks a lot for your sweet compliment! So sweet~ awww thanks anyway! Well, the trail parks are made by BSC, deadwoods and etc... but of course you must download the base pack first. Click here to access the STEX download page. You'll need to go to the 2nd page for the base pack... and remember the dependencies! For the nice brick houses, they are the maxis buildings, most probably in the Euro Contemperary tileset R$$$. Hope this helps! Here is the 2nd mosaic (2nd out of the 3 I've promised) from Holgaria! Enjoy!
