Since my city was growing fast I had to make this post asap.
  2. DK1 Methane Power Plant

I agree with Myself84. It would have been lot better if it just takes the garbage, produce power and send the remaining trash to landfill. If it takes in 100 ton garbage It should compost 50 of it and remaining 50 should go to the landfills. Still very nice work. -- thanks
  3. Harrisburgh

No Phtoshop for me DCMetro34 I use MS Paint, Paint Dot Net and GIMP. -- Thanks
  4. Billings

Billings -- Land values in "Harrisburgh" started touching skies. Following that few of the small businessmen decided to leave the town and find some better place for business. Many of the factory workers already been living beyond outskirts of "Harrisburgh". This was perhaps a small business haven. Bills made here were low as compared to "Harrisburgh" so everyone started calling it "Low Bill". One day someone said, "Though our lives are rundown at the moment let's just remove the "low" from our lives and the city name. Let's make it prosperous. So city of Bills "Billings" finally established. Most of the infrastructure such as railways and rapid mass transit was extended from "Harrisburgh". -x- Suburban block of Billings. -x- With the plenty of staff to choose from; many of the "Harrisburgh" Industries also settled down in the northwest part of the city. There haven't been much industrial growth as city government is unable to provide water for the industrial purpose. -x- Billings Commercial District established by poor businessmen has started to to turn into commercial hub due to special attempts of Billing's Mayor. Offices and Plaza are showing up in the place of rundown shops and stores. -x- Footnotes: 1. I keep making minor updates during weekdays late night though I can update only during weekends. I suggest you check the CJ for changed pages. 2. Image snapping and editing take a long time with my free/open source software. That might delay the update. I don't have Photoshop and I'm not editing pro either. 3. This region will have many cities so you can suggest further establishments and it's types. 4. Please dont expect instant eyecandy. I use treasury money(maintenance counts in budget) to build and maintain parks and stuff. So it might take some time to make those investments. 5. Comments, Suggestions are welcome. 6. No cheats, Trainers used, Hardly any mods NAM, texture mods and few lots.
  5. Out With The Old And In With The New

Thats some awsome stuff. Really cool presentation.
  6. VAILLANTE 1st District : The Ferry Hub

Really cool job. I thank you for pleasing my eyes. :D
  7. Harrisburgh

Harrisburgh -- A chief engineer from the project waterhunt was scouting area around "Brookfield". He found that this flat region with tough soil while thinking about the meeting they earlier about funds issues. He thought "Palm Springs" should have some kind of Industry other than farming to fulfill the project costs. And having more than just a small town will be fun. He rushed to the CEO of the "High-Tech water solutions" and he got the permission to establish the industry just a little farthur from brookfield. He also gave him the honor to name the city. Chief engineer named the city after his Father-In-Law; Who was apparently grumpy about his daughter moving to middle of nowhere. Thus the City is called "Harrisburgh". === An Old photo showing initial industrial development of "Harrisburgh". === Sub-Urubs of the "Harrisburgh". Most of the "Project waterhunt" workers and staff settled down here instead of moving back to their hometowns. === A photograph taken from the hi-rise's window on a chilly night. Not everything shines here. A minor depression few years back caused many to go bankrupt. Economy has recovered though many of them yet to taste the success again. === Yeah Goal!!! That's what you are going hear loudly when you are in this part of town. This is Harrisburgh Football Stadium; Mecca of Harrisburgh's football fanatics. Most of them can be seen around stadium 24x7. Only last week mayor received a petition about Harrisburgh lacking football fields. And; If Harrisburgh wish to host next World cup, Mayor should allocate some funds for recreational facilities. === Mayor of Harrisburgh recently went on a joyride in a hospital chopper. He shot few photographs with his new Hi-Fi Panoramic camera. === Footnotes: 1.More pics coming soon I want to present this city better than I presented Brookfield so it will take some time. This is 50k City well developed. I'm sorry I don't have older pics as I did not intended to make CJ earlier. 2.This is my very first CJ so I don't have much expectations either but I'm going to try me best. 3. Constructive criticism, suggestions are welcome.
  8. Brookfield

Brookfield -- a small, quiet town with population of farmers. Though main industry in town is farming and orchards; Brookfield downtown also has some commercial touch. And Hi-Tech Industry in the outskirts of city not be forgotten; which Brought the water to region.
  9. High-Tech Water Solutions

Region of Palm Spring Palm Springs is in the middle of nowhere. Acres deserted land. There was no population around because of lack of water. =============================================================================================================== "High-Tech water solutions" somehow managed to tackle this with their "ultra-hi-tech ground drill". "High-Tech water solutions" started boring a deep well. During that they found ground water; a spring. There was a Palm tree near construction site hence the region called Palm Spring. Palm Spring bore-well solved region's water troubles. Soon after that population and industry thrived steadily. A major tree plantation project also been undertaken. As a result desert turned into woodlands and forests. A lot of efforts been taken greenthumbs to ensure the steady growth of woods. Footnotes: I'm playing grid style with minimum bat's and mods, No cheats or trainers are being used. Do not expect eyecandy right away; as every single park and plaza added counts in a budget.
  10. Region expansion questions

