  1. Google Street View - Tornado Sirens

I never touched this for a while, but Google has updated the images along Biddle Avenue. Here's the new image of the Wyandotte siren: Wyandotte, MI #1 BASF (south end) (Biddle Ave north of Ford Ave) Whelen WPS-4000 Series Note: The siren AND #2 are nicknamed "BASF Community Alert Siren" to city officals. And I also found a look-alike in the same city. 2. Detroit:do the collapse

Sorry to bring back an old post, but my opinion: Being from the Downriver area about 10 miles south of Detroit, it ain't what it used to be years ago. It started to collapse in 1967 with that riot. Then in the 70's factories started to close forcing people to find new digs in the suburbs, elsewhere in the state or out-of-state. Many neighborhoods became ghettos overnight. There were a bunch of fires and abandoned houses were bulldozed to make way for the so-called "urban prairie." Then downtown in 1998 the old Hudon's building was imploded declining the state of downtown Detroit. But recently companies restored downtown back to where it was by demolishing the Statler Hotel and reopining the Cadillac Hotel, building two new stadiums and alot of other stuff. Now downtown is much better. Though it was rundown, citizens asked the city to put up snazzy traffic lights and antique streetlights to spruce it up more.
  3. I was wondering I noticed alot of CJers here refuse to make the side streets in their residential areas one-way because they look ugly but residental streets in older residential neighborhoods are one-way because they need to control the flow. If you go to cities like Chicago, Detroit and NYC, you will expect to see a boatload of one-way side streets and most newer residential areas have streets that are two-way. I guess my point for those making CJs who little to no one-way residential streets strive for realism, is that unrealistic?
  4. Peoria, the Rise of a Nation

Nice start friend! But about the airport SWAP needs to start a lawsuit. If the lawsuit is a failure, demolish the airport and (just a suggestion) build Vacation World. It has to have 7 rides: Purple Vernon Spongebob's Coaster Bottom Wubbzy's Vortex Land Snoopy's Wild Ride Wooden Madness Momooth Itchy and Scratchy's White Coaster And it must use the MAPP. You can get it here. If the lawsuit is a sucsess, get the ACE and RMIP-2 lots here.

But I suggest that a mod must move this into the Show us your oddites thread because I saw silly traffic route images there. (including the freight train on elevated LR)

  7. Show us your MAPP

I've recreated Wubbzy World in Luna Pier, MI. Pics will come soon. It is part of an upcoming CJ.
  8. The ST 6.0 Department of Technical Affairs

Now I can't search anything! For example, if I search for "water pump" I get: Your search contained ignored words, ignored words are words like a,and,to,between. Please re-construct your search without these ignored words. << back But there are no ignored words.
  9. Show us your Oddities!

Deuce Flyer really loves my Underground Shelter! Sure, the shelter is not a building, it's just a shelter complete with an SNWS Weather Radio with batteries, but out of all buildings, he wants to visit that?
  10. A Tornado in Ogden

Soon, I will remake the video.
  11. Middle schools

Yeah right. The game has only 4 types of schools: elementary, high, college and university. However, you can plop a high school that looks like a middle school and rename it. Good thing Maxis allowed us to rename buildings in-game.
  12. BAT Request Thread

Whelen WPS-4000 Series Source: Bing Maps Location: Wyandotte, MI (east of Biddle Ave inside BASF) Website: http://www.whelen.com/_MASSNOTIFICATION/rotasirn.php Description: The BATTERY OPERATED WPS4000 Series siren system consists of a speaker assembly, a pole top mounting bracket and electronics cabinet. VOICE CAPABLE and designed for MASS NOTIFICATION. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: This would be a perfect addition to my cities and other cities (such as HOOK21's cities). I tried to make one, but it was not good. Federal Signal Thunderbolt (look closely in that image) Source: Bing Maps Location: Riverview, MI (Civic Park Dr at Fire Station) Description: Website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_siren The Thunderbolt siren is a discontinued electro-mechanical warning siren that was once manufactured in the United States by Federal Signal Corporation. The Thunderbolt siren consists of three motors. The blower motor, a type of roots pump, is housed inside a large rectangular motor box typically found at the base of the siren (or in some installations on a wooden platform mounted half way up the utility pole; other methods include mounting a long wooden platform halfway up between two poles.). This motor is connected to a standpipe which blows or pumps air up to the chopper motor. As the chopper spins, the air forced into it escapes out of rapidly opening and closing holes, creating the siren's sound or "roar." Finally, a rotator motor turns the siren's projector horn 360 degrees when in operation. The Thunderbolt could be shipped as using single- or three-phase power and could either be pole-mounted or roof-mounted. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: This would be a perfect addition to my cities and other cities (such as HOOK21's cities). I tried to make one, but it was not good. 13. Grids make a city real?

Look at Detroit. Its downtown (the oldest part) is half-gridded and half-curvy. Then as you go away from downtown diagnoal grids are common until a point when the grids start to align with the base and meridian lines. For example, I drive around Detroit on Woodward Ave. I know that I will eventually cross McNichols Rd.
  14. SC4

First, get the NAM. It adds much to transportation such as roundabouts, new highway interchanges, etc. Then register on SC4D's LEX and get the CAM. It allows for new stages. Then get the RHW. It allows you to build up to 10-lane highways. It also includes the MIS which allows for more realistic interchanges.
  15. How to get area 51

If you desperatly want to get Area 51, go to the STEX and download the RH Rewards Unlocked mod.