BTW markus J you have done awesome job with your CJ. I can't do it that well but I can try to make this region work. Maybe; farming village, Industrial City, Commercial City will make excellent starters IMO. This is a Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig region I can further establish new cities. I have few old screen caps. I'll always keep FRAPS on; from now on. And mayor names = Mayor[City Names]. I told you I'm kinda less creative about that. Atleast I dont have "City 1" "City 2" names for cities . I read the excellent guide from omnibus and now I name them properly. Most of the people get lazy and less creative when they are tired. I forgot to mention I installed nam and nam related stuff yesterday Its hard to resist NAM.
  11. Region expansion questions

Cool FAQ I Cyrilix thanks. @Mods or any Old Member : - There are 3 images of region and cities hanging around in this topic so take a look it and tell me if region at this stage qualify for making CJ. I guess I should try to make one.
  12. Region expansion questions

Made few bold moves destroyed all schools and hospitals demand for dirty industry is slowly increasing. It was -6000 now its -4000. I just noticed that there are adult Sims who are already educated. And it might take few decades till they RIP. May be I should have waited a bit before being panic. I doubt high wealth will return to mansions with the demand being -4000 and tax 18%, Cyrilix. Decayed buildings are used by low wealth at the moment. And yes Markus J your region is very nice. I'm not into CJ and stuff. But I would want to make one some day; as soon as I understand the concept. I'm too lazy for stuff like that LOL. I thank all the helpers for their ideas and help. And this topic is almost closed unless anyone else has anything to say.
  13. Region expansion questions

I finally kicked out most of the "high-wealth "from "Brookfield" though I left their decayed mansions as is. It gives very nice rundown effect for a small farming village. Dirty industry on the other hand is not being expanded in "Harrisburgh". Demand is abysmal for dirty industry. There is quite a demand for "low wealth residential" but no "low wealth res" development at all. I removed clinics and schools from one of the residential district but mansions won't leave. Other district (which is quite farther)still has few service buildings. I can't just destroy the whole city economy by removing all schools and hospitals. I cant destroy certain gift buildngs too. I dont know what effect mayors house, house of worship and city hall cause on land values but I'm sure they improve it somehow. Is there any solution to already established city full of dirty industry and commercial buildings at the same time. I can't belive I never tried this before; to make certain group live in certain city. Thanks a lot for solutions so far I'm trying to make them work.
  14. Intro -- Though this is real world map cities are absolutly fictional. I 'm playing it since a week. It worked out really well till 40 game years but; then on there've been huge struggle for developemet. For the very first time I'm thinking region as whole rather than thinking only of the city and wish to pay particular attention to the looks of region. I'm not the brightest of the artists so there wont be much of eyecandy. I just try my best. Questions -- I'm littile confused about expansion of this region. Q1. Should I go verticle in "Harrisburgh" by zoning "medium and high density residential" or should I first fill all the tiles by "low density residential zones" What is the best choice ? I always used high density zones first rather than spreading city with low density Q2. Most of the dirty industry and low wealth sims fled from "Harrisburgh" I want at least few of them. What is key to make low wealth sims and dirty industry stay in city(apart from lowering taxes) Q3. Most of the low wealth sims fled for "Brookfield" too despite not having any facilities. Is there any way to get rid of mansions and getting back townhouses. All kinds of comments, suggestions are welcome I'm using no mods atm and wont be using as it tends to make regions unloadble sometimes if I lose plugins
  15. How to create eyecandy city

" And remember, it's a game and not quantum science ;" You are right but there's a reason behind my cautious approach. I developed couple of bigg regions no cheats no mods with just few BATs and lots of patience+hardwork +time. When I moved fm old HDD to new HDD few BAT and cities were corrupt and didn't transfer It went unnoticed and kaboom. I don't want to take that risk with mods installed and that's why I don't want start my main region unless I'm sure all installed mods work(and are useful) and all unneeded stuff is removed from plugin folders. Unmanaged plugin folder with too much unnecessary stuff could be hard to backup and restore. Second reason for I'm asking this question is that I tend to develop service building clusters making my cities square. Which looks weird. I'm so used to of this budget optimization I don't seem to find a way to break free. That's what I asked in my very first post. How did you people break free of this. "Think outside of the box," That's kind of a problem. Old habits don't change easy. I had all kinds of cities including industrial to commercial Mixed up to High Tech but basic framework been same -- Clusters. Clusters of Residential buildings with service buildings centering it. But I'm working on it. --- Watching your city growing is very addictive part ; Growing your own city is very fun yet a difficult task. And hats off to all those eye candy screenshot artists in forums. I'm trying to diversify my layouts by placing as mrtnrln said. But it will take some practice. Mods seawalls ponds etc will also take some practice for that eye candy perfection. Screenshots are very inspirational. They give me the ideas to unleash the true potential of this game. I'm glad forum is full of such screenshots. --- NOTE: - Post moved ??? My Apologies for posting in wrong subforum.I ll try to post in correct one next time.
